The author seems to have a misconception about classical taste when it comes to food.

It's spread does not start from the top, the common folk starts them when the ingredient is available locally. The nobles then starts to adapt their own version, fancy and elaborate, at least once and if it's to their taste, then served to others and their noble circle adapts it as well. The masses would then try to copy the fancy style that they are served to the nobles, bragging "even nobles eat this".

If the ingredients... more>> are from outside the country, or even from a new continent, it would never spread fast nor easily, since it's gonna be exclusive to nobles. It doesn't have anything to do with the world being otherworldly, that's just how "exclusivity" works.

Moreover, Magic, which is a fundamental thing on the world is so... Underdeveloped the author didn't even think of using it to solve refrigeration issue, you can just say magic is non-existent. I guess the author tried hard enough to think of using magic to produce modern junk food in a medieval setting but that's as far as they went.

Still the fun of this novel is staked more on spreading modern junk foods to medieval fantasy, you can just imagine how that'll go. <<less

This story also reminds me of Black Tech Internet Cafe System, but with food instead of games.

And just like in Black Tech, the characters don't react appropriately, the impact of the innovations are repetitive, and there's no genuine payoff. (Granted I'm only 31 chapters in)

However, I can't picture some sweeping story arc where the main character goes, "Oh my god. I'm creating a sugar addiction and obesity crisis in the world; I'm giving people high blood pressure and cholesterol!" Or some demon king appears and instead of ravaging the... more>> country, he goes, "I'm suing this m-fcker for giving me type-2 diabetes!"

I think it'll follow the Black Tech model of

    • Look at the shiny thing.
    • See how we enjoy the shiny thing?
    • I'm an upper class individual enjoying the shiny thing!
    • Look at this other shiny thing!

I’m a huge sucker for novels that introduce modern concepts to a medieval world, but I don’t like this novel at all.

It’s too simplistic. MC takes an idea from earth, hires someone else to make it (no details or showing process, just time skip X months), it’s done and now everyone’s praising or hating the product until they try it and now they’re addicted. Now repeat that 5 or 6 times in the 20 chapters I’ve read. MC has no part in making products except for pitching the idea. He... more>> also has no part in selling it either, he just gives it to whoever wants to distribute it. <<less

The concept wears off very fast. Then there's nothing left

No mystery, no suspense, no build up, no challenge. Nothing at all. Just look, food idea, ok here's the idea. Then, somehow, it's made and praises everywhere.

Repeat, repeat, repeat.
