I thought I’d finally found a good fanfic based on the reviews, but this novel is, at best, mediocre. The author tries to portray a mature protagonist — a 40-year-old man who supposedly struggles with magic because he keeps his emotions too tightly controlled — but right at the start he has a rage fit and nearly throws a spell at a 12-year-old girl just because she called him “mudblood”. Honestly, I’m half his age and I would have just found the situation funny if I were in his place.

For example: his wand is made of bamboo with panda hair and described as one of the best possible. Later on, he compares the station where he’s boarding as far inferior to China’s train stations and, right after the scene where he gets insulted, he even brags about punching someone who called him a “chink” at an academic conference. All this happens before chapter 10.

I’m not usually the type to write a review after so few chapters, but honestly I can’t find the motivation to keep reading after so many red flags right at the beginning — which are usually supposed to be the most polished parts of a novel. I’m giving it a 1 just to balance out the 5-star reviews. <<less

i like that MC's scheme remain unknown including Dumbledore also doesn't know MC the one did it but he knew that something was off

I also like the fact that MC is a genius bcs of photografic memory and due to his past life.. BUT his logical and rational adult mind are preventing him from casting spell that require emotional intensity so these spells are weaker when casted by MC but others are stronger... actually it suprised me bcs I also have this thought before but none of the novel fanfic I read have this weakness.. my opinion is adult mind is less creative and rigid so casting spells that require imagination actually hard.. I think for me it is hard cause I am not a person who well versed in art after all.. so I was pleasantly suprised this novel mentioned this.. so for these spells MC took longer than usual to practice it well.. love the idea <<less
