Translator Review:

I wanna define this novel with the word 'Pun'. The story is about a guy who get reincarnates into a game. The MC is a effeciency manic and hardcore gamer, who doesnt give a damn about apperances, plot or anything else. He always goes for max effecience route and only used male characters in the game because of effeciency that is before he got reincranted into one of the games as a girl. Yes this is a Gender Bender.

He reincarnates into a body of an Orphan girl named Oknodie... more>> and continues her effeciency antics like keep hiding at random places or eating stat giving stone and what not which gives hilarious impression to others that she was ab*sed and had a very hard life and everyone pities her when in actuality she does everything for effeciency sake. The names of the other characters in the story are also pun. The pun names have a very good reason, well actually its just the Master of the organization and the adopted father of Oknodie who gave these hilarious names.

Since she was a guy before posession she behaves like guys which again caused people to pity her because of hard upbrining.

The novel is full of comedy, misunderstandings, pun and what not. Its an action and adventure as well of a efficiency freak. Obviously has slice of life elements as well.

Now for those looking for typical romance, obsession and harem which is mostly present in Novelpia novel, you might not like this and might not be to your taste. <<less

This one is pretty good. The MC isn't s*upid, there is a lack of possessive stalkers, and the comedy is actually funny. Quality book out of 10.

This novel is written badly to the point that the translator is even having trouble sometimes understanding what the author means.

The world building is all over the place and there is absolutely nothing original about it. It's barely saved by the idea that the world is based on a video game of some sort so I'll give it some slack.

The plot revolves around absurdity and characters barely pass as actual people. Sometimes the characters just appear out of nowhere without much explanation.

Spoiler

like at one point the crux of the story is dolphin shorts vs stockings... amazing high stakes conflict and world building...

[collapse]

The protagonist acts like an actual child rather than an adult transmigrated into a video game, but I guess that's the point of the premise. Honestly, the story is only saved by the fact that the misunderstandings (between the protagonist and everyone else) is funny but that's it.

Even if it's one of those "turn your brain off and read it" stories, it's still a struggle to read through it. <<less

4.5 out of 5.

I'm sure I will eventually redo this review into something more helpful later, but this page could use more reviews now.

This story is one that I think is probably a bit polarized, in that I think there is probably a binary response to it. Those that enjoy comedy and find this humor extremely entertaining, making this a really fun enjoyable read. And those who it just doesn't resonate and they don't care for it a ton. Probably in a similar category to cult classic movies.

I suppose... more>> a 3rd category of people just enjoy the cute antics/shenanigans as well without fully engaging in the humor.

This is not really meant to be a serious series. More of a "lighthearted" slice of life adult slapstick/parody/misunderstanding series, primarily set in a crazy academy. (seriously this place is ridiculous)

If I were to sum up this story in one sentence I would probably go with: Shenanigans in a wacky hellish academy with puns.

Plot wise the story is about a adult man who ends up being reincarnated into a game he knew really well as a (orphan?) girl named Oknodie. She ends up being adopted and named by a "noble" man who she never met becoming his daughter, who sends servants to train/educate her to go to a world renowned academy. And from the get go, a fundamental part of the story's humor is established.

See her "papa" actually is a super notorious leader of a terrifying assassin organization, who sends his subordinates to kidnap kids to "adopt" and train to become assasins. His organization has the facade of a legitimate noble house, but its an open secret. Assigns 2 of his subordinates as a "butler" and "maid" to train her with various methods, including giving her candy poisoned with deadly neurotoxin as rewards for good behavior (true intention to push her poison resistance to incredible lengths).

Meanwhile Oknodie looks at the world with her game knowledge lens. Which combined with her optimism leads her to completely misunderstand her own circumstance, and interpret things entirely differently.

Which allows the author to double dip on both the misunderstanding humor, as well as pity. It makes her own shenanigans funny since we know they are game related. Meanwhile it becomes humorous how characters assume things about her due to her outward setting.

Using the poison candy as an example. The author will make humor from:

  • Oknodie enjoying the "treat" as a actual treat. Enjoying the deadly toxins flavor as a exciting tang.
  • Her handlers being surprised at how compliant and talented she is at handling such toxins without issue.
  • Humor from her innocently trying to share her "candy" with others.
  • Humor from people who understand it is poisoned trying to stop her from sharing.
  • Humor from people invented exceedingly tragic backstories for what Oknodie must have gone through, especially given Oknodies other bizarre behaviors.
  • Humor from background antics that result from pitying Oknodie and her perceived backstory, and the actions they end up taking because of it.
  • Humor from people who fear her and/or her organization and viewed the whole situation as a threat.
  • Humor when you remember how close to home and far off both Oknodie and the other side assumes about the situation.
  • Humor when you realize most people's names are puns and making fun of the kind of character they are.
  • Humor at how absurd the whole situation is, when there is so much layers to a seemingly ordinary wholesome scene of a kid trying to share her candy. (when you realize everyone including you forgot Oknodie is a adult man inside)
This is primarily a character driven story. Plot is slow moving or not very important at this stage (like most slice of life). But the character work is stellar. Not in that each character is super duper developed and realistic. But rather each character is used well to do the jobs they are meant to have in the story, creating a rich dynamic tapestry.

It reminds me a litte bit of stories like One Piece in how it uses characters.

I read a ton of series and I understand the instinctive groan people have at yet another academy arc.

But honestly that is where this series shines. This academy is honestly a delight and extremely entertaining, adding much to the characters and their interactions. It is founded and run by a dragon who after destroying countries for fun, decided it is more entertaining to troll humans instead. It's like the stories your grandpa told you about how wimpy people are today, because back in his day he had to walk 10 miles through harsh weather conditions, uphill both ways, fighting off hordes of bears with nothing but a #2 pencil he had to sharpen with his teeth...... only its actually true.

Ultimately I think Karimtls review is good at conveying this series.

The.5 star deduction is the fact that sometimes readability can be a issue every now and then, making you have to pay more attention to details to follow what is going on. However it is unclear if it is tl, editing/proofreading related, original author, or a bit of both. <<less

It's a good read, and while the characters seem a little too soft-hearted, which seems unrealistic (?) I don't think it's horrible. Anyway, I'm still at C28, so things may or may not improve.

Regarding the translation, I think they should add who's pov it is to know who's currently speaking, I'll be helpful, specifically to me lol.

The MC is Lovable, however how she views/refers to other people as npc doesn't seem sit quite well with me, but I guess it's understandable (?) after all, stat rock exists lol.

So anyways, it... more>> good for a light read, not too much drama, humorous, and all in all properly translated. <<less

I find the story to be very interesting. But the main plotline of the story is yet to come so I cant judge yet, however the story is very wholesome and cute for the most part.

The translation makes it a bit hard to read but if you can understand what the writer is trying to say then it becomes a very interesting read.

All in all 5/5 (totally not biased)

The strength of this novel is in the world building. Unlike many other academy novels where school is an afterthought, and just an easy way to force characters together before they spend the rest of the time dungeon crawling. This novel reads more like Harry Potter, where they're in school/class the majority of the time and school life actually matters. Which is actually a surprisingly rare and refreshing take in KR academy novels.

My biggest gripe about this novel is that the writing for the MC is very strange. So she's... more>> supposed to be a drinking age adult man before possessing the character. But for some reason her thoughts and actions are very naive and immature. Anytime she's not being an ultra efficient gamer, she tends to just act and think like a 11 year old girl. You'd think there'll be more resistance and reluctance going from a 20+ y/o man to an 11 y/o girl.

I also have to point out that the translation is a bit jank (through no fault of the novel). It's perfectly understandable 90% of the time, and then all of a sudden there'll be a paragraph that doesn't read properly. And sometimes even contradicts previous information. Like Andersen Pretzel the student crying about hard classes is suddenly called Professor Andersen later in the chapter. <<less

The story is pretty good. My only complaint is that the writing is a bit hard to read. Some novels like to repeat themselves too often, however, this novel does it too little. The author writes that the MC is going to one thing, does it a chapter or two later, without any reminder. And if you weren't really paying attention (like I wasn't) it's very easy to get confused about what's going on.

This novel is something light and fun to read. If you have nothing else to read then definitely pick this up. Nothing really heavy in writing, it is just the adventures of a veteran player. The worldbuilding is cool nothing much to say. Though I want to see more development of the outside world besides

the foundation and academy.

[collapse]

The power system isn't concretely talked about but after ~200 chapters or so you will gain a basic understanding of how it works.
Spoiler

Skills seem to be a thing in the world but not very game like skills, they are more so skills you gain from experience and training.

Overall, give it a try.

To be honest, I wasn't expecting much when I first started reading this. I thought it would be your typical 'misunderstanding' trope novel that requires a constant suspension of disbelief. While the misunderstanding trope blatantly exists in this novel, most of the time the leaps in logic aren't so outrageous that it's difficult to accept.

The story primarily revolves around the MCs time in an academy that sorta resembles a wackier and more brutal Hogwarts. The world itself is from a game world the MC has played and the MC makes... more>> good use of their foreknowledge of the world and the game. Most of the misunderstandings stem from the MCs 'player' behavior that seems bizarre to the natives of the world. As for the MC, at times she may seem s*upid or oblivious due to the fact she can't recognize her situation or the things happening around her. For example, the fact there's something wrong with her adoptive father and the fact that some of the food she's being given is poisoned. However, I don't think the MC is ignorant of her surroundings. I think the MC noticed these things relatively early but has simply gone all-in on gaining power and influence in the academy. She either rises to the top and is untouchable by anyone or she crashes and burns. All in all, it's a lot better than I thought it would be.

My only complaint about this novel would be that many of the characters seem way too kind and quick to trust. The world described by the author is a dark fantasy world, bordering on grimdark. In the 'novice village' alone there were s*avers, cannibals, mages who experiment on children, and several criminal organizations. Moreover it seems to be an open secret that many of the orphans of this world are kidnapped, experimented on, and ab*sed by basically all levels of this world's society. It's so exaggerated that it's a bit weird, to be honest. Does the society of this world hate orphans so much that it goes out of its way to make things harder for them? Anyways, yeah, the world described is dark, but the people the MC meets are friendly, kind, and sometimes go out of their way to support the MC. One of the characters that the MC had just met a few days earlier even goes as far as dropping everything and following the MC to the academy because he felt sorry for her. Yeah, there's a real sense of disharmony between the world described and the character of the people living in it. <<less
