In stories where superheroes fight and destroy their surroundings all the time, have you ever wonder who covers the repair fees and how? Well, this story is about the guy who does his best trying to find the money to do just that...

The MC is a transmigrator reincarnated into an indie game world as a person who never appeared in the story (at least, not the first part, the only one he played) and he apparently has no particular talent. He is a very ordinary man who, somehow, ended up... more>> as the Finance Director of the (soon-to-be bankrupt) academy where the first part of the game takes place.

He is not a genius, not specialized in economy either, as a matter of fact, he is more street-smart than anything, and most of the "solutions" and methods he comes up with are a bit gangster-like (he is not wicked, though, and actually quite honest), and not that brilliant. And, obviously, his game knowledge is mostly useless since he has no clue about the story development past the first part. Also, even when he gets a 'power-up' it's mostly useless since, as a level 1, he can't even use those powers... ^^'

Spoiler

It's very funny how fusing with a god-level artifact ends up with him just being able to produce salt (which he happily uses to make money).

[collapse]

The story is mostly about his daily struggles trying to save this academy filled with walking disasters, putting out one fire after another, while looking for new ways to earn money and cut expenses, surrounded by crazy superhumans.

It's not about how a brilliant man amazes everyone with never-before-seen grand plans or otherworldly knowledge, but how an ordinary (but smart) man finds small (shady) solutions to save the academy's finances while keeping its ideal (and the ideals of the headmistress) intact.

The MC and headmistress duo is really likeable. While the financial situation ended up like this because of her, she's not a useless person who only brings trouble or don't put in any efforts. She really cares about him, and he really respects her and tries to change her managerial style while preventing her from changing too much.

Spoiler

Also, his relationship development with a few other characters is interesting. Because a few characters are regressors (and others are starting to remember the "future"), things are progressing unexpectingly...

[collapse]

There is a lot of mystery in this story and it's both fun and touching. I like it a lot. <<less

This novel is good. Like others have mentioned, the translation is exceptional and flows naturally.

The story is also much deeper than its premise might tell you. While the tags like reincarnation, regression, and harem might throw you off, they are all well written and don’t play into super annoying tropes.

The romance is light and slow burn, and while I would prefer a slightly faster development, it’s not bad.

Additionally, the harem part isn’t really a big thing at this point in the story, and focus is instead on character development and... more>> world building.

It’s definitely not the most hilarious thing I have ever read, but it’s subtle jokes do make it a fun read.

Im writing this because I (selfishly) want to read more, and want it to continue being translated. It’s a good book, and I recommend you give it a shot. <<less

I don't know if it's only me, but this novel is quite similar to The Greatest Estate Developer. The protagonist has some similarities with Lloyd, for example : obssessed with money, profit-driven, scamming people, bullying villains into poverty, wordplays for even more scam, blackmailing, coercion, bribery, and much more. It's funny asf.

Anyways, it's been a while since I've enjoyed a novel this packed with political and economic themes. The translation is smooth, the dialogues are translated incredibly well, making each character's unique motives and backstories come alive. Everyone has a... more>> clear purpose, distinct personality, and something driving them; it's rare to see a cast this well-developed. The worldbuilding is also rock solid, with political dynamics explained in a way that's clear enough for readers who aren't hardcore into politics to still understand what's happening.

The protagonist is surprisingly likeable. He's shameless and thick-skinned, sure, but he's also humble. His actions aren't just selfish; he isn't tied down to some "game plot" and makes his own choices, acting pragmatically and carefully. I appreciate how mature and competent he is, he's a true hard worker, and even though he's weak in power, his impact on the story is huge. It's refreshing to have an MC who genuinely supports the heroine, helping her achieve her ideals without compromising his own values. Adam might be pulling off some backhanded tricks for money, but he's careful to keep the Headmistress as the same Headmistress he's always known. Their dynamic is great; they balance each other out. He's rank 1, she's rank 8; she's all about theory, while he's focused on practical application.

Also, gotta say, he looks like a total badass, like some powerful villain, but is actually weak asf. Love the irony there.

I'm not usually into romance, but the slow-burn relationship and the dynamic between the Headmistress and the MC is really sweet. Headmistress is best girl, hands down. Plus, the worldbuilding is explained naturally through dialogue, which keeps things grounded, no "worldbuilding vertigo, " just a steady stream of context as you go along.

That said, after reading more, I do have a few complaints. It's a bit annoying how the story is slowly turning into a harem. It's typical for an academy novel on Novelpia, but I was really hoping this one would stay away from the harem curse. Can't the novelpia authors just make it a pure-love novel for once?

Anyways, this story is pretty solid, it's quite a slowburn at the start, but still pretty entertaining. 9.5/10

Also, don't check this out, I've only listed the major events/characters here so I won't forget them the next time I continue reading this :

Spoiler

•Grandis Academy - Bankrupt (ongoing)

•Adam Keynes - Weak, White Hair, Red Eyes, Finance Director, Shameless, Literally the only pillar supporting the Academy, Diligent, Hard-Worker, Loyal, Prudent, Pragmatic, Cunning, Master Exploiter, "Final Boss"

•Head Mistress - Eternal Youth, Black Hair, A bit Naive, Rank 8 Martial Artist, Incredibly Powerful, War Hero, 100+ years

•Ruth Spero - Female, White Hair, Crossdress as a boy, Original MC, Regressor, Rank 6, Dark Sword, Corrupted, Suffering from "Regression Syndrome"

•Amatriuss Delphia Beatrice - 4th Princess, Talented Mage, Terminal Illness

•Chloe Piste- Archmage's Disciple, Mage, Inferiority Complex, Fiery Red Hair, Alternate Future Self, Pseudo-Regressor (after direct contact with Dark Sword)

•Cassandra - Student Council President, Phony Prophet, Cosplayer, Junior, Rank 6 Illusionist, Talented

•Mina Glichen - "Cult Leader", Finance Department Member (s*ave) , Mage, Spy, Regressor #2 (after direct contact with Dark Sword)

•Lisha Claudia - Rank 4 Swordsman, "Bribe"

•Circe - Female, Traitor?, OG MC Archenemy, Always getting Bullied, Poverty, Social Death, "Equipment/s*ave", Balding, Healing Potion, Hair Loss cure

•Kaern Destre - Youngest Knight, Straightforward, Muscle Headed

•Akendelminos - King

•Rock Salt Mine - Chekhov's gun. Bro this place literally changed the entire future, I thought it was insignificant at the beginning, let's list it :

1. Changed the academy's financial situation, making MC and Headmistress more alert

2. Prevented Circe's plans

3. Significantly weakened the Wish Cult

4. Destroyed the sacred artifact (indirectly)

5. Made Ruth richer

[collapse]

PS. I also really like how the author managed the "regressors" plot, they're literally increasing.

The start is a bit of a slowburn, but after chapter 20 it started becoming fun, seriously, not a masterpiece per se, but incredibly entertaining. Highly Recommended. <<less

The other review does a good job of summarising the initial plot so I won’t go over it.

What I do want to talk about is the writing though. It’s so engaging and flows so easily that it being a translation and not the original text is hard to imagine. Sure, there are some grammatical errors here and there - but the story and the way the dialogue flows feels so natural that it really just sucks you in.

I’m surprised comedy isn’t a tag as well as the constant callbacks and... more>> gags build on each other amazingly.

The main flaw for me though is that other than our MC the main cast is basically all women. Though these stories tend to be like this, it definitely feels a bit shoe horned in and breaks the immersion if your brain starts braining (I know it says that it’s a harem, but come on?!).

Overall though, it’s a very comforting read which I would recommend! <<less

Not entirely bad except for the romance.

It's disappointing when series like this have the heroines scheme and conspire against each other instead of actually giving their best to train themselves and prove their standings through proper events and long chapters.

Spoiler

Chloe an example of this. The author could just give her an entire arc for herself and have the climax be the event to justify her love. But instead she just used some tricks and stole the romance event from the Headmistress, throwing away all that stuff about being a genius at magic or the disciple of theArchmage.

[collapse]

The MC also seems strict at first but then he gradually allows the girls to stick to him for reasons I feel that are forced. Not all of them, some had many chapters to justify their clinginess, some just don't, and it's frustrating to see them doing nothing yet getting what others got after doing their best.

Tldr: Heroines catfights and play tricks instead of showing their best when it comes to romance. <<less

Most of what was said positive before is quite compatible with my opinion so I won't add it here. But instead of just the focus of interaction I would like more descriptions maybe I am blind but so far I don't have a clue as to how the headmistress, Laura or the original MC looks like I just have a simple word of this person when they were first introduced and is like this once and never mentioned it again. So I would hope that author used more descriptions, its... more>> harsh, even for me to want to drop it right now.

Update: I get it now! This is a panel description for a manwha quite literally too. The reason why the author is jumping on details (I think I saw him crossing over the moon yesterday) is because they failed to convince someone to pick it up as a manwha or their are obliged to write a novel to convince those that are on the fence. Regardless I would recommend giving this a break and coming back when an actual manwha is released. The interactions are indeed good but a half manwha is still not that worth it when the art isn't there. <<less
