After being reborn into the political intrigue novel , Lu Hanzhi found himself in the role of a vicious supporting male character—one who had strangled his own son with his own hands just to secure a place as a concubine in the Eastern Palace.

Without hesitation, Lu Hanzhi packed up his belongings, grabbed the newborn that the original owner had just given birth to, and ran for his life.

What was so bad about raising a child? What was so boring about making money?

To hell with the plot—he refused to be cannon fodder!

While the main characters were off suffering through their tragic romance, Lu Hanzhi was busy raking in money and living comfortably.

The only issue? That Prince Ling’an who had broken out of prison and secretly hidden himself in Lu Hanzhi’s backyard, now locked in a staring contest with the little baby.

The prison break wasn’t a problem. His noble status wasn’t a problem. Even the fact that he was a future rebel prince wasn’t a problem. His eventual fate as a tyrannical and cruel ruler recorded in history books? Not a problem either.

The real problem was—he was the child’s biological father.
And the White Moonlight of the novel’s universally adored female lead.

Thank you to the translators and author for this lovely novel!

Lu Hanzhi (MC) is a delightful and fun personality! In particular, I was very pleased to see he didn't fully succumb to revolving around "raising the ball" as the System has other tasks for him to do. I will say MC is extremely OP (from his base-level charisma and intellect to the golden-finger system he has) ; everyone he befriends rises to a similar level of OP-ness as well. If that's not your cup of tea, I recommend picking up... more>> a different novel--and maybe a different genre thats not Xuanhuan or Xuanhuan-esque.

The families and CPs formed throughout the novel were really the draw that led me to fully finishing it! I enjoyed seeing the families grow, learn, and support each other even through all the troublemaking from the "og!FMC".

Spoiler

My gripes with this all happen to be spoiler centric:

The novel is a bit cliche and tiring after the CP spoil the "this is your baby" plot in the middle of the first major war plot point. Og!FMC, Su Wanning, is a really predictable type of "spotlight-stealing" character--her schemes (as cruel and gross as they were) held very little chance to win with MC's OP protagonist qualities--, so I really did just stick it out to see how the kids grew up--but even that was just a small section of the novel + extra.

MC's golden-finger really explains away so much (yet so little every time) ; at some point, MC buys a pistol from the system mall, and that's just waved away with little to no questions of its manufacturing or procuring. The plot also loses its stakes when ML suddenly reveals out of nowhere that he's been reborn. Overall, the romance is alright, the family-building is good, and the world building is okay; the net score is a solid 4-3.8 with the family-bonding really sweetening the deal.

Overall, this is a pretty okay novel! If you like OP protagonists with golden-fingers, multiple couple pairings + their families to explore, and a smattering of modernization of ancient times: I'd recommend this novel for you! <<less
