My favourite Korean gender bender - because it has non-yuri romance, really interesting plot and a level up system too. Yep, ticks all the right boxes, I highly recommend!

Btw, MC having a preference of virg*ns isn't something to crucify him (->her) about (So SirHarbinger up/down there is being way too sensitive). Lilith is actually a really nice person who puts others before herself, always weighing her actions in case it will unintentionally harm others. So calling out to a girl for not being virg*n is the last thing she would... more>> do.

Also, new and improved Ethan + Lilith is for a lack of better words, kinda cute to watch.

Last note, don't pay attention to SirHarbringer's review, they only read 1 chapter before giving such a low score, hell, does it even give other useful intel about the novel itself?! Speechless... I've never been this mad at seeing a review before <<less

I see a lot of reviews commenting about the obsession with v*rginity. It's all true. However, I want to correct some terms.

It's not incel behavior. MC doesn't hate women, or wallow in self-pity while he stalks and harasses them, or thinks he's not getting s*x because of a more successful male getting the girl. He's perfectly level-headed, understands right and wrong, and isn't delusional by treating his current situation like a game.

Again, MC isn't an involuntary celibate person, though he's considering to be voluntarily celibate as a result... more>> from turning to a female.

To be exact, MC is an Otaku (obsession of something), and in his case, obsessed with his pursued heroines' v*rginity. He spends more than 500 hours in the game to try and find a maiden route for the titular maid, Lilith. MC even describes himself as a unicorn, and if you know the lore you would know unicorns only like virg*ns, so he's highly self-aware. Plot shows that he was willing to go as far as killing the in-game boyfriends/male love interests to get a virg*n girl. Even when he transmigrated to be Lilith, the idea of him being a virg*n is more important than him being alive, especially when he has to get defiled by a sadistic fat slob, Ethan.

However, while he is highly influenced at the idea of losing his v*rginity, he ultimately didn't cross the line of killing Ethan when it comes down to the moment of truth. He understands real life =/= game world. At worst, I'll call his tastes vile for having such a fetish, but he's actually a pretty normal human being shown in the 70+ chapters and honestly virg*n heroines are actually a thing in adult games. An example of worse fetishes out there in adult games, like brown stuff coming out from behind you-know-where... Ahem, I digress.

Because there's so many flawed people everywhere in the game world, scheming female bit*h side characters, a loutish-turned-lovestruck male lead, snobby aristocrats, overly protective dad, etc, the story is interesting as the MC navigates through them the best he can. He perceives his situations reasonably well and makes pretty good guesses, and even bends others to his will by using logical arguments.

One of the more intriguing aspect to me is how the Korean original webpage has "Pure love" and "Romance" as the tags. It raises my expectations that MC as an obsessed Otaku with v*rginity, will somehow offers (laugh) his maidenhood. If that actually happens it's going to be a gender bender I've never seen before.

4.5 stars. <<less

I've read up to the latest chapter and I've got to say, if you manage to get past the 1st 4-5 chapters then the novel will naturally get better and better.

The protagonist, Lilith Rosewood, sold herself to relieve her father's debt and became a maid of the Blackwood Ducal house. She was born a female but one day she suddenly regained the memory of a Korean man. Coincidentally the man is someone who spent over 500+ hours on an adult game and through that, she now knows what horrible future... more>> she will have to face if she keeps her current lifestyle.

The first few chapters will be really uncomfortable to read, I know that the transmigrated guy is a loser who basically spent his entire time trying to make it so that Lilith stays a virg*n and his obsession with virg*n girls is honestly unhealthy and a little bit creepy. He hates Lilith because he spent a large amount of time trying to keep her from giving away her V-card yet his efforts still have no results, he also hates Ethan Blackwood for always taking away Lilith's V-card. The first few chapters of the novel will provide you with some light curses and complaints from the protagonist, and after examining that Lilith still has her v*rginity he finally calms down and proceeds with his maid work.

I think it's rational to display some erratic behaviour and voicing irrational complaints in this situation. Other novels will naturally deal with the shock using "a unique mental skill that makes them calm all the time" or "just time-skip to the day when the protagonist mentally settles with the fact that they just got into another world", this novel takes a different take on this by unhesitantly showing the bad, incel-like side of the protagonist and showing the audience their bad sides knowing it'll leave a bad impression. In my opinion, this just shows the protagonist's human-like side to them. When suddenly faced with an unprecedented situation, humans will naturally reveal some aspects of themselves that may look unfavourable to others. Although I have to admit, the protagonist does have a weird ass way of adapting with the situation.

After some time, the protagonist (although reluctantly) will adapt to Lilith's body and she begins to earnestly (?) work as a maid. And Lilith will have to face the bullying of senior maids and the way she eventually tamed the young master, Ethan, to become at least a respectable human being is honestly really funny and fulfilling.

Spoiler

Lilith just dead-ass dealt with the maid bullying with violence and the delivery is the most comedic way a human can describe a dogfight. Lilith didn't find a way to solve this peacefully, she woke up one day and chose violence. She basically did the same with Ethan, she literally put him in a chokehold and then verbally ab*sed him. I noticed that a reviewer said that she choked Ethan despite him only playing minor pranks on her and to that I say: Ethan is a 13 y.o trapped in a 19 y.o's body and also the original game is an adult game, Lilith not only knows that in the future Ethan will ab*se Lilith with whips, chains and BD*M toys and committed the most heinous crimes of all - Stealing her v*rginity. In the 1st 3 months of working as Ethan's exclusive maid, the bullying starts with small pranks and incessant calls for attention from Ethan and it escalates to full-blown s*xual harassment. Imagine your superior constantly gives you extra work and overtime and on top of that your superiors will also cause a hassle to disrupt you from doing the work they gave you, for 3 full months, it sounds short but for medieval maids, especially the ones with debt don't get a vacation nor a weekend, so Lilith has spent a total of 84 days dealing with Ethan's antics. I imagine anyone would want to file a complaint and choke their superiors if they did stuff like that.

[collapse]

The method of choking your superiors and hurling insults at them proves to be useful as Ethan genuinely tries to improve himself after Lilith did that and around chapter 40 or so we see some character development for Ethan. The way Lilith tries her best to increase her stats and level up is also a point I like. She shows her ability to use the situation to her advantage and creatively use the tools and game mechanics given to her to defeat monsters, level up and raise stats.

Spoiler

e.x 1: She was trolled by the maids to basically do all their work. She used that to have some private time to practice magic here and increase her MP stats. She used the maid's bullying and ignorance as a cover for her magic practice

e.x 2: During an outing, a monster shows up due to a scroll usage mishap. She used the excuse of luring the monster away using herself as bait to solo the monster and monopolise the exp.

e.x 3: She was summoned by the chief of defence and after touring the training ground with Ethan, she manipulated the situation using various excuses to train with the soldiers and level up.

[collapse]

It's a 5/5 for me, I'm a sucker for character psychology so I might have accidentally dived too deep into the matter but honestly Lilith (and also Ethan) is a fun character to analyse their behaviour and how and why they do stuff. The pacing of the story also feels just right, they don't rush for anything and have a deep understanding of the characters and their drives. <<less

5 ⭐ Very enjoyable, with some minor issues that can be ignored.

There's an irresistible charm in gender bending psychology. It's rare to find a good gender bender novel that's not yuri and even emotionally realistic one at that. I really enjoy it on this one. One of the best Korean gender bender novel in recent time.

Really, recommend even if you're not into gender bender.

Though if you hate anon rant, I recommend skipping chapter 1.

(not spoiler, I only put it for clean look)

Critique

Spoiler

Chapter 1 and 2 might be unbearable to some because the protagonist is like those anon who rage rant when their waifu betrayed their expectations (like that infamous hololive one). But trust me, it's worth the buildup because the protagonist's monologue and dialogue on how she comes to terms with her situation are quite amusing and realistic.

The pacing felt just right. There's always tension and anticipation in the story. The character felt real, having their own background and thoughts. World building is slowly revealed, not info dump. The plot is great, it felt creative and dynamic.

My only critique is that the writing wasn't fluid, the structure and rhythm could be improved. (TL is decent, but this is more like the original problem)

SUMMARY

Spoiler

Lee Ji-hwan a 26yo college student, awakens his memories in the body of a debt maid named Lilith. Lilith is Lee Ji-hwan most hated character from his fav adult game because Lilith is a pushover who easily caves in to the fat pig Ethan's s*xual ab*se, thus leaving no way for player to keep her purity. Fortunately, Lilith hasn't been "trained" by Ethan yet. But she's a mere debt maid, how can she resist the noble authority? What means can she use to escape Ethan's c*otch?

My novel updates rating scale:

Spoiler

5 ⭐ Very enjoyable, with some minor issues that can be ignored.

4 ⭐ Enjoyable, with some issues that can't be ignored but won't ruin the enjoyment.

3 ⭐ Mildly enjoyable, with some major issues that may ruin the enjoyment

2 ⭐ Slightly enjoyable, with many major issues that will definitely ruin the enjoyment.

1 ⭐ Not enjoyable, don't read this novel. Not worth your time. Not recommend

Haven't read enough to make a proper judgement, but just want to offset SirHarbringer's review.

Chapter 1 is the only part, so far, where the MC is acting like an incel. There was a whole rant about how MC spent hundreds of hours trying to find the game route for virg*n maid, who he reincarnated as, but couldn't. Terrible way to start the story but everything after that was pretty average, maybe a bit higher than average.

Please give this novel a try, this not your s*upid R18 p*rn novel that every 1 - 10 chapter is p*rn.

No no no, don't let that R18 tag fool you, its true romance about

1. Male lead from fat childish prince grow up to become real man because he want to be loved by the maid.

... more>> 2. The maid female lead, also try to overcome her gender bend status to be realise must accept she is now female & love each other.

3. Maid story that take care prince and make him grow up from childish to be a man. I like the duo dinamic a lot, they grow together slowly progres, you cannot judge this novel by 30 chapters above.

so keep reading you need to by pass childish mentally prince story arc to be good..

I wish there is the prince POV in this novel, because I like him a lot grown up to be equally a protagonis of his own story but sadly there is no POV for him or even side story. <<less

Holy moly does this one have a bad beginning. In the first three chapters, MC is constantly talking about Lilliths lack of v*rginity, how difficult it is to romance her when she's still a virg*n, and "reaches down" and checks to see if she's still one when he possesses her. My eyes bugged out, and I decided to keep reading to see if it would get any worse. I'm glad I did, because it suddenly became very good and now I'm looking forward to updates. All that stuff hasn't come... more>> up again at all, and it's become this unreliable narrator story of MC trying to pretend she's a more selfish person than she actually is, formimg bonds with the people around her and dealing with sexual/power harassment in realistic, then satisfying ways. Keeping in mind the subtext of self-delusion/justification in efforts of holding on to any scraps of masculine identity when suddenly stuck in an outrageously feminine body makes this a more interesting read, and recontextualizes somethings regarding her actions - including her relative quickness to violence. As you read- assuming you make it past the horrible first 3 chapters- I'd recommend looking at the scenarios first as her inner monologuing and personal reasons for taking or not taking actions might be, and then a more objective view of what anyone might think is happening from an outsiders perspective.

I could of course be over analyzing, but nothing's really contradicted me so far and I am enjoying the story more reading it this way! <<less

I have no idea how to feel, on one hand its good, but the MC is weirdly incel like, like the only moment is that hes frustrated his s*x game had a non virg*n character it'd be one thing, still bad but tolerable. But this guy reincarnated as that heroine and checked him/herself for the v*rginity like wtf, then kept grudges for the guy who took it, like BRO THIS IS REAL NOW and those events were in a game.

And of course once it starts actually getting good you... more>> reach the end of the translation.

Had to drop this because the writing style is infuriating. The premise is good, the setting is good, but the way chapters are basically the same paragraph rewritten over and over with maybe 2 lines of dialogue each makes it feel insanely dragged out.

And that's not even what made me drop it, no, what made me drop it was how insanely forced the misunderstandings are in order to move the plot towards the adult rating. I'm completely fine with adult romance gender bender, but the way it is forced through... more>> misunderstandings here is hair pullingly frustrating.

If it wasn't for the misunderstandings I'd kept going and rated it 4/5, if the writing style wasn't so obnoxiously dragged out I'd have increased it even more. But as it stands, I almost feel like 3/5 is too much, but the shell of a good novel is there. <<less

tl;dr

Dropped. Solid 4-5 for Gender Bender genre enjoyers for a good 100ch but slowly worsens later.

... more>> Dropped around ch165. Decent read for a good while and captivating premise, but falls flat on its face trying to establish the primary romance, somehow accomplishing to neglect the romance and the actual plot simultaneously.

Annoyingly, the further the romance 'progresses' the less influence the MC has on anything, switching narrative roles with the male lead as he becomes the de-facto protag.

Lastly, the "weak to strong" tag is misplaced. The protagonist remains the weakest named character and arguably gets weaker in comparison over time as all the other important characters vastly outscale her to the point you start questioning how she even was a named character in the first place, considering the character we see is supposed to be a powered-up version.

Spoiler territory:

Spoiler

This is partly because the protag is building a support character as a combat allrounder. The other part is the author being unable to stay consistent with previously established power levels.

For the record I would've liked a fully support build even less, instead if you're gonna make the ML OP as f*ck for no reason might just do the same for the protag. Or write from the ML's perspective if the protag's gonna end up a side character halfway through.

Two stars because others may find it more enjoyable. <<less

Overall it's a pretty decent, albeit not very original, reincarnated into a game genre of novel. Nothing is egregiously wrong with the characters or setting of the novel, but there are a few aspects about the writing and the story that get in the way of enjoying the novel for me.

As other people have stated, the opening chapters can be very hit or miss. Personally, I was fine with them because at least the main character seemed rightfully panicked at the prospect of being reincarnated and acted accordingly.

However, the... more>> plot is awkwardly paced, with some chapters being dense and others basically being 8 paragraphs of internal monologue. Additionally, at some point in the novel, the misunderstanding humor and miscommunication between characters drives more and more of the plot, which is a personal annoyance I have in novels. Also, it seems that the other just used time skips freely when they want to move the plot ahead, so you'll get chapters where it basically says, "I did my normal routine for about a year".

Overall, the novel is fine, but there just isn't much interesting going on with it, and the writing itself is not really good enough to justify all the tropes the novel dishes out. <<less

This novel got me quite hooked I even considered buying novelpia plus to read the raw, start out as your typical isekai that you possessed in game character and using knowledge to get stronger but there's clear limit since his (her) character is a support type so for the MC she's not too op for now, and she trying to change Ethan for a better person and how their romance develop is really interesting but what is minus point for me is how dramatic MC is and overreact everything because... more>> he based everything from the game
Spoiler

MC trying to kill Ethan over a prank despite knowing he's just 13 mentally instead of just reprimanded him and ask why he doing it, does Kakashi thousand year of death on girl is sure a punchable action but first of all you're man inside and while he deserves beating it's too dramatic to kill someone over this unless you're a mafioso type of sh*t but he not not to mention that's just a kid in mentally

This is actually good after reading for a while.

The worst point of this Novel is that starting point is quite extreme. The Reason MC doesn't like Lilith whom he possessed is actually because MC like her too much but the game he play was a shitty game that it is practically impossible to make in game Lilith still "pure" before she join the party. And MC spend 500 hrs in game tried to find a ways to bypass that but fail. Changing his love to hate.

After it come to game... more>> world part, it is a very good Stubborn Maid VS Shitty Master. With Lilith's personality change from the game, She gradually change Ethan from a shitty brat to a better person.

But it is not a smooth road. Only after put to the extreme that she has succeed in making Ethan change for better.

Spoiler

She almost mu*der him for pulling too many prank on her but stop before actually done the deed. And after speak her heart without any restraining (AKA, don't care if getting execute for harming a Noble anymore) that Ethan gradually realize that what he is doing was wrong.

A pretty good TS gender bender with a pretty lovable master and maid duo. The plot feels fast, but when you track how far into the game storyline they're in (as of ch 151), its surprisingly slow.

The action is pretty well done and the side characters are all pretty interesting for the most part. For some reason it still feels like the story hasn't truly kicked off yet, so I'd refrain from any conclusive judgements. Its a pretty fun read, and the updates are very frequent and of good quality.... more>> I'd recommend for a chapter by chapter read or a binge.

Now, about the whole "virg*n" debate everyone else gave their two cents on, I'd say I'm on the harsher side. Luckily it didn't last long (don't know if the author got negative feedback about it or not), so it wasn't unbearable, but while it was a thing, it pissed me off to say the least.

The problem wasn't his "preference". As long as your preference ain't kids or animals, I really couldn't care less. My problem was how he talked about and described the character "Lilith" in regards to his preference. Short tldr; the character Lilith is a capture target in an eroge game who worked under Ethan the "lout prince". Being an indentured maid under his command, she was forced into all kinds of s*xual acts, demeaned and quite literally r*ped by the game's version of Ethan and his possible lackeys. Now what does the MC have to say about Lilith as a character? Well, he calls her a s*ut....... Disgusting does not even begin to describe the way he referred to a victim of s*xual assault in the earlier chapters and this all due to the fact that she wasn't a "virg*n" and hence could not get his stick wet to any scenes after saving her. I get his frustration, since he devoted an ungodly amount of time to "saving" Lilith and again his preference is his preference. But making the victim your target of anger is vile, especially when the preparator (Ethan) and the devs of the game (who indulged in quite literal torture p*rn) are right there to critic. Personally it was unacceptable and really rubbed me the wrong way.

But luckily as I said before this doesn't last long and after he was put in her shoes, he notices that the subject of his anger, shouldn't be the commoner maid who had no say, but the s*um of a prince who ab*sed his power to do whatever he wanted (the fact that it took all that is astonishing to say the least). <<less

I seriously can't handle MC being so dense that she doesn't even realize her own feelings even after 200 chapters. When she does started to realize it she just being tsundere and denying it.

Because the MC is so dense, she keeps misunderstanding everything and sticks to her wrong assumptions. I even feel sorry for ethan because ethan being so obvious about his feeling for her.

I tried reading up to chapter 200, and it does get a little better, but it still feels half-hearted. Usually, the 'slow romance' tag means there’s... more>> a lot happening in the story, so the protagonist doesn’t have much time to think about romance. But in this novel, there’s not much going on in the plot, and there’s also very little development in the romance, to the point where I started thinking it’s kind of like a slice-of-life story—and yet it's not.

Even after 200 chapters, I still don’t know where the MC is heading with her power development. She’s supposed to be a strong support character because she’s destined to become a saint, yet she’s going for a mage build. And even that feels terrible, because her awful luck stat prevents her magic from hitting its target. To compensate, she’s also learning close combat with a dagger, which makes her an all-rounder—but it’s frustrating that even after 200 chapters, she still doesn’t have a specialty. If the author wants to keep her as an all-rounder, then at least make her a proper jack-of-all-trades, master of none. <<less
