I read "I am a Late Bloomer in the Immortal World" to chapter 196 which is the point where wtr-lab AI translation become stale, but the translation by NO_NAME1412 for the first 133 chapters is pretty good.

I want to come off and say that this MC have the highest EQ compared to every other character I ever read. This novel deeply explore the social dynamics of the cultivation world. The MC consider the social/power dynamics and act in a responsible way that deescalate the situation. There are many potential enemies... more>> throughout the novel, but none of the encounters ended with face-slapping. The end results is actually diverse: enemies may become friends, friends may become enemies, or enemies stay as enemies. The MC have right balance of ruthlessness, heroism, and indifference.

I also believe this novel have the perfect balance of friendship/romance. One trope I absolutely hate nowadays is that all the girls are friends/romantic interest and all the guys are creeps/young master/enemies. This novel break this trope. While most of the girl characters are friendly, not all of them are romantic interest, and some actually become enemies. The MC is also not a playboy: developing romantic interest then abandon them. He actually marry a girl, stay faithful, and have children.

Plot:

What make this novel stand out is that there is no recurring plots. Instead, the MC constantly change roles.
Spoiler

At first, the MC is a s*ave, then a free man, then a married man, then a disciple, then a sworn brother, then a lieutenant, then a loose cultivator, and so on.

[collapse]
The constant role changes, keep the plot fresh. However, this kinda shift the genres around which might displease some readers. <<less

It's one of the best xianxia novels I've read. Reminds me of RMJI. The MC's Late Bloomer cheat is hardly mentioned and mostly works in the background. It's effects are subtle and only relevant over time, quietly making up for natural shortcomings of talent rather than allowing him to do the impossible or leap ahead in cultivation. The path cultivating step by step from being an ordinary mortal is an adventure that the author does a superb job of conveying to the reader. The characters are distinct and memorable. The... more>> outlined world keeps getting steadily revealed. <<less

It's a good cultivation novel to past the time but I would avoid it if you're expecting action or something more fast-paced. The protagonist is very steady and cautious, not being driven by revenge or chased by strong enemies. It's a good novel if you want to read about a wuxia protagonist who is lowkey, patient and smart.

MC was a servant of a mortal household but redeems himself and becomes a martial artist. He and his friends find a cultivation technique and begin their respective journeys to immortality as rogue... more>> cultivators.

I like the MC's character because of his balance between loyalty and cautiousness. He has a high EQ and is a rare MC who is not an absent father. But the novel is really slow paced. Even after 100 chapters, he's just reached foundation establishment. <<less
