…But why is the male lead coming straight for me instead of the female lead?”

I've read for a bit and it's pretty good. MC isn't that silly despite acting without thinking at times which, honestly, when it comes to stereotypical bo'om scenerios is already pretty good. The ML seems for now, reasonable, and I like the female characters a lot. Thy're not just cannon fodders but actually have a dimensionality to them (?)

I have one 'but' tho...

I got really disappointed in the MC and got seriously frustrated, I am usually very accepting and It's, I guess, technically, not a big deal but...

there is a character who is suggested to SA female students, and when a cannonically SA-ed by him (according to the in-novel plot) sister to the MC asks about him, the MC is like 'I can't talk behind his back since he has a good reputation, so I won't tell her' despite just the previous day, seeing this guy acting sus around a drunk female colleague. Like. My Dude. Please. Just tell her that u saw him being sus and leave it at that. What kind of logic is that? And between siblings no less? (I think?). This kinda sh*t is a serious trigger for me. Like damn, I'm fine with abusive MLs and such, I mean this genre basically lives on them. But I hate that kind of wishy-washy behaviour when it comes to serious matters. Especially when it comes to utterly dumb consequences.

I just have so much rage in me for this. If a person is sus, u tell siblings they give off a bad vibe, so at least they'll have it mind. So if push comes to shove they'll be at least a bit sceptical. That can literally change somebody's future. Like safety concerns. Damn.

Just a pet-peeve of mine but still. <<less

For all the right reasons, this novel is a legitimate "makjang" drama. It lives up to the plot tropes of chaebols, adultery and birth secrets. If you make a venn diagram of the characters' relationships, it would look like the Olympics logo. The family trees are wreaths. Someone's long lost sibling is another's long lost sibling. It's dramatic enough to be messy, and ridiculous enough to be comedic. Add the transmigration ABO BL tropes and you get... a freaking festival. I liked it.

I'm a bit so-so on the main characters.... more>> Not only do they not talk, they are also prone to foolish decisions. I'll say this now to lower expectations, but the MC is the poster child of irresponsibility and indecisiveness. It was surprising that he had no clear plans at all. He missed all the privileges of a transmigrator. Frankly, it was disappointing that he was basically carried away by the flow. If I were to be more critical, he was more of a novel character than the actual novel characters. The ML was ok. He was just doing ML things.

In any case, the main couple drama was all within the usual range of BL misunderstandings and miscommunications, so no surprise in that. They do improve in the later part of the novel, so you'd just have to bear with them acting like kids for a while.

Spoiler

By "a while", I meant for about 3/4ths of the novel. They start acting like adults after they did adult things.

This novel focused more on BL Makjang, so the ABO aspect took a back seat. I personally didn't mind, since I was there for the chaotic drama. But if you're curious about the ABO...

Spoiler

ML is an alpha. Traits aren't a widely known thing in the world MC transmigrated to, but it's there. The main couple's kids were only shown in the MC's dream during the main story, but their first child was born in the side chapters.

Anyway. I really did think this was strangely entertaining. Makjang is charming as long as you don't take it seriously. (^ ^) <<less

I liked the novel at first, but as I got further into it, I started getting really annoyed with the MC. Like, dude, why are you so obsessed with sticking to the storyline when it's clear things are changing? He's over 30, acknowledges it in the novel, yet somehow can't figure out that the FL's attention is on him now and the ML is interested in him. And how can he be so clueless? He's living in a makjang novel, surrounded by crazy plots—how is he not predicting why the ML is starting to fall for him?

It's seriously frustrating that the MC acts all surprised when his actions lead the ML on. The ML was ab*sed and ignored by his family, and the MC knows this. Yet, in the ML's most vulnerable moment, the MC shows up and offers comfort, taking the FL's place for a day. As someone who's watched this drama unfold, shouldn't the MC have known what would happen? Come on, consequences, man!

I also can't stand the MC's sister. Like, he's setting up curfews and trying to protect her, but she just won't listen. It's so irritating to see her ignore his warnings. And honestly, I'm with the commenter who said the MC's a dumbass for relying on that one slimy character rep. This guy almost SA'd a young woman that you whom previously saved from, and now he's after the little sister, and the MC isn't freaking out the alarms aren't ringing? Who cares about "reputation"? Listen to your instincts and protect your sister, dude! Who gives an actual f*ck about "reputation " there a reason follow your gut and instincts and having a bad feeling is a perfectly valid reason to speak UP!!

Look, I understand she's a young adult and got manipulated, but I got so caught up in everything that it's hard not to be frustrated. When your own parents are trying to transfer you away from college because they're worried about the rumors and your depressing mood, and you're still going back to university all for a man—it's just too much! She's really living up to the whole second female lead stereotype she had in the makjang novel drama, isn't she?

I swear, if this ends with her going after her brother—especially with their relationship already strained from the last incident—and she tries to sabotage him because she sees him as a rival for the ML, like she did with the FL previousuly, I'm going to be so mad. Her ungrateful attitude is beyond irritating. She's out here falling head over heels for the ML and was almost in serious trouble if it hadn't been for her "Oppa" (MC). This girl owes him, and honestly, she owes his previous incarnation a life debt of two at this point!

Now, Yeonsoo—if I'm remembering her name right—is a character I genuinely like. She's awesome, sweet, and kind, but it sucks that she fell for the MC when it's obvious who the endgame is. I wish the author had focused on building a strong friendship between her and the MC instead of making her compete with the ML. It's a missed opportunity for something really meaningful.

Even though I'm ranting, I still found the novel pretty entertaining. The writing is solid, and I kept reading despite my frustrations. I liked the MC at first because he seemed cool, calm, and collected, but as the chapters piled up, his s*upid decisions started driving me crazy. I'm still holding out hope that the title will come into play in a big way because the synopsis was so intriguing. I thought his status would be revealed early on, but I guess that's something we're still waiting for.

For once, I'm actually rooting for the ML, and I feel like he's been wronged by how the MC treats him. Usually, MLs have so many red flags, but this one, while not perfect, at least respects boundaries and doesn't force himself on the MC, which I appreciate. And don't even get me started on the ML's father and brother—they're the worst. I can't wait for them to get what they deserve, especially after that ashtray incident. Just awful.

This is a review I wrote after deciding to stop reading this novel. To be honest, the story itself is quite interesting, and I would recommend it to readers who enjoy unpredictable plots with fluctuating moods. This novel truly represents the makjang genre, with intense conflicts and complex emotions. Although the storyline can feel a bit convoluted at times, this could be a unique appeal for some readers.

However, for me personally, this story didn't suit my taste as I tend to prefer plots that are less monotonous. Hehehehe :)... more>>

Here are the reasons why I decided to stop reading:

  • MC (Main Character)

From the beginning of the story, I felt a little disappointed with the MC. On one hand, they seemed very eager to meet the ML. However, when the meeting finally happened, the MC appeared unprepared and lacked a clear reason for the encounter. While this might be understandable at the start, the more I read, the more confused I became about what the MC truly wanted.
  • ML (Male Lead)

I also couldn’t quite grasp the ML’s thought process. There were moments where the ML came across as cool and intelligent, but at other times, they turned overly rigid and ended up making poor decisions. This inconsistency frustrated me quite a bit.

In the end, because the story’s development didn’t match my expectations, I decided to stop reading. Nevertheless, I believe this novel can still be enjoyed by readers who love emotionally intense conflicts. Hehehehe.
