He is History's Number 1 Founder, but can he find himself!? Just kidding that has no relevancy with the story. Good story that kinda steals from all the elements and characters from popular xianxia novels.

I read this forever ago, it wasn't great but not absolutely terrible.

Now I'm reading some small time novel not even listed on this site. Started out fun, not best level of writing but very acceptable. 75 chapters in and it's equivalent to dog shit. The translation claims to be from the same people but everything has changed. The phrasing, locations, power levels, I swear if it wasn't same character names I'd think it was different much worse novel. Ducking upsetting.

Jesus Christ, this is just bad. The first 300 chapters are like, tolerable, I guess. But I struggled to make it to 400, and I had to force myself to get to 700. This novel forgets its own premise quickly. It was supposed to be a parody of wuxia, but it just became wuxia.

The MC was meant to pretend to be strong, but then he just uses the system to cheat and boost his own power. He never works for anything. He just ab*ses his s*upid little system. It is... more>> so absurd. Lin Feng literally just ate an elixir and skyrocketed 2 entire stages. Those 2 stages would take even talented old masters decades, centuries even. But no, the man Lin Feng gets to skip all that work. And every time he decides to gamble with the system, he always wins. He ALWAYS wins. Even if he doesn't get what he was originally going for, what he ends up with is either exactly what he needs or will need in a moment or better than what he had hoped for.

The author also happens to practice the forbidden art of inconsistent world power level. There's probably a better name for that, I just don't know what it is. What I mean is, as the MC Lin Feng grows stronger, the number of people at or above his cultivation level suspiciously seems to increase drastically. When he was below Aurous Core, there were almost no Nascent Soul stage cultivators around. The few that existed were sect leaders or high up elders. No mention of Immortal Soul fellows yet. As soon as Lin Feng reaches Nascent Soul, suddenly there's a squad of Nascent Soul elders around every single corner. Now, there are some Immortal Soul monsters, but those guys are all basically sect leaders. Then, when Lin Feng reaches Immortal Soul using his s*upid elixir, can you guess what happens? All of a sudden, every other enemy he encounters is in the Immortal Soul stage! He can fight some grunts from a secret organization, and they're all Immortal Soul. This is one of my absolute least favorite tropes in novels. Inconsistent power levels means power progression is just not satisfying. This is why I don't read cultivation novels.

The only things I care about are the disciples, but the author seems to want to always talk about the adventures of Lin Feng. If the story was just about the adventures of Shi Tianhao, Xiao Yan, Zhu Yi, and the other disciples it would actually be alright. They have good chemistry with one another. But no, it's all about Lin Feng. Incredibly boring. <<less

The story is not all that bad, and I can understand why peoples would love this, but I personally really hate this story.

To begin with it have a system, I dislike any story that have system in it because usually system = free stuffs at no cost. Although systems in novel often have quest with hard punishment if fail, you just know that the MC will never fail any, so it's basically free stuffs. Still usually that would only take off 1 star, so why did I give it 1... more>> star even though I said the story wasn't all that bad?

It's because this novel feel like reading about a spectator, it feel a lot like those novels that have random peoples everywhere the MC fight, that explain everything that's happening, except this time it's your MC that's one of them. Majority of times he just watch, and when in danger he throw one of the OP treasure he got from the system, or sometime took from someone else. This is the reason why I gave the novel 1 star, like I said previously the story is not bad, but reading it as if watching a spectator make this story one of the most boring story I have ever read. <<less

really good and fun to read there is only one problem and if u notice it u might just get bord and only want to see the MC battle people instead of sid fML and ML battle and that problem is

Edit: It became really standard later on and the mystery to where his system comes from is never solved..?

This is hilarious. It's an interesting twist and later on, even as the focus shifts and the novel is no longer centered around the parody of MCs (his disciples) but his cultivation and other sects etc, it's still pretty well written. It's a bit similar to library of heaven's path- MC a teacher/ mentor figure with some cheat skills. I'd say this novel is on par with other comedy/ parody novels like... more>> My disciple died yet again, history's strongest senior brother, cultivation chat group. <<less

... more>> I love this series, parody with a good bit of action.

The grammar for this series is fairly stable throughout most of the translation, though at times it stumbles with awkward word/phrasing as well as missing a few indicative modifiers. The writing is fairly good, taking usual xianxia troupes and flipping them in a comedic aspect that doesn't detract from the story. Speaking of story, the story while not very unique is still more than good enough to keep you wanting more.

Unfortunately, it seems that the series was dropped by the original translator, as well as picked up and dropped again by another translator. Hopefully someone will take up the banner of this heavy flag and allow some more joy to spread in the light/web novel world.

lol that comment of "steals from all the elements and characters from popular xianxia novels" can be applied to just about every xianxia novel these days. Also I agree with it not bad but not a shred of originality, at least others try to branch out a bit with their copying.
