I Became Cinderella’s Vicious Stepsister

Liu Yu woke up and discovered that she had transmigrated into the novel she read before she went to sleep.

She became the vicious stepsister of Cinderella, the protagonist. Early this morning, she had let her cat bite her sister’s Eurasian collared dove. At night, she had ordered someone to gouge out the eyes of a helpless young man. The young man turned out to be the reincarnation of the God of Light!

Her future was bleak, her blood will be s**ked dry, and then she will be hung. Liu Yu weighed her options:

1. The Duke of Dark Night was already smitten by the beautiful and kind Cinderella.

2. Prince Carlos has been searching all over the world for the owner of the crystal shoe. She should give up on him.

3. Only the God of Light had yet to fall for her younger sister’s charms.

Liu Yu looked at the young man who just had his eyes gouged out because of the original owner of the body. He had lost his memory and was currently in a dire strait. Liu Yu used a high-pitched voice and said, “My God! How could someone do something so vicious to you?”

The helpless young man: “Are you the one who saved me?”

“Yes.”

——————————

Young Gaia:

When I fell in love with her, I truly thought she was the kindest, gentlest, and purest girl in the world.

The God of Light, Gaia:

I have never seen a woman in this world that could be more vicious, more hypocritical, and more absurd than Bellia. She could tell me that she loves me while she dug my eyes out. I wanted to kill her but couldn’t do it in the end.

This is a love story that begins with deception, and then love, followed by the woman chasing the man, and then the man chasing after his wife.

Well, the MC is truly a villain; Selfish, Ambitious, greedy, and hypocritical. Very similar to a concubine in ancient China. If the ML wasn't indulgent to her, she would have died 100 times over.

The story mainly focuses on the MC trying to survive by making the God of Light fall in love with her all while seeing the fanatical worship the world has for him.

And she comes to hate their narrow-mindedness. Ultimately vowing to break the order.

To be honest, writing this type of "anti-hero" is really difficult because you either... more>> make them completely black or redeemable.

But the way the author wrote the character...I really couldn't like her. At all.

Why? Well, when you think she shows development and becomes hard hearted she just goes back to how she used to be.

Spoiler

Throughout the first part of the chapters, the author shows how cunning and manipulative the MC is by explaining that she won't let fate control her, this world is cruel to those who dont love god, she won't fall in love ect...

With all this explanation, the reader gets a sense that the MC is very determined and hard hearted.

But reality is very different. The MC, Belia (Li Yue) uses machinations to get what she wants but then she wants more things. She gets greedy and then resorts to using the G.o.L (god of light) again even though she says she truly loves him.

But then when her mother is burned at the stake for heressay, an important turning point in her life, she kills the initiator and the text says "something broke inside me too" but she just goes back to how she used to be.

Mind you this event happens right after she realizes that God is too indifferent. Like WAY to indifferent. So it really speaks volumes when she goes back to being the same way despite being set on a goal. At this point it really shows how hypocritical she is.

[collapse]

To make it worse, I feel like the author uses the MC's "excessive" beauty and "no one can't accept if he does this because of his face" as an excuse to move the relationship between the two leads along.

Additionally, there's a lot of beliefs in the story that are contradictory don't make sense. I'd like to elaborate but this review would be too long.

Anyways, at the end of the day, this story is fiction so take my review as you will.

Enjoi and Adieu!

P.s. I would have believed it more if the ML was written as the jade emperor with how overbearing and controlling he is. Its difficult to apply Eastern values to a western setting for a lot of reasons. <<less

Seriously this novel is fun, the fML is viscous in a way to escape death. She gives a candy and a slap at the same time. Calculated the god of light at the back of her hand. The god of light was eaten dry by belia??????????I really love her back and forth. ML was calculated but couldn't break the formula when he was not recorvered.

I really reallyyyy love this story. The MC is not the typical innocent female protagonist with a cheat power or anything, she strives hard to overcome cinderella's 'heroine halo'. She is vicious and tricky and sometimes downright evil. XD But she is so beautiful as well.

The ML is.... At one point kinda started hating him :) He gets better, but at the very very end, and sometimes he is cute but he breaks her heart too many times.

[At one point he protects cinderella instead of MC even though MC is... more>> his lover, and so MC loses her whole left hand. :) :) :) ] <<less

This is really good, the MC is vicious, manipulative and full of deception but I love her soo much, the ML is the perfect god who was kind but also extremely cruel, he can't love as he is the creator of all beings, but he will also change. The oriMC is pure hypocrite who will turn black in the long run.

I finished this two day straight staying overnight despite my work haha, the beginning of this story have a different feelings from any other Chinese novel, it... more>> kinda feels like Japanese or korean idk why though, but regardless of that if you like: antihero MC that will turn good, possessive ml, slow romance I recommended this!! <<less

This is by far the best Chinese book I’ve ever read!!! The plot is amazing. I binge read this book cause I couldn’t put it down. It’s written really well and I haven’t ever read a book that is like it so I anyone can recommend any, I would be really happy. The whole concept was amazing, it went from a transmigration book to this mind blowing stuff about gods and her wanting to become the goddess and just overall I would definitely recommend. 100/100

This novel was a really rough journey. Even if it ends with a happy ending, I still consider this as tragedy. There was not a time that I did not need a break from it because you can't just binge read it at the go. You will need to keep your emotions in check. They will hurt each other so much it reached you. A human's selfishness, possessiveness and greed will be highlighted throughout the novel and how a God reacts to them. This novel might even be blasphemous but... more>> just remember it is only fiction. You will feel frustrations and anger along the way. Frustration to the both of them. It is just so full of drama. <<less

This book has been eating my brains since forever, it has stayed in my psyche from the moment I finished it. Sometimes I forget about it but when I do remember it, it's still so so so frustrating. I have never read a novel in which the author despises their main character so much while also preferring the male lead in every aspect. It was genuinely upsetting to read.

The premise is very interesting and the start of the book was fantastic. I truly love Belia, she is one of my... more>> favorite characters of all time.

The tension between Belia and Gaia was amazing. I was always on the edge of my seat, panicked for Belia.

Belia is just so interesting, her schemes are well-written and her character is complex. Belia is not a good person, she is very much a "villainess" but in a way you wouldn't expect. She does "bad" things and is selfish and greedy but not because she's a truly selfish and greedy person.

The things she supposedly desires, she doesn't even want. Whether its status, wealth, or attention. She's such a fake greedy person, she talks a big game about how much she wants this and that and how much she's willing to do to get it but in the end, it's all a bandage to her real desires.

She's like a neglected child, desperately grabbing onto things to prove her existence to the world but she never truly fills the emptiness in her heart because those things aren't what she wants. It's only because wanting provides her with a sense of normalcy that she acts as though she wants it. All those glitter and gold, it obfuscates her true desires and distracts her from her real vulnerable need for love and understanding.

The things she truly want, she never puts out in the open because she knows she can't have those things. So she acts as though she doesn't even want them. She's always hiding herself, whether it's under her beauty and charms or under her title of "villainess", she pretends that's all she is on the surface because she doesn't want to think about the hurt and suffering she's been through and is in.

Another facet of Belia that I love is how she wants to be more free than anyone else, when she enters the world of the novel, of Gaia, she despises the sheeps that flock to a God and religion, she has no respect for "God" and is willing to do anything to change her destiny. So she fights and scramble and shed tears and blood, desperately for that chance at freedom.

Spoiler

Even becoming the Goddess of Destiny.

[collapse]

It's something that she truly believes in, that humans do not need God. She has never needed one, no matter how desperate she was.

But this is where the story begins to fall apart because the author doesn't agree with Belia here, actually the author doesn't agree with most of Belia's thoughts and desires throughout the entire novel and works to dismantle everything that Belia stands for to a tee. The author has always squarely been on the side of Gaia and is unwilling to explore the possibility of Belia's opinions because Belia's beliefs are always clouded behind her emotions. Which the author uses as a crutch to disavow Belia's perspective.

Belia's disrespect of faith, oh it's because she's too emotional and sad.

Belia's desire to be free and for others to be free, oh she's just being childish because she doesn't understand the world.

Belia's hopes for familial love, oh she's such a naive child, she can't actually expect people to be like that.

Again and again Belia is proven to be wrong and only Gaia is mature and right.

Spoiler

Examples of Belia being proven wrong:

    1. When the most devout man of the church who Belia thought of as a threat confront Belia about her disrespect of faith, he shouts at her about how she thinks she's better than everyone because she has no faith, but she's wrong. Faith is good because they all want it. Belia is left speechless and doesn't prove her own perspective because the author agrees with the devout man. This is Belia being exposed and slapped in the face moment, look she pretends to be intellectual and hates faith but its all because she's selfish and narrow-minded, look how conceited and disrespectful she is! Belia's perspective is not taken seriously at all, despite the fact that she isn't wrong, faith can definitely blind people and leave them with no room to move for themselves. This should have been her chance to show her perspective but its used as a chance to shut her down and punish her.
    1. When Belia becomes the Goddess of Destiny because she saw the injustice that she herself faced and her friend faces who is the victim of SA being burned at the stake because her own SA is a "crime" against God. This is supposed to be her moment to change the world and free herself, her friend and give all humans the ability to choose their own destiny but instead she just becomes another God and forget about any of her convictions before. She wallows in her sadness and it's proven again that Gaia is correct, she's just an immature child who doesn't understand what humans really want and how necessary God is because when she becomes one she follows Gaia's footsteps.
    1. When Belia sees a poor mother having her child taken away because of their family's debt, the mother fights for her child but almost gives up and let her child be sold. Belia hopes that the mother will not abandon the little girl because that's what she wants for herself, she doesn't want to be abandon but she was as a child. In the end the mother doesn't abandon the child and Belia is comforted but turns out it was all because of Gaia's magic, he manipulated the mother to fight for her child and gave Belia the fantasy of familial love. Again, another moment when Belia's beliefs are stolen away from her to prove how good and correct Gaia is. Belia is just so naive and silly for thinking, humans truly love each other that Gaia had to step in to help her.
      [collapse]
Everytime, the author's conclusion is that Belia is wrong and too immature, only Gaia is so understanding and is willing to indulge her. All of Belia's convictions are born out of her own emotional nature and her trauma, you can't take them seriously. Only Gaia's perspective is serious and affects the world. Its downright insidious.

The author doesn't even give Belia the chance to exist with weigh, everything she cares for is just too silly and too foolish compared to Gaia who is good and perfect and everyone loves him (canon by the way).

Its as if the novel is built around punishing Belia, everything she does is a crime that she needs to suffer retribution for but the things Gaia does is even more disgusting but he is never punished for it. Belia's crimes are so insignificant compared to Gaia, so what if she deceived and seduce him, she doesn't have any power against him. Neither magic nor status. She's a clown dancing around for his entertainment, he can possess her love and her body but she is always inferior.

How can "emotional power" compare to actual concrete powers? If it did, the scene where
Spoiler

Belia lost her arm wouldn't happen. That is after they are sort of in a relationship together and he likes her.

[collapse]

She has nothing over him except for an illusory love that can be taken away at any time.

While the power Gaia exert over her is so appalling, but it never even gets addressed.

Spoiler

Gaia not only SA Belia many times, he imprisoned her, and forced her to marry to him. Not to mention when she leaves him and lives with her mother, he decides to isolate her from her mother by revealing her identity as a transmigrator which forced her mother to attempt to kill her. Something that almost breaks her because she so desperately wants a mother's love and thought she had finally gotten it in this world. The only reason she was willing to go to God's realm in the first place is to find a cure to save her mother. So he knew how much she cared but Gaia is so self-righteous, he wanted to force her mother away from her so he could show her that he is the only one that truly loves her. After that we have the scene where he manipulated the mother with the little girl to deceive her. Everything he does is unforgivable, he is controlling and horrible to her, he doesn't think about her perspective at all but the author is not concern about this. Gaia never gets punished for his actions. Instead Gaia is applauded for being so good to her. In the end, he even sacrificed himself, what a perfect man.

[collapse]

I don't know what kind of crematorium it is because its not a crematorium for Gaia, instead its Belia who is constantly punished. It made the book feel as though it revolves around hating women.

Everytime a woman dare step out of line, they're severely punished. Every thought a woman has is just silly nonsense. Everything she does is just based on her emotional nature.

Belia is never allowed to have convictions, instead the author imprisons her in a cage of illogical contradictions. So in the end, Belia doesn't even feel like a character, all the development she has in her journey is tore down to reinforce her unreliable emotional nature.

So in the end, Belia's story is almost the same as the beginning, she hasn't changed, the world has hardly changed. All of it is made up lip service and Gaia has been right all along.

Truly a story that made me feel like I was going insane.

I would not recommend to anyone who likes women, but if you want to read a novel about how a man SA, isolated, and punish a "bad" women, this one is for you. One star but I added another one just because I love Belia as a character. <<less

AAAA FINALLY END!

My rating when reading go from 5/5 to 4.5/5 to 3.0/5 (cause I hate you author) to 4/5 (cause shubaow didn't finish it) and lastly to 1000000/5 (author write a qt (quick transmigration) story plsss, this is tooo short.)

Mtl this novel at shubaow and it is not complete, stuck at ch 178 but thank goodness that I remembered that there are 181 ch.

... more>> Btw, I love this novel. It is interesting and even when it comes at the boring part, author still manages to make it moree interesting.

*My review contained bad grammatical error

FL was bad really suited the word villainess. Even the I still like it bcs not always we see story like this and I like how she didn't become the kind of MC that straight up change for the man they liked.

Her arrogant, cunningness, boldness, and her being willful, all of them, I just love it.

Spoiler

And then I disagree with the comment that said about the "important turning point of her live" and then said thatFL just goes back to the way she used to be.

I think that part is not "the important turning point of her live" since the event like that already happen before her mother got burned. This part most likely show us that FL streghthen her determination.

Then the ML was pretty much fine, althought I kinda hate him a lil XD. But in the description it states that this story involve the girl chasing a boy and then the man chasing her wife. I kinda think that this is just too false. It is more like the girl chasing a boy and *insert many event here since I forgot* and then near the end of the novel finally the event the man chasing his wife happen.

It is just.. Too.. I forgot the word (bad). CAUSE I NEED MOREE SWEET PART

[collapse]

Anyway, in the term if fluff, this novel sill be 3/5. Not to high and not to low.

It is a fun ride. Good story.

I think there is something that I forgot to writeto the author but I know that I hate author for that. But still AUTHOR AND TRANSLATOR THANK YOUU.

btw if you mtl the novel shubaow is a good web but it is not finished so just prepare your eyes and read the extra chapter at other website. <<less

If the entire book is a stick the last few chapters are like carrots. The entire read was bumpy and I almost gave up several times.

As a practicing muslim, this felt wrong at many levels but then I hypnotised myself to look at it as another chinese immortality story.

I wonder if the author secretly wanted to admonish those extreme religious people who take it upon themselves to punish people inhumanely in the place of god. Maybe.

The entire novel can be divided into segments like encounter, acquaintance, courtship, love, betrayal and... more>> so on.

The couple is not entirely likeable because they're not perfect protagonist material like other MCs who won't hurt their beloved. Our MC is contradictory, she doesn't want to hurt or see other humans in pain but when it comes to her own survival, she won't hesitate to take extreme measures.

The ML is portrayed as an aloof bystander who was pulled down by MC gradually.

Louis is like satan who was thrown out of god's country and is always upto some mischief.

Natasie as the OG MC is like a male magnet, she uses her weakness, docility and submission to boost and satisfy the male dominating ego. Her protagonist halo further smoothens her path And with the help of her lovers she defeats her opponents.

However at the end, all the truths and lies gets mixed up and world is not what it seems to be.

And yes, MC to that world is like Corona to ours. She overturns the world with her bug like existence. <<less

While I'm only on chapter one, the premise is very interesting! The translation is nice and easy to read and our FL is shaping up to be likeable.

I especially like the Cinderella story twist going on. I've never seen that done in a transmigration novel before!

I've stopped at chapter 118 not because the story is not good but because I'm not up for something long right now. Anyway, the novel is great, unexpectedly. Like the others said, it is a different transmigration story where the the og host of the body of the MC has already done something villainous-like which doesn't happen in most transmigration novels. The world-building is not elaborated that much, what is present in the story is the only focus of it which I surprisingly do not care much. The mc's attitude... more>> and character are well build but the side characters do not have much past background. This novel is more like of "who's important gets the limelight" type of background in everything. (I've mtl'ed this and I think my grammar isn't right after I've read it TvT)

Characters:

Bellia:

She's too an untrustworthy character where if she would say that she loves the ml, I would doubt her.
Spoiler

I didn't even know she genuinely liked the incarnation of the ML if she didn't say it in her monologue. I don't trust her love anymore it's not that I even trust it in the first place but still, despite that, I like her character. She's headstrong and independent, I like it when she doesn't do anything but the side characters that originally should have liked the og FL got interested in her and she uses their feelings accordingly. She's not perfect, she has too many flaws that before reading this, I don't like traits in an MC but after reading this, I still don't like it but she's an exemption. Idk if she did everything right but I only know that she did everything to survive, it that wrong? In the eyes of the victim and others, yes, but in the eyes of a reader who oversees all? No. She's perfectly flawed and I like it.

[collapse]

Ml:

Spoiler

All comments about him are def a spoiler. We met him together with the MC through the og novel's trajectory. The MC plucked his eyeballs and now that I'm writing this, the author didn't explain why the og host plucked the ml's eyeballs out of nowhere. Anyway, he started as Gaia Leslie or they mostly call him Mr. Leslie. He's the perfect definition of an untainted and pure human. He's kind but not overly. Benevolent but knows the limit. That's why he got tricked by the MC, maybe he doubted her but because of his kind nature, he chose to trust her. He's s*upid but only to Bellia.

[collapse]

I'll continue this some other time, overall I'll rate this 8.5/10. <<less

The FL falls into antihero protagonist... She is somewhat vicious+very cunning... In the first half it was very good but later it became somewhat flat.. And this novel's God is really very easily manipulated which I found somewhat strange... But overall it's a great novel with a white lotus+green tea+black belly +etc. antihero combination female lead ??

The story is really good. I will not bother with moral cz she's the step sister. She's the bad one. Title already hints at it. I like the protagonist. She serves exactly as she promised.

Later she became kind of obsessed with power. Well, she had to be. As the story progresses, she gradually knows the distance between God and human. Gold and her relationship is unequal. That's why she desperately tries to gain power. After all, she's no white lotus who will sit around that one day God will take... more>> pity on me.

Some reader complains that she is selfish. You have to understand that's the point. She's the step sister, not Cinderella. No prince is coming back for her with a glass shoe.

Please don't give bad review if you don't understand.

In some places, I felt pity for the god cz the heroine is too cruel. Then again I could feel the character's desperation.

It's a good story cz author took some common elements and then made it into something unique. Many author promises for an anti hero protagonist but they can't hold on. Author did a great job! <<less

What I can say here. Our FL sure is a very cunning woman. She does everything by hook or by crook to seduce ML's heart. Who wouldn't do that right especially in the risk of their timely death if ML recover his memory. Their relationship in the early chapter are a bit too painful for me to read as our ML heart is simply impenetrable. And he sure treat her as a disposable existence in his mind. What dog blood relationship I'd say. But I still can't help to dearly... more>> love this novel. <<less
