I've been postponing reading this coz am not sure if the story would be good and gaaahhb its definitely best..I should have read it way earlier and didn't doubt hahah love the translation

This is my first "Zerg" read. I’m just here to make a mental record lol. It’s a very cute story of a devotee lover who helps his new "wife" and step son recover from past trauma just by being good to them. Fluffy and Smexy. No plot needed but not boring either. The extras are also fun and interesting.

I mostly skimmed the story after the first 3 chapters. I liked the concept, but didn't really like the plot or prejudices of the story. Even though the physical characteristics were switched between the genders (male are weaker and intellectual while female were strong), the attitude of the genders were still disappointingly stereotypical. Why is a strong, kind "female" so subservient and uncertain? Why is the weak "male" kind and wonderful just because they're willing to treat the "female" well (not even treating like an equal). I don't mind gender... more>> stereotypes, sometimes, they're all that the romance novel has going for it. However, sticking so rigorously to gender stereotypes in a novel that is perfectly designed to disrupt the stereotypes is doubly disappointing. And the characters had no real development regarding this either - they just really dug into their pre-defined roles.

I think I’ve read this story three or four times now. It’s just so adorably sweet. The MC is just naturally so loving and caring. The ML is just the cutest with his insecurities and kindness. I just love reading about their little love story.

There’s no angst or drama really. It’s just about the MC who died in an apocalypse and found himself in an alien world of all men, which is fine with him because he’s gay. He meets the strong warrior ML who just happens to be exactly... more>> his type. They get married and start living a sweet little domestic life with the MC’s child from a previous marriage. There’s a nice dose of smut throughout, all very sweet and very steamy. It just makes me feel all happy a smiley.

I think the only issue some people might have is the strict gender class systems. The ‘female’ Zerg aren’t treated as well as the ‘male’ Zerg and tend to be looked down upon due to their strong physiques. This of course makes no difference to the MC and he just loves his big ‘female’ Zerg and pampers him with love and respect.

If you are looking for a sweet, shorter length story, with cute domestic fluff and some steamy scenes, look no further. It’s definitely worth the read.. <<less

I stopped reading.

This novel is full of sweet fluff and s*x, yeah, if you look at it superficially. I just couldn't fall for any of the characters or feel connected to the story because too much of the setting didn't make sense.

The MC is transmigrated into a male zerg body. In this world, male zerg are considered precious and rare and treated like celebrities, just walking down a hallway would turn heads... so how does his whole life being bullied by his cousins until he's gloomy and... more>> sad make sense?

The love between MC and ML just comes out from nowhere. His cousin in an attempt to prank him has MC matched up to the ML via their gene computer system and MC just decides to go along with it and even decides to make ML his female monarch after a week and promise monogamy for life... like what??

But, what makes me take off so many stars is probably the whole set up of male and female and inferior female. Females are automatically submissive to males. It seems like ML is just going along with MC because he's female and of course submissive, and also MC is the first male to be not abusive. That's not love.

I'm also kind of grossed out by the s*x scenes. Female zerg never experience pleasure or are aware they can become aroused without going into estrus and it's their duty to actively pleasure the males and keep them interested? The whole set up is not sexy. And it's written like MC is the first one to ever try giving pleasure to the female zergs and just the idea that all other female zergs might be suffering kind of turns me off

I also agree with another reviewer who says this is not yaoi. I agree, just because female zergs are described to look like earth males doesn't mean they are. In this novel they are called Females and they have reproductive organs and therefore the main couple are a hetero couple and so are all the other couplings in the story. Also, since there's no pictures and I'm seeing the characters through text, if I ignore the one or two lines that mention ML having a pen*s then it feels like a regular het novel. <<less

Fluff with smut, I didn’t finish it, but I thought that it he premise was interesting! This novel explores old Chinese traditions regarding wives and concubines, along with idea of “females being inferior to male”, in an interstellar setting. It features a rather aloof and carefree MC who just wants to live his life and is quite satisfied to both confirm and break the rules of his new environment, as well as a clean and pure but restrained ML who has been living with the aforementioned rules his entire life.... more>> There doesn’t seem to be much drama, it’s mostly slice of life stuff, and exploring relationship and family dynamics (the ML has a child from a previous marriage). Ended up not finishing it this time but I’ll check it out again later. Oh, and!

EXTRA NOTE: This novel does in fact have smut. And it’s quite explicit as well. However, it’s not the focus of the story. And doesn’t really take up much screen time. <<less

This is a cute novel to binge. I love the healthy communication our MC has with our cute, timid ML. The slow transformation that our ML has from being totally subservient to slowly speaking his mind is so heartwarming to witness. 10/10 novel. Very little drama if any. Full of fluff

Also, our MC was just a total green flag throughout the whole thing. He was patience and continuously encourages our ML to speak his mind and communicate with him on equal grounds (aka stop being super formal with him). Super cute and fluffy! It is one of those novel that make you wish you can read more of (even though I feel like it is perfect just the way it is). In terms of plot, it is not heavy at all and more focused on how MC and ML grow as a character and a couple trying to find a home in each other after a hard past.

About the gender issue, I feel like it is adorable because you can compare it with the reality. The thing is, we... more>> have to see it from the novel world perspective. I can't deny that author probably take this issue from a real world problem but the focus is how the MC, as an earthling, want to change the way his partner think about himself, and thus make him more confident in him and his relationship. If we look at it that way and try to see it from their, rather than our modern perspective, isn't it cute either way?

The author way of bringing the story and the issue of gender is super light and heartwearming. The translator is also amazing. In short, definitely recommended! <<less

The story takes place in some strange universe, strange as in likeable, interesting and unusual.

Got captivated by the story, totally enraged by the treatment toward MC-kind. What I missed is a fight against that kind of treatment on "global " level on that planet. Our ML is from Earth 🌎 so he treats everyone without prejudice..

This novel is a goldmine. The relationship between the MC and ML is so good and healthy! ❤ It's been a while since I saw such a healthy portrayal of romantic relationship in fiction. The MC (gong/seme) is very understanding and the ML (shou/uke), although quite stiff and traumatized in the beginning, is flexible enough to discuss things openly. I love how they communicate their problems and insecurities.

My only regret is that this novel is too short and did not include any face-slapping. This is also more like a slice-of-life... more>> novel with no action or mystery in it. BUT, the SMUT makes up for any lackings the novel may have. Every intimate moment was heart-melting and communicative.

An added bonus is the side story of Kaczki and his family. I don't really like harem/polygamy but this was quite sweet. He's a genuine harem protagonist! 😅🤣 PLEASE READ THIS!!! RECOMMENDED! RECOMMENDED! DEFINITELY RECOMMENDED!

Slice of life, fluff, and smut? Yes, please!

This is a really lovely story where our transmigrator really lucks out as a gay man in an apocalypse setting who wakes up in a world full of men and gets to marry someone just his type.

FYI, some folks made comments about male/female setting or ABO and honestly, it's not really either of these. Everyone is a man as we and the MC understand it but Zerg society has different roles. All individuals are referred to as brothers fathers sons etc. But in... more>> this setting some of these men are "female" and can give birth, while some are "female" and seemingly sterile, and the minority within society are "male".

Sweet story but minimal plot. No villains needed. The gong MC wants a calm, relaxed life and this story gives him that. Our shou ML has a complicated background and a loving relationship helps heal his heart. They are both supportive parent.

It's a relaxed soothing story.

The side story in the extras is a lovely take on a poly family who even in their polygamous society is different and sweet. So don't skip them or you'll miss out learning the backstory if our MC's work friend and his fam of 4!

As always the translation by the ExR team is top notch. Plus I always giggle at the karate chop easter egg. <<less

After trying to get used to this author's 'zerg' world setting for 3 chapters, I find that I'm still struggling with it. Not that the characters are bad, (though the villains are painfully 2D) but I think that the author didn't even try to immerse this 'zerg' setting as much as what it deserved. This novel felt more like an urban drama about family you can find anywhere in this site. It's totally meh even with the supposedly unique setting.

The gender concepts are confusing (in this novel, there are... more>> three types of zerg but there's no woman. Only male zerg and two types of female zerg which were still a man appearance-wise). I think the author kinda borrowed the concept of nonbinary or trans in our society? But it didn't work well here since the use of the word 'female' is a a HUMAN concept, not a ZERG concept.

There's even a 'concubine' and 'wife' here. Gods, the author should just change the setting into an ancient China or Ger drama because that's where this novel should've belong.

Where's the Queen? Where's the hivemind? Where's the zerg-related skills? I even expected the characters to have their own zerg form, but apparently the author confused zerg as humans. Which is NOT acceptable.

It's apparent that the author didn't know much or understand even a tiny bit of zerg setting. It doesn't even felt like a sci-fi novel despite being tagged as such, if you expected the intergalactical sci-fi like I did. CN authors should stop writing things they don't understand well. Zerg setting is not a concept an author could use wily-nily just because they felt like the word was unique enough.

There goes my Star Craft rampage.

Also, I'm disappointed that the author had to chose such unique, detailed setting only to botch it from the very first chapter. I meant, what kind of zerg who'd die from drowning because of broken heart? 😤 I felt so offended from how the original body died and replaced by a totally human MC, who carried human's values in a world about zergs.

Dropped. I hope the author apologized to the creator of Star Craft.

This was cute and a bit heart-breaking - the story was sort so things developed fairly quickly, though they don't feel rushed. Despite having physical might, females (reproducers) are given limited options and zero legal protections when it comes to marriage. The extras were fun and it was nice to see the the MC wasn't the only good male around.

The only reason why I took a star was because of the lack of face-slapping. Xi Ran's first husband needed to be ruined.

The low rating is due to the fact that this story made me feel uncomfortable and after a little pondering, I think I've figured out why; although it's never explicitly stated, it's suggested and implied many times that the ML should be extremely grateful to the MC for being the way he is. Since the MC transmigration from another world, he's not used to concubine system and therefore decides that he's only going to have one partner. But the ML has no choice, really, he's in pretty bad situation so... more>> when the MC shows him a little interest (for literally no logical reason), the ML is pathetically grateful. Throughout the whole relationship, the MC has the power but even then I don't really feel bad for the ML because it seems like the only reason he's with the MC is because he's treating him and his son decently, so what more could he ask for?

I'll be honest, this didn't read like love story to me AT ALL.

I think it might have been more realistic if the MC did have concubines but treated them all fairly but loved the ML and then I might be able to believe that the ML and MC are in love and not just... Idk latching onto the first person they see (in the MC's case) or they first person that's nice to them (in the ML's case).

If you can ignore all that, I guess you could read this for the fluff but even then.....I don't think I'd recommend this. Sorry :/ if it helps, the translation is pretty good but that's about it. <<less

This was my first time reading a bl novel which from seme's pov, because I felt uncomfortable for unknown reason. When I decided to read this, I didn't know that it was from seme's pov which was my fault for not reading the tags here in Novel Updates. I just happened to realized it when the novel mentioned things about inferior female zerg, male zerg, etc. so I was not sure if I should continue reading the novel because it was not really my thing but... something inside me wanted... more>> to continue reading the novel perhaps because of the MC (gong), he's really respectful and I really liked his character that's why I decided to give it a try. then... AHHHHHH! I didn't regret my decision because I even found myself giggling and feeling butterflies in my stomach because of ML and mc's interactions. And I even questioned myself, "Will I ever find a man like Huan Xiu in my life?" lol.

I felt very refreshed after reading this story not only because this was my first time reading a novel from gong's pov, but also because the gong here was very different from the usual gong that I've encountered in other novel. He was not yandere, demanding, manipulative, but he was patient to ML (shou), always reassuring him about things. For the ML (shou), at first he had many insecurities, maybe because of the influence of the world... it's really sad seeing him feeling that way. I felt sad because ML (shou) saw himself worthless and always belittling himself, but his hubby was always there to assure him, to make him feel that he was not worthless/useless.

This story was fluffy, just full of love, love and love and also smutty. It also made you realized the importance of communicating with your partner when there's a misunderstanding. If you were having a bad day, just read this story and you'd feel better.

This may not be my favourite bl novel, but I could say that this novel was great and maybe a little special in my heart because this was my first time and maybe the last time reading a bl novel from gong's pov.

If you were having a second thought about reading this novel, this was the sign for you to read this novel.

I just hope a man like Huan Xiu really exist in this world.
