In this troubled medieval fantasy land, Reincarnators from a modern world and a martial arts (Xianxia) world are invading en masse and wreaking havoc. As soon as a reincarnator is found, they are to be executed on site - their arrogance borne from chosen-one complexes mixed with fast power scaling lead to destruction wherever they go. Saeorin, a young girl hailing from barbarian lands, has a personal vendetta against a reincarnator, which prompts them to travel to civilized country and join an anti-reincarnator knight order to enact their revenge. The... more>> story follows Saeorin and her fellow knights as they learn about the world's truths, themselves and the nature of reincarnators, while she hones her natural-born magical talent for swordsmanship.

The gender bender does not have a big impact on this story, although its not not there either - the MC has a bit of a dissociation, they view it as not their body. I think the focus will eventually also turn to the circumstances around the gender bender change as an interesting plot device later. You'll know what I mean if you read the first few chapters.

The translation by Fenrir is solid with daily updates.

13 chapters in and while it was not initially the most exciting start I've read, I'm really intrigued by the mix of murim, modern day, and medieval cultures. I've never seen an author successfully mix them into one story, so I'm looking forward to the attempt and all the surrounding world building going on. The personalities of all the characters are also very distinct and fairly well written - they don't just feel like blank sheets of papers. Saeorin has clear personality quirks and misconceptions, but there is already characterization to slowly address these issues over time.

I think it's a book I can stay by and read for the long haul, and I'll be waiting to read Saeorin's adventures more! <<less
