Lin Qingle met Xu Tingbai when she was sixteen.

He was taciturn, brooding, and blind.

During their first meeting, he told her to get lost.

At their second meeting, he was so angry his eyes turned red.

After countless meetings initiated by her, he finally lost his patience and threatened her by gripping her neck: “Even though I’m blind, I can still ruin you!”

Lin Qingle smiled at him and slowly wrapped her arms around the boy’s waist: “Xu Tingbai, stop pretending to be fierce.”

——

Many years later.

At a celebration banquet, a young lady from a certain corporation professed her love in the rain, only to be met with cold indifference and even told to get lost.

Onlookers remarked that Xu Tingbai was a proud man, looking down on all women.

But the next night, friends witnessed the usually aloof Xu Tingbai getting emotional over a stranger’s voice.

【I’m not forcing you to see this world; I just want you to see me. I really like you.】

It's a nice novel, without much drama, the protagonists separate for a while but fortunately it didn't feel too much. The ML really loves her too much. I recommend it.

Beautiful story, show the grown of the main characters. I like the fact that they have to be apart for some years because is realistic and give them time and space to grow. I also take the story as a critic to those who point others without knowing the whole story, those who dispise others for someone else actions (family members or friends) and the little tolerance and respect for those who are diferent from us. Lets not forget how others don't really might care about your life (reality your... more>> are living) and how some people can just wait to see you fall from grace to mock you and humilliated you.

This story make me laugh, cry and get really angry at some parts but I really enjoyed it! <<less

This is extremely good! I found myself tearing up repeatedly throughout this story. The pain depicted here feels devastatingly real, forcing readers to confront how deeply prejudice can destroy lives. Every whispered rumor, every judgmental glance, and the crushing weight of societal ignorance drag the victims deeper into despair. That's what makes our protagonists, Lin Qingle (FL) and Xu Tingbai (ML), so extraordinary, their resilience in overcoming these impossible odds is inspiring.

Lin Qingle, the daughter of a criminal, endures relentless bullying and shame throughout her childhood. In that darkness, only... more>> Xu Tingbai reaches out, stubbornly insisting she join him to play. His compassion highlights a crucial truth: what could a ten-year-old child possibly have done to deserve such treatment? A parent's sins should never condemn an innocent child, and society must learn to stop viewing victims through the lens of others' crimes.

Then tragedy strikes Xu Tingbai. He loses everything overnight, even his eyesight. Powerless and broken, he suffers ab*se, humiliation, and despair... but kindness still finds him. Grandma Jiang and the rice noodle vendor become his lifelines. And then comes Lin Qingle, barging into his life with her fierce determination, refusing to let him drown in darkness. His entire world narrows to one purpose: to become worthy of her. She becomes his reason to keep living.

Spoiler

Their reunion after eight long years apart is bittersweet. One poignant moment stands out when Grandma Jiang remarks how fortunate it is they found each other again (before they become a couple). Both have suffered tremendously: her life has been hard, his life has been harder, and even their reunion is hard to come by. This leads to Lin Qingle's heartbreaking realization: "After surviving so much hardship, why must I make being together another difficult trial?" (Especially when Xu Tingbai has already laid his heart bare.) Sometimes, letting go of past pain is the only way to make space for new happiness. A lesson that makes this story resonate so deeply.

And can we talk about those extra chapters? I NEEDED MORE! (Seriously, they were over too soon!)

A massive thank you to the translator for bringing this emotional masterpiece to life. This isn't just a novel, it's an experience that will linger in your heart. <<less
