He’s So Fierce, I Absolutely Love Him

Lin Hening’s boyfriend cheated on him. And he even had the audacity to justify it:

“He’s gentler than you, more understanding. I make soup for him every day. I just like him.”

Later, Lin Hening got into a car accident. He was driving a Ferrari. The other driver? A second-hand minivan.

Lin Hening: …

Through the car window, he saw the culprit—a buzz-cut guy in a short-sleeved shirt, towering and imposing, like a night-hunting falcon.

Lin Hening had no doubt this man could easily lift him and his car, then make him disappear without a trace.

The driver asked if he was okay.

Lin Hening had a sprained ankle, a fractured arm, and—oh, the car door wouldn’t open.

The driver thought for two seconds. Then he ripped the car door off with his bare hands!

Next, he stuffed Lin Hening into the minivan, stepped on the gas, and drove straight to the hospital.

When Lin Hening came out of the examination room, the driver said, “How do you want me to compensate you? … Don’t forget to count the car door.”

His ex wanted to get back together.

Lin Hening called out toward the house, “Hey, babe—”

A man walked out of the kitchen, holding a spatula. “You hungry? The sweet and sour ribs, braised carp, and soy-braised pork knuckles are almost ready.”

He’s reliable, obedient, and loyal. He cooks me full-course feasts every day. I’m absolutely in love.

Looking back on their first meeting, the thing that first caught Lin Hening’s eye was how the man’s sweat-dampened shirt clung to his rock-solid abs, outlining every muscle in his eight-pack.

So much raw strength!

…And stamina.

Refined, elegant, and aloof beauty (uke) × Domestic, practical, and built-like-a-tank attack dog (seme).

It was short and simple story. Nothing exciting but kinda relaxing and easy to read. There were some things I did not like, but by the end I dont remember them anymore. Maybe more on the 3* side, but it was a pleasant experience somewhat and I liked the ML so 4* it is.

Upd: I remebered 1 thing - it is about this unrealistic concept of almost 30 yo unreligious ppl dating for 2 years but still not having s*x. I think I read it in some other bl before.... more>> And what I dont like about is not only it being unrealistic but also this representation of value of purity until you meet the right and only partner. I mean it is ok for ppl not to have s*x if they dont want to. But the ex obviously wanted it and they loved each other and in general it is not like MC was as*xual so what's the valid reason for not doing the deed. Unless they did everything except for penetration and its ok too cz it is not like it for everyone but then why doing it with the other one almost straight away except for this s*upid concept that he should be pure for his real love who will be the only one forever. Ugh.. <<less

I finished it

It was a decent story, my main issues with it are that

First of all what happened into the synopsis was not in the right order.

Spoiler

I thought that I would start to read it, they break up and then car accidents, but that's not what happened it was full of the MC doubting his partner because of a little vixen. Car accident, more doubting, cooked for him and then found him cheating and then break up. They were together for too long in my opinion even though I get why the MC didn't want want to break up without evidence first

Second of all the story us all over the place, the transition to a next scenario was not smooth, but confusing. It took me reading a single paragraph like twice b4 I'm like oh the scenario changed

Third of all the ex's mentality irked me to no end, like he was too dense, narcissistic, uptight and sel serving. The delusional was killing me

Fourth of all a lot of scenes made no sense whatsoever, sometime it goes from 0 to 100 really quickly and back to 0, they were to processing anything, which left a distasteful aftertaste in my mouth.

Fifth of all the little vixen, he was too whinee and predictable. I honestly thought he was lying at first about his ex, but I was wrong.

It has it's perks ig, like the ML is loyal, honest and doesn't shy away from his feelings or thoughts. He's a pretty unrealistic man.

I like the Mc's friend and the shop part timers, they were fun.

MC has his perks also, I just can't be bothered to list them <<less

I just finished reading it. The premise is pretty good, but it leaves you wanting something else. I'm not saying it's bad, but after you finish reading it, you realize it was pretty boring.
Spoiler

They always stay in the same place with two or three new characters and most of the novel in the same situation "my ex-boyfriend is shit, he doesn't stop bothering me" And I'm not saying it's bad, it was a pretty cute story, but it FEELS bad when there are 2 chapters left and they continue with the same story. It would have been nice if something had changed a little, like, I don't know, if there wasn't more talk about the ex-boyfriend.

The characters are written with such depth, almost all of them feel so lively and unique! I love that the world is not just the MC and ML, but also shows their families and how their past shaped them into their current selves. There’s also very nuanced discussion about relationship dynamics and challenges, about how resentment builds up when there’s no proper communication and how cheating is not just physical but also emotional.

My only complain is that the story ends super abruptly, like at a point where you think it... more>> surely can’t be the end. Feels a lot like the author just got tired of writing and left it as it is. But other than that, incredible writing, it’s witty and funny but also serious and interesting and descriptive but not in an overtly detailed/boring way.

Would absolutely recommend.

Lovely and short read.

A few nitpicks:

Spoiler

I read this without checking the tags.

I loved the MC and the ML. But when I got to the end, I was like, "WAIT WHAT?? THAT'S IT??"

Until I came back here and saw the tag of Slice of Life.

I'm so annoyed at myself now lol.

I love Slice of Life. But with a Hottie Capital H ML, and a sexy badass prosecutor MC, and mentions of a serial killer, and mu*der, and a rival attorney, and MC's estranged bio mom being a rival attorney-- I honestly thought a huge plot was being set up and I was in for a wild ride. Completely forgetting that this was only 39 chapters.

I honestly feel like this was a set up for a bigger story being written. Like a prequel or something. Like what the heck man

All the nitpicking I said can be summed up to: ITS TOO SHORT AND REALLY NEEDS TO BE EXPANDED ON <<less

I love the storyline and the MC's character. It's perfect for those who aren't looking for so much drama (like me). Why complicate things and go push-and-pull when you can clearly communicate? Lol.

It mainly revolves around romance and didn't explore friendships, career, etc. It's like this story is just one chapter of MC's life. The part where he met his lover after breaking up.

I really liked this book. Personally, I think Lin Hening stayed with his ex- entirely too long, especially when you compared how well Gu Fei treated him. To be fair though, LH and his ex- were together for years and they did have some good times, but there were some red flags throughout their relationship that LH disregarded because he appreciated how much his ex- was there for him during hard times. The problem is his ex's motives weren't entirely pure. Unbeknownst to LH, his ex- took pleasure in seeing... more>> him struggle. His ex- had an inferiority complex because of LH's family background and professional success, and his insecurities eventually led him to cheat. Thankfully, Gu Fei was there for LH during the collapse of his relationship.

GF sort of fell for LH at first sight. Despite having feelings, GF was respectful of LH's relationship and even after the breakup, he didn't take advantage of LH. He just continued being there for LH and they naturally got together. GH's patience and devotion to LH made him one of my favorite MLs. Every time LH became afraid that he was messing things up, like his ex- accused him of, GF would take the blame and say, "It's my fault, I didn't make you feel secure enough." I thought that was so understanding and sweet. Unlike LH's ex-, GF wasn't insecure about the difference in their statuses. GF genuinely wanted to see LH succeed and instead of complaining about LH working long nights, he would bring him food or go over his house to cook for him.

I enjoyed reading about this relationship so much that my biggest complaint is that the book wasn't longer. I wanted to see more scenes of the couple dating. I wanted to see them move into together and possibly get married. I feel like the breakup took so long to happen that it took away time away from the main couple. Still, I really enjoyed the book. <<less

I was entertained. I do wish it was a bit longer since I would love to see their relationship development more.

They're so sweet together. I love when they act contrary to how they look. ML looks fierce but blushes and get shy in front of the MC. Or the MC looks cool but really jokes around with friends very down to earth. It's cute.

The ending felt rushed and all the 'villains' were dealt with in one chapter lol.
