I became the childhood friend of the Northern Grand Duchess. I guess it’s fun to tease her.

If you pretend that this is not a reincarnation story and MC is not an adult on the inside it's great. Two kids connecting with each other and relationship maturing between them slowly throughout their childhood and their teens.

Alas it's a reincarnation story so whenever something cute or romantic happens my brain interrupts it with "dude is 30 on the inside, that's super icky man". So I can't enjoy it. And the worst part is, reincarnation aspect doesn't really add anything to the story. Story is icky for no reason.

Echoing what the other reviewer said.

It's actually a very good novel, the slow-burn romance is well-written and the characters bounce off of each other decently well.

However, the transmigration aspect serves zero purpose in the story, and while I normally don't care about the mental age gap that comes from this trope, this one especially feels a bit in your face and unnecessary. The MC isn't creepy or anything, but the author relies on his transmigration status to explain his maturity, and characters joke about how he feels like an old... more>> man a lot (which he is, as he's already in his 30s by the time he reincarnated), so this aspect is pretty hard to ignore.

I can't see why the story couldn't just have been written the same with just the MC being an exceptionally emotionally mature kid. There are several very minor story beats where the MC's past life is mentioned, but nothing more than that, and this detail is pretty much unnecessary, despite how prominent it is. Even the fact that the MC recognizes that he's in a novel that he read never got mentioned again past the *first chapter*, which is a bit ridiculous. It really felt like the author initially planned the whole novel around this concept only to change their mind barely into writing it. <<less
