I love this one because among the list of novels I'm reading this one for me is a relaxing read along with "library of heaven's path", how I wish I could binge read 100 chapters of these two everyday. So far the only annoying thing is names of cultivation arts or mantras and occasionally appearing one or two paragraphs about them which I just ignore.

I read this novel mostly for the funny moments in it. I read it in bursts of 15-50 chapters. When they are released over the days.... more>> As with LOHP, I don't know who among u may or maynot like it, but it's worth giving it a try probably.

Edit: dropped it. Saved a 100 ch to binge read, but having read 16 more ch (some where in 300s) I dropped it. Will still rate it 4/5 as I simply got annoyed by the cultivation techniques and their so called cool sounding names and bags of info. I don't like skipping paragraphs as it disrupts the flow and well it wasnt relaxing so I dropped it. <<less

My actual rating is 4.5.

So what if one day you were thrown in a world that you often read in books and given a system that forces you to make the strongest sect in the entire universe, to do that the system will lead you through giving you missions and also providing you with achievements system, if not able to fulfill in a given time your soul will be destroyed by the system. And the worse thing being you are just someone of the lower rung of cultivation world with... more>> very little power in the beginning.

The MC is not very strong in the beginning chapters, he uses wits and underhanded techniques to fight people stronger than him, and fools the talents from some of the famous novels to become his disciples as he don't want to die in 1 year, and as everyone know each of the MC shoulder a lot of trouble with them, which now burden our MC.

He is someone from our world, and is not much older, but he easily and very SWAGly fools everyone around him giving everyone the illusion of a world class expert this made me think what kind of person he was in our world (maybe a con artist?) This novels is comedy gold, he makes fun of every trope, from the legendary Harem trope to the old grandpa tropes and the rivalry it causes between him and the grandpas's.

The MC's ultimate goal is to become the strongest GrandPa in the universe which effectively works with the system's goal to create the strongest sect.

The 4 main Disciples are down in the list

1st disciple- ShiXiaodao MC from perfect world with all the background story same, and the same personality too of being an as*hole brat.

2nd disciple- Xiao Yan from BTTH having his personality toned down a bit a being a bit more likable than the original novel, he cultivates the fire as usual.

3rd disciple- Zhu yi from the novel Shen Mu, a genius in arts like Meng hao, but it is more emphasized in this novel.

4th disciple- Wang Lin from my all time favorite Renegade Immortal, he will not be as strong he was in the original novel (as other 3 disciple are much stronger than their novel counterparts), his personality will not degrade in this iteration due to our Grandpa MC.
Spoiler

His power may never be the same as before as able to create a whole universe just by dreaming.

[collapse]
, but his simmered down version is good to read too, There will not be any tragedies in this one than his counterpart.

What future holds for this novel, I will not say it. As I love it a lot, and this is not a fanfiction, instead it is much more. the story is totally original with interesting characters.

P.S. the 0.5 points that I deducted was because of the powerless version of Wang Lin and the replacement of the Heaven Revolting Bead (I am a big fan....)

Conspiracy theory- Maybe the system is created by Wang Lin's clone, and as we all know his original personality, it can tell us why the system is so strict. <<less

I absolutely love this novel, since despite being a parody of various popular novels of the xuanhuan and xianxia genre, it also manges to be a solid story on its own.

My only real complaint is that the translation of this novel is currently dead, as the original translator dopped it near the end of 2016 and the guy who picked it up only released two chapters before also dropping it at the end of 2016.

Unless someone once again picks it up, I recommend not to read it, otherwise you'll only... more>> get depressed when you reach the last translated chapter. <<less

I find the fact that the MC basically takes in MCs of other popular CNs as disciples hilarious. The novel has great plot, characters, comedy and makes you wish for more (too bad no new translated chapters have been released in a while). The MC is also very likable, at least in the way he BS out of every situation. The novel has a bit of a game element aspect to it because of the quests and items, but it's a nice change from the "adventuring and finding a load... more>> of treasures" compared to other novels. <<less

It's not just a parody of the xianxia genre, but a direct spoof of some other stories (like Battle Through The Heavens) where the main characters are used. The main characters are the same characters in these other stories; not even the names are changed.

It's basically crossover fanfiction.

I had high hopes for it due to the reviews, but didn't find the plot or jokes very interesting. I found it sort of dry, and was turned off when I read specific names like Xiao Yan and Yanran. I don't mind... more>> characters based on other characters, but when it's a direct copy... not so much. (I'm not really a fan of crossovers).

Not sure if I just didn't read far enough, but I'm dropping it for now anyway. Maybe someone can convince me otherwise... (For reference, I like the humor in My Disciple Died Yet Again, and I didn't mind going through the "boring" beginning of I Shall Seal The Heavens.)

However, I do want to say that the translation quality is quite good, with helpful translation notes. <<less

Lin Feng is hilarious! Love how he isn’t OP and actually depends on his brain to survive. The author used creative ways to combine the different stories and make it work. This is more like a really amazing Dōjin. I hope it gets a DJ manga.

Although it steals all the elements and characters from popular xianxia novels as the story progresses it is kind of fun to read the process of how Lin feng will complete his quests.

I love this story. It's a parody, excellent!!

I feel that the author fulfilled the desire of all readers to follow the original works that the disciples were based on.

That desire to improve the situation of the protagonists while following their story.

... more>> The good thing is that it doesn't just focus on them but on the protagonist and the world.

If there is a negative side, but it's not all bad.

It's the lack of presence of the system, over time, which makes sense because the prota becomes strong and doesn't need it as much, but I really liked the system.

And the main thing is the lack of disciples, in the beginning they had more presence, and then they become more dispersed, but it also makes sense, because becoming stronger they no longer need the prota.

Anyway, it's good. It's very good, it's short with 1400 chapters, if compared to the “normal” +3000, it's very short.

And best of all, the author's writing is excellent. <<less

The first couple hundred chapters of the novel are unique, funny, and interesting. However, the novel soon got bogged down by info dumps, meaningless exposition, an overabundance of characters, and a lack of stakes.

The novel begins to feels uninteresting and monotonous as the story progresses. The cultivation aspect of the novel was also nothing to write home about; it was also slow and could've been a lot more interesting.

However, the characters in the novel overall are good, parodying other novels' main characters. If you are looking for a fast-paced cultivation... more>> novel, this certainly is not it. <<less

Read up to the 1100th chapter then stop. Can't tolerate the word-filling of nonsense and meaningless martial art name. The writer was wise and found the big loophole in Chinese novel payment system, the pay-per-word. The other writers could only fill chapters after chapters with repeating plots and words, thus destroying their novels at the very beginning. But this author used the darn-very-long martial-art-name, and the meaningless battle which ensuring the MC's winning with no effort.

Not actually novel review but my feeling because there already are lots of good review.... more>> TRUST the reviewers who gave 2-3 stars rating. They are right and honest. <<less

What a novel!

I know the beginning is controversial, especially with the author ripping-off MCs and plots from other great novels, and with the s*upid and bad remarks that the author threw for free in the middle of a chapter.

But you can see that he continued to improve with each chapter, and the story got better and better as the novel progressed.

... more>> The novel has some problems, and it doesn't deserve 5 stars if you only judge the quality of it.

But I'll give it 5 anyway for how much fun it was, this is a novel I recommend!

So go ahead read it! <<less

It was a good read. Can be counted un the number of wuxia novels I enjoyed reading.

True. It does get boring sometimes but it kept me hanging onto it for some reason.

The only complain I have from this novel is that there was no development for the system. In the beginning there were interaction between the MC and the system but in the later half it's as if the system lost its purpose and was solely there for the purpose of issuing notifications when mission were completed.

However I enjoyed it... more>> anyway and was quite reluctant when I finished the last chapter. <<less

An entertaining novel with a fairly interesting story and light-hearted comedy, but with unrealized potential. A worthwhile experience only tarnished by a very painful, irregular translation.

The novel starts as a parody of the genre, the protagonist meets the main characters of other novels in comedic situations and recruits them into his newly formed sect while prompted by an all-powerful "system". Eventually, though, much like in his other well-known novel, the author seems to forget about the premise and it turns into a full-fledged cultivation novel in its own right, with... more>> constant touches of comedy, instead of the promised parody.

This in itself is not a bad thing, many novels would do just fine with a decent cultivation plot and some comedy, the problem is, in this case, it achieves neither. The plot in itself is fairly interesting with the author managing to seamlessly integrate all the different characters you know from other famous novels and their backstories into an all-encompassing plot, but it is quite obvious it was built as the premise for a parody and as such is not as profound as one would expect from a "good" cultivation novel, and even when it was, I kept thinking of it as a parody and couldn't entirely take it seriously. In the same way, while comedy was always present, it was more of an afterthought, which makes it fail as a parody too.

It doesn't help either that the author almost completely abandons the "system" at some point, only appearing to deliver the main quest for the protagonist (the secondary ones basically forgotten) or as some sort of predictable treasure-giving plot armor, without any interest to it. I'm not much of a fan of "system" novels, but when done right, I can appreciate it. This was not the case.

The narration in itself is somewhat light, which makes for an easy read, if only a little convoluted at times by the gazillion names and titles of every disciple of the sect the author expects you to remember. All in all, it is definitely worth giving it a try and while it can't compare to other great novels out there, it is definitely better than the average one, the only great problem being a very poor and erratic translation which makes it hard to enjoy at times. <<less

A good read. I still re-read some of the chapters these days. I read this some time ago and do not remember everything well, but the good parts were memorable enough.

Unfortunately, there were some forgettable parts. Luckily, the translation is easy to read and understand; these parts can be read over quickly.

This novel had a great beginning to great mid stories. After it actually took off then it lost it's originality and just isn't up to the par of the previous chapter.

MC's greatest advantage is just forgotten altogether and he had all-powerful and mysterious system is thrown in the background.

The most important thing is the plot armour that MC gets in the later chapter is not even explained and each arc felt like rushed as hell. But enjoyable to read.

One of the better wuxia novels out there, but still has its cliches.

I think its good because of how it redirects some of the common wuxia cliches into refreshing content, like how
Spoiler

he uses his past wuxia knowledge to find the "main protagonists of the world and take them into his "number 1 school

This is an interesting idea, but it gets boring quick. The game system is not really utilized, the "lucky" draws are without suspense, and the point rewards and quests are arbitrary. The disciples are fun, but in the end it is all about the MC cultivating. Why not just read a novel with a single cultivating MC then instead? I believe that this is the novels biggest problem: The MC does not really shine on his own - compare that to "Master of Untold Daos", where the MC is clearly... more>> different than everyone else.

Still I had fun reading about how different MCs of different novels come together, just that I got bored quick. 4* <<less

For me, this Novel is a 3, 5/5

Pro:

+It is interesting and the parody contents are funny tho

... more>> +I like how the MC is a con-man and his "personality"

+some figures have a well-developed personality and are interesting

+world building and power-system are nothing new but it's not complicated and that's good for me

con:

-there are some flaws/holes in the story and it's sometimes really confusing/annoying

-I don't know how to explain it, but this story has some issues with the interaction between the characters/sects... everyone speak too artificial... if you don't know the background of the people you don't really know who is a foe from the dialogues because everyone (even enemies which just clashed with the MC some chapters ago) is exaggerated polite

-the biggest issue for me was that the story gets was too political. every sect has its own NSA agency, they meet over every sh*t and discuss how to share benefits... long story short... it's really tiresome sometimes <<less

The main character is interesting however the least interesting parts of the novel are the disciples which are blatant rips from other popular novels. The disciples act so predictably any chapter that involves them just become a drag to read through. The author managed to take characters from three famous work, and make each one the same generic personality.

Not my cup of tea but the story is a great if you want some comedic stuffs going on. And oh yeah, this is one of the best well written novels out there that basically shits on generic mc's. But it's not my type of story but I recommend you try it out.
