After Lin Lan dumped her cheating boyfriend and resigned from her job, she was faced with both unemployment and a broken heart. Her current situation is a bit grim and requires serious attention. Thinking about it this way, she put on her sunglasses and boarded the plane, flying by herself without her now ex-boyfriend.

So why was something wrong with her body after the vacation? Like now, she stood at the door of her small building, and accidentally saw someone holding a pet carrier. A pair of white furry paws were pulling at the mesh covering, and its meowing was desperate: “Save me! Help me! The sh*t-shoveling officer (Chinese slang for cat owner) is taking me to get an injection!”

Another time: After successfully getting her revenge against the immoral couple, Lin Lan was discouraged and returned to her hometown, preparing to inherit the family property. She didn’t think that she would suddenly gain an ability. When she discovered that she could communicate with her pet cat without any difficulty, she thought of an idea.

A short while later, pedestrians began to discover that a new cat cafe was opened in the area. The owner sat behind the glass window, with several cats laying on her legs, and around her feet. She sat drowsily in the sun every day, unbothered if her business was prosperous or not. People that hurried by envied her carefree lifestyle.

However, one day, they found out that not only did she own the shop, but her family owned the entire building…

I actually liked this novel at first. It has a horde of cats with different personslities, realistic and mature cat-loving MC, sand sculpture dog dad ML and a cast of side characters whose stories tied to MC.

But what made me rate this novel as mid was because the author doesn't know how to keep the attention of their reader demographic... People who loves to read about cats are mostly romantic, carefree people with short attention span who likes squee-able situations.

I lost my interest after seeing yet another middle-aged Chinese woman... more>> appeared to screech about cats and how the author wrote more about the same-old side characters who would appear and disappear because the author already forgot about them. What I actually meant was that I'm terribly bored of reading about them since they already appeared too much.

If this novel was more like Natsume Yuujinchou where there are no visible CP but more about taking care of spirits cats, I would've rated this higher. But sadly, author gave a glimpse of romance in novel whose demographics are mostly cute cat lovers who are romantic and carefree only to see it being put in the backburner in place of unimportant side characters and horrible middle-aged women. Yes, that generation was abominable but I don't really want to read about them in a cutesy novel.

The author spent more time in projecting their hatred towards that generation rather than the relationship growth between the CP. And do you know what's funny? That said relationship growth was interspaced with middle-aged women bashing.

I noticed that a lot of reviews also said this... so future readers, if you expect cats and romance, shoo go away. Middle-aged women screeching about the horridness of a world littered with cats has more screen time than the ML. <<less

Pros :

It's a light read but not boring. MC isn't the ambitious type. I mean MC just focuse in managing her cat cafe, saving cats etc. It's kinda like a slow life type. I like how MC and ML cares for the cats, they don't let them overeat.

The ML took the time to get to know MC well. There's more to hin than tge usual cold ceo type. I don't think he's a ceo??

... more>> Cons :

The MC isn't mary sue, not op, most of the time just spend her time in the cafe, doesn't really care about revenge. Some might prefer an ambitious, clever, heartless MC. <<less

This is a good novel with lots and lots of cats! I love the interactions between MC and the cats, and well as the interactions between the cats themselves. They’re so cute!

It has a romantic subplot, and the ML doesn’t appear that often. As of chapter 58, they haven’t gotten together yet. The ML seems really sweet though, and I can see how they’ll make a living couple once they get together. The supporting characters are great too, especially MC’s family and some of the ladies who have rented their... more>> apartments in MC’s building.

The translation only goes to c39, but they are great translations, and I love how the translator colour coded the cat’s dialogues.

I started to MTL after that, all the way to c58 where I’m dropping it because I don’t like reading MTL that much. The MTL is pretty easy to understand though.

If I only rate off of the translated chapters, I would give it a 4.5/5.

My rating is 3.5/5 though because if couldn’t keep my attention after I started MTLing. <<less
