Kim Woo-jin, a recessive omega who lived his entire life in solitude without a shred of happiness, dies and is reincarnated as the Duke of the North in a tragic romance novel he once read.

Now, he is Lucas Rion—a character doomed to misfortune. Losing his parents at a young age, cursed with a failing body, and ultimately meeting a tragic end while his sister is taken by the empire. Determined not to follow the original storyline, Lucas does everything in his power to change his fate.

Then, one day, the empire’s first prince, Leon Theian, unexpectedly appears in the North.

“Lucaas!”

As it turns out, Leon is cursed to transform into a tiger. But strangely enough, when he stays close to Lucas, the curse weakens.

If Lucas can break the prince’s curse and raise him well, he might just shape him into a strong emperor and change the future.

With that goal in mind, he nurtures Leon into a capable ruler and sends him back to the empire.

However…

“I thought about it every night, Lucas—how much I wanted to hold you.”

A suffocating pheromone, thick with desire, coils around Lucas’s throat. His breath grows labored, resistance slipping away as his mind begins to blur.

The boy he once raised is now trying to claim him.

3 stars.

This is one of those stories that would benefit if it had a time skip. The reason why I say this is how the story is introduced from the summary to the very first chapter.

The summary is subtly suggestive and the first chapter is spicy. And all of a sudden, the story turns into something wholesome with a very slow burn. The story itself isn't bad, but the whiplash of genre does make the anticipation rather frustrating. And I don't mean that as a thirsty reader.

MC is okay. He... more>> character is shaped by tragedy but the reader probably won't connect with him well until later into the story. The beginning chapters is majorly focused on the ML.

The ML on the other hand has plenty of development to look forward to. Lots of foreshadowing that he's going to be the yandere type despite his current happy-go-lucky personality. The story is currently based around his interactions with the world around him and is the current plot driver.

Nothing too exciting so far. The usual royal drama. Just really slow pacing and I hope there is a time skip to make it up. <<less

So far this seems pretty sweet and wholesome, with the MC Lucas simply viewing the ML Leon as the child he is, unlike some stories that try to push a romantic tension while one character is still a minor/ child (I know that's a huge turn off for most people with stories like this, including me). Leon is obviously a kid with a crush, but it's portrayed in the most innocent and sweet way, to the point he obviously has no idea what he's feeling.

Lucas himself is an upright and... more>> sweet person who wants to genuinely help Leon, especially since he empathizes with Leon's situation. He finds Leon to be an endearing child and is taking the situation seriously. There's no sketchiness present, no oddness added even to narration that try to provide a quasi "romantic" vibe to any scenes. Leon has a cute crush on the handsome grand Duke of the north, but that's it. Lucas isn't even put in the realm of a parental figure for Leon, but a temporary guardian role.

All in all? This feels a lot more like a kid that's going to grow up and be trying to romance a former teacher rather than a "raising my future lover" vibe. I won't go too into it, since spoilers, but I won't be surprised if the age gap is the least of Lucas's worries when Leon starts trying to romance him, and I'm really looking forward to it. <<less
