Setting things to come.

Simple words, but they perfectly sum up the point of this novel. High School DxD EX is a spin-off of the famous light novel which makes use of the classic "kid from the future" trope. This being DxD, Ise's children come in big number and with a big variety of mothers, and their personalities are mostly being foils or expies of them. The exception to this is the titular Ex, who'll bring memories of Boruto and Future Trunks to anyone who knows them, since he acts a... more>> direct foil to his dad.

This novel introduces the ExE universe and the robot gods that come from it, who'll later be better explored in the late parts of the original DxD and the Shin sequel. As said before, this novel isn't much by itself, and instead exists only to set up important elements for the future of the DxD Universe, but it does a good job at that, and the children were overall nice to see, not to mention the focus on Azazel is always welcomed. In short, this novel basically is a must read if you're fan of DxD and want to see the full lore, but otherwise, it doesn't have much value. <<less
