A character with extreme difficulty and the worst performance, Baek Yu-Seol was considered tr*sh in the game because he couldn’t use magic in a fantasy world where everyone else could.

However…

[Due to the wrong ending, 90% of Aether World has been destroyed.]

[Please reach the ‘True Ending.’]

Suddenly, those words echoed in my mind before I was transmigrated to the Aether World.

[You can use the skill ‘Flash’.]

“Why did I possess this character?”

Flash was the only magic skill I was given.

Surviving in Stella Academy where many genius mages ran rampant, I became the notorious Flash Mage.

ML becomes the god and FL's go back in time to be with him. The end.

[collapse]
. As for debuff for ML all I can say, is there one? Like by stats he is the weakest but in every fight he is the strongest and gets hospitalised, as for his magic glasses they are just OP.

The final ending is unsatisfied.

For the romance part dense ML and active FL's, that itself says how much it will be. Like he did all of this, and in some parts he says he wants a girlfriend and even pretends to be a couple, just to end up like that. <<less

I have caught up with the translated chapters and contemplating whether to read the mtl or wait for the transaltion.

Coming to the fic, I loved it. It is a relaxing story so far with less tension. The author is taking his time to properly introduce characters and establish them rather than pushing through it. We are also getting small details about the world slowly.

The misunderstanding seems to be an important part of the story from what I have read and it is well done. There is a justification for the... more>> misunderstanding and it is played out very well.

Romance - now from what I've heard, it is slow. Really slow. But still, I love all the girls so far.

I would say, definitely give it a try. You won't be disappointed. It has very high potential.

One of the best isekai story I like. MC is likeable. Not OP, and compared to other characters' skills are relatively weak. But with his creativity and execution, it can be classified as an OP MC. But that's the thing that I love the most.

All heroine likeable and The author prepares a plot that focuses on each heroine, so readers can gradually like the heroine. And this is an important element for the harem genre.

This novel is simply amazing in my opinion. The romance is very very tasteful, as in female main characters are not thirsting for MC from day 1, but slowly develop fondness before becoming something like a crush. The blue, black and white haired trio, sorry alchemist (you still peak imo though), have interesting interactions and especially characters. Enough about the rest of the cast, lets get to the spicy part, our MC. What can I say though? The man kinda a chad (insert GigaChad. gif). Man is tasteful, feels refined,... more>> and is nice to hear talking, as in though process and mannerism. Now Now, I may not swing that way, but I gotta say, my man is the heartthrob. Misunderstandings do happen, and play somewhat of a big roll. Not major, but big enough I would say. Now, this is a Harem, so expect a couple of FMCs, but not brainless lasses who want a piece of our MCs D, but elegant aristoctras, expect Flame who is foulmouthed but still lovable (Me like Flame, Flame nice). Nitpicks about this novel? From what I can think of, I've heard of the ending being subpar, maybe even worse than subpar. But I still think that the majority of the experience is amazing, so having a somewhat bad ending is no reason to skip this. As of what the ending? I do not know a lot. Nobody dies though, so no tears there. Hmm... I forgot to say the usual. Story nicely done, not too slow or too fast (as of writing). Characters have I already said enough. Fighting System, as in mana, is explained nicely. Cannot think of anything more without writing an in-detail essay. Just give it a try, you like romance&harem good, you dont like it? its not prevelant enough, like every single line is about romance, to make it a bother to you. Princess Hong Biyeon best girl though. Also it has a manhwa (read it, artstyle is peak). <<less

Despite the generic name, this novel is actually pretty good. The characters aren't annoying, the powers are cool, and the fights aren't bad.

The story isn't rushed, and the female characters didn't suddenly go "omg I love him!" the moment the MC appears. The side characters aren't frustrating, so I think they are pretty decent.

The MC isn't dumb, he's a bit of a troll. When he's summoned to another world, he didn't suddenly got used to using his powers with sh*tty excuses like "I'm a try hard key board pvp master... more>> who's been playing this game for 1000 years blah blah bs". He actually needs to learn to get used to his powers.

The fight scenes are pretty good. The MCs ability is pretty cool, which made the fight scenes where he used his teleporting powers really fun to read.

Recommended to read.

Ok, so I got spoiled on the ending, and respectfully, in my opinion, it's f*cking shit. <<less

I absolutely loved this novel. I binge-read it in a few days. I recommend this to anyone reading this. However, I usually rate my novels with 5 stars, I had to take a star off for the rushed and open ending. I was like wtf is this ending and seriously? It was completely disappointing. While I get that it can be reasonable, but still. Other than the parts leading to the ending, it was really enjoyable. The start of the novel was great. The world-building is pretty good with the... more>> backstory behind everything. This novel is one of the better academy novels that I've read. Many of the arcs are pretty well written and engaging. Though I do recommend just enjoying the novel itself as a casual read. Don't think too much. There were small details that may be problematic for some, and the harem was also slightly annoying with the drama that came with it. At least it wasn't a major portion of the novel and was pretty bearable with the dense MC.

Overall, the novel was great except for the ending. The MC is pretty smart and op with his skills despite his handicap with his debuff/disorder. <<less

Love it.

BEST GIRL IS FLAME: The community will say Hong Bi Yeon and their arguments are pretty valid. But, personally, I will die on the Flame hill. This girl is the embodiment of the word "delusional", it's just so funny. The crazy stuffs her romcom filled brain can come up with to further fuel her misunderstanding about MC are just hilarious. She's basically Demiurge from Overlord if he had an infinite stock of Ainz romcom books in his brain. Overall the novel is a solid 4/5. For me, Flame brings... more>> it to 5/5.

Translation: It's better now. They finally fixed the small but annoying grammar and gender mistakes. They also fixed the horrible name change and now the character names respect the original KR version (for example, at first it was Fulaim -> then Edna -> now its Flame which sounds better for me who have read the original).

Plot: Your basic MC transmigrates into a magic academy and gets stronger to save the world while interacting with a mostly female cast... or so you thought. The mystery surrounding MC's past is just sooo entertaining to read. Both his real past and the past that other characters think he has. Granted you can come up with the answer to the mysteries yourself after some hints, but it's really how the author delivers those hints bits by bits, like a puzzle, that makes you want to read more.

Comedy gold: This is my third read and it still manages to make me laugh like I am mental. Misunderstanding is always my favorite type of comedy.

Characters: All have their story, personality, goals, conflicts, etc. They are the core of this novel.

World Building: Personally, I'm a bit fed up with classic fantasy. However, this one is set in a somewhat modern world (still fantasy), which is much more to my taste. <<less

For an academy/harem novel, this is quite well done for the first 200-300 chapters. The characters were somewhat 3-dimensional, a different world backgrounds from the cliche 'fantasy-magic world background' and a detailed power system. But like many other novels, the quality drops from then. The power level of the MC starts to spike suddenly, many characters introduced at once without digging deeper into their personality and backgrounds, rush plot points,... It's the typical '1st year I'm a normal academy student, 2nd year I start going around saving the world' of... more>> the KR academy/harem novel genre.

As an academy/harem novel connoisseur, I can say that this novel belongs to the top 3-5% of academy/harem novels but definitely not the best. <<less

It's not a bad commute read, but I do have a big gripe with it. The author doesn't seem to have drafted much around the middle because there are a lot of tangential subplots and plot elements being introduced. Like the concept of witches which were never mentioned in the first 200 chapters but which suddenly appear as a seemingly major antagonist.

Essentially, rather than a single overarching plot or hostile organization, this novel tends to explore a variety of unrelated incidents (e.g., the Edna-mirror incident) which are cleanly and completely... more>> resolved at the end of each short arc, but don't necessarily contribute to a 'main' plot otherwise, aside from the MC potentially gaining brownie points with another character or powering up.

This clearly differentiates it from similar academy-transmigration novels where the authors tell you in advance (or at least foreshadow) who and what the primary antagonists or major conflicts are, with each event being a precursor for the end of civilization or something similar. As a result, we're 251 chapters in so far and have no idea how the world supposedly ends or who's responsible for it, aside from what we already know from CHAPTER 1. Evil dragon. Even the MC just ambiguously refers to it as the 'end of the world' with no further details.

That is, the subplots progress in the form, incident begins -> MC describes incident -> incident progresses -> MC resolves incident -> new incident begins. No foreshadowing. No connection to previous arcs (aside from brownie or reverse-brownie points). It's not even apparent that the MC has made any long-term plans, he just kind of solves things as he goes, which is a bit depressing for a transmigrator. I'm convinced that he's only going to infodump when the final arc begins.

There are also obvious issues with not really fleshing out anyone other than the MC's harem. Even within his harem, all of them are either ice queens or airheaded. If they didn't have looks and magic then they wouldn't have anything, because they sure don't have personality. There isn't even comedy to redeem them. The only funny part might be the fact that a reverse dating sim turned into a standard harem game.

So ultimately I think it probably lands somewhere on the lower tiers of academy-transmigration novels. It's not a bad commute read, but it can't be called a good one either. <<less

The story is about a talentless MC who through enlightenment becomes a magical flasher (a person, especially a man, who exposes their g**itals in public.) in magic school, and he is somehow very good at it, creating many chaotic situations, yet remains anonymous (+ some big misunderstanding become part of the series comedy).

Given how serious the other students and villains are, MC's flashing moments often become their cause of distress during magic combats.

I'm still not sure how MC will be the no.1 graduate in the academy without getting expelled, but... more>> that's the charm of the novel, finding out how he will achieve it.

=============================

The above story review is just me joking around. Sry, I got the itch from reading the title >.>

Enjoyed the read so far. 5/5 (C181)

There are some plotholes and plotarmors, but nothing to make big fuss about.

Part of the character development revolves around a big misunderstanding.

Story while mostly centered around the MC, often explores other characters as well (especially the 3 main heroines) <<less

Truly loved the story, world-building, and especially all the side characters, right up to the ending.

The novel quality declined as the story started to depart from its academy-style setting fully. Many characters felt forgotten and around 300/400 chapters in, the novel began to lose what initially interested me. The ending to top it all off felt especially abrupt, ending the story in less than 5 chapters with the author suddenly remembering that characters other than the MC were important.

Changed 2/5 to 1/5. Story filler padding content gets amplified at least 3x by chapter 100 when MC's power-system becomes lessons on Korean cultivation 101 with all the nonsense that comes with: yin and yang, the tao, divine whatever, the heavens, heavenly whatever nonsense, breathing, etc.

Half of the names come from the School of Silly Names™, Korean Edition. One of the female leads is named Full Frame (or Full Flame, Furu Freimu, etc, etc.)

The author uses a significant amount of handwaving for major events in order to avoid actually... more>> describing concepts at the very beginning without any real description. Example: MC gets three questions perfectly correct that are super hard and super tricky at the very start of the story. This is used as a main plot point for quite some time and the branching start for a lot of ongoing misunderstandings.

What did he answer for those questions? NO ONE EVER KNOWS OR EXPLAINS IT. But they'll gush endlessly about how hard it is, how a student couldn't solve it, and that even the top powerhouses of the world couldn't solve it when they were students. Hang on, bruh. Why everyone so goddamn ret*rded in webnovels at the start just to make MC look better in comparison? Got nothing better than SUPER PUN KNOWLEDGE?

The only thing you can be sure of is that the questions required an amount of Korean-word-game creativity at the level of s*upid puns and wordplay. No. Really. That's how it's explained. Additionally, MC even refers to related content as "nonsense questions." He even had a study session for a whole chapter with one of the female leads characters just to play silly word games with her. Might as well be Korean puns or dad jokes since it's in the same vein of bad humor.

Most of the story is mid or lesser. The author avoids having the MC make any actually difficult choices about his path through the story because quests pop up that basically tell him "do this thing or die." MC just ends up being the happy victim of circumstances as the author ever-so-steadily removes all agency or personal motivation from the MC other than "survive."

TLDR: Incredibly s*upid beginning with the pun nonsense. MC is basically a god of knowledge in comparison to the mortal minds that he stands above since his thoughts are a treasure trove of lame jokes. Story is mid with a lot of silly names and inconsistent, yet inflated descriptions of major events that are effectively left blank. MC got three puns right on a trick question quiz, and everyone is super-amazed about his genius. They're so amazed that he LITERALLY SCORES A ZERO ON EVERY OTHER PART OF THE EXAM, then gets placed into the special S Class. It's got a misunderstanding tag, but the execution is painful due to the fact that everyone's having an entirely different conversation whenever they talk to each other. <<less

Had to create an account here after I finished my reading, just to review that one.

I really liked this novel bc it had everything I like in a novel, good and hardworking MC, cute and supportive heroines, decent writing and some good plots.

Until I got spoiled and dropped the novel for some time.

... more>> I've been reading Flashing Genius since last year but due to spoilers I dropped it for some time, however, after the manhwa adptation I came back to at least finish it.

Oh god, what a mistake.

Not only the spoilers about the end were correct, they were even worse

Spoiler

Basically a Bad Ending.

The final arc was pretty much rushed with less than 30 chapters to end the entire thing.

After Mc's last adventure he vanishes from the world for almost 2 years because he got teleported to some unknown place. A lot of things happens but he comes back at the final battle to save everyone.

The thing is, after this, MC reveals that he became a god, and he won't be able to stay in their world because of this, he then vanishes, again, in front of all his heroines and friends.

In the last 2 chapters the heroines form a plan to travel back in time to when they got accepted into the Academy and the Novel ends with the next sentence

"Anyway, from now on, a new story has begun..."

That's all 👍

Honestly I came across this because of the manwha that just started and I couldn't hold myself back from wanting to know what happened next. About a week later I've devoured everything available in translation right now and I'm in pain because I can't continue.

The story itself has the same baseline as many other reincarnated into a game style stories. MC becomes a character in the game and proceeds to play through the game with the help of an item that has the majority of everything from the game recorded... more>> to make his journey as smooth as possible. The real catch and difference though is that the story begins to change, sometimes drastically, because of his involvement. Another big takeaway is that the supporting cast actually grows and develops. The female leads actually have amazing progress and growth and it makes you want to support each one. Without spoiling anything, the story has its flaws but the I think the overarching ideas and setting make up those differences although I do wish some stuff was either slowed down or explained a little bit better.

As for the translation, it is superb. I've read countless translated stories and this is among the top for the simple fact that it continues to get better as you go on and the TL notes are really helpful in the ways that they should be. My only real complaints about the translation is that I wish the consistency that is shown in later chapters was given to the earlier chapters. The early chapters are a little rough in some ways but by no means detract from the storytelling, just is a little inconsistent. If time permits I wish the earlier chapters could be updated to the same level but I understand if that's not a priority. My next issue, and this could simply be a lost in translation item, is that I wish it was sometimes easier to determine who is speaking. If re-read a few times it'll make sense but I wish I could immediately tell who is talking. I don't think there is "X said this" in the original and the translation reflects this but it can become confusing with many kinds of dialogue between 2 or 3 characters. My last complaint, even though entirely personal and not a real complaint, is that I wish a new chapter came out everyday until the story finishes.

Overall though I recommend this to anyone who likes school setting stories with interesting characters, magic that feels based in its setting, and deep world building that, even at Ch. 160, I'm still learning about in depth. A+ to the translation team and author for such a great story. <<less

Enjoying this read! If you like TNE I think you'll like this too, it has similar vibes.

I don't mind harems as long as the MC isn't a womanizer that has 10 wives so the harem is fine for me. All the characters are nicely written and not annoying so that's also a plus.

From the other reviews it seems that there'll be a lot more to the story in the future so I'm excited for more!

It is quite a good novel. I like how at the beginning, the MC always tried to look more powerful than he actually is and how everyone around him always seems to overestimate his ability. Though as the story progress, he did become more powerful (not as strong as the other recurring characters though) and the story becomes more like a fetch quest. This is one of those novels that has a good beginning yet fail the ending. The author also decided to remove the reward system, because after chapter... more>> 219 the Constellation Project reward is never seen again, probably because the MC has the ability to grow stronger just by training himself now (He could already do this in the earlier chapter, but as his understanding of the twelve divine moons and the amount of his blessings grow, his growth rate begins to skyrocket. Almost everytime he train and battle, he would reach an enlightenment).
Spoiler

The ending also seems a bit sudden, The first grade has almost 200 chapters, so did the second grade although it has less arc, but the third grade is entirely skipped by having the MC piece together the White Dragon for a full year. And the fact that the MC can't even stay in the world he saved because he has become a god and god can only watch on the world not participate is such a dumbass reason to make the MC suffer. What is it with Korean authors and making their MCs has the short end of the stick at the end? And the fact they make it seem like all of this is supposed to happen this way despite the fact that we are already shown that the MC can in fact defeat the Black Dragon without the help of the White Dragon (which in turn make the MC a god.) which just means that the MC can save the world without being a god. I mean, he already have Ha Tae-Ryeong sword which can find weakness on anything, yet he barely ever use this sword because of some restriction which he should have already be able to overcome with his growth near the end. We didn't even see Eisel's dad at the end!

[collapse]

Overall, disappointing ending, the novel is good until the last 100 chapters near the end. There are lots of stories and aspects that are abandoned near the end. Only reason why I read this until the end is because I am already too invested at 350 chapters in. I forced myself to read the rest (because it is just 200 chapters left) and ended up disappointed. <<less
