I'm currently still reading this novel on RIDIBOOKS (machine translated tho..) , But all I can say to begin with, this is not your typical Korean "BL". if you are looking for a quick, light read, romance and fluff then you wont find it quickly as this is a slow burn. I'm not lying when I tell u I couldn't return to reading the other typical romances after it as I got used to the AMAZING writing.

The plot:

it is a wuxia world building, so if you are not familiar with the Murim world setting, you may get a little confused it might come in handy to memorize the names

this story mainly evolves around the MC's past, the ML's revenge and the return of the original novel MC, it is intriguing and the writing is very adept as every line is well thought of, which I really like, the writer is very skilled!

to summarize, the MC has a power that is seeked by the world, while trying to protect and raise his disciples, problems arise and things keeps getting tangled as time pass.

here are some spoilers that will be uncovered around the 90~100 chapters (maybe a little more less)

choyun's body as it whole is a medicine, causing an unknown cult (not sure which sect;;) to target him to revive their long since trapped master, there's much more to it, but thats the main point, as far as I have read

The romance:

as I mentioned.. slow burn, in the 160 I have read, almost no romance happened, just things with 2 side characters..

there have been few encounters where the chemistry reached its peak between the two but huff not much..

the ML, cheon-oh develops his feeling slowly, at first as a child just being quite clingy and over attached but as he grow up his feelings deepen which left him with no choice but to be aware, this is satisfying >:) he still got alot work to do, and much to grow to be able to manage relationships correctly though. I look for the day he starts his revenge in solitude.

meanwhile choyun.. lets say ignorant and avoidant? this doesn't only apply to romance interest but to every other relationship, which is understandable but I personally dont like it.. I wish he had a friend, but throughout these few arcs, choyun almost had no change :<

imo they both still got along way to go. I hope they take their time to grow ;;

The characters:

i want to say PERFECT so badly, they are well built, more than just trauma and events, you can actually tell that they are deeply thought of and got their own personality.

The story got alot of side characters, you better memorize them cuz I didnt at the beginning and im still a little confused;;

i dont want to dive so deeply, but they are all unique, and im so satisfied that all of them get their fair share of screen time!

and for the pacing, just perfect for the plot. but too slow for my aching heart and probably for cheon-o's heart too haha, I love this story so much yall probably can tell<33

and I have few tips while reading:

    • dont skim over the lines! every line is important and has hidden meanings especially during important conversations, I have had my fair share of the "oh.. so that what it was all about"s
    • try to remember the sect/clans names, (i said this 3 times ik...)

      there are a very helpful posts on reddit, which will make things easier to understand, and it helped me personally when I started diving into murim stories
    • in machine translated novels, especially google translate, always assume that the character are the opposite gender of their pronounce, in Korean there are no gender terms, and in my experience after reading hundreds of google translated novels, just assume it is the opposite gender until they are clearly called "lady/sir/man/boy/girl/woman" I'm saying this since another reviewer complained about it
    • lastly, try to read while focused.. take some mental notes on important chaps;;

and here I guess I have ended my review! ill try to keep this updated, , I'm reading this on ridi, also google translated, in addition to that English isn't my first language.. so I'm literally struggling with 2 language barriers..? yeah I like this story this much. and excuse any mistakes here! I didn't write anything I wasn't certain of :>

Looking at both the summary and what I've skimmed through, it's your cultivation master-disciple relationship novel that's pretty much similar to SVSSS (s*um Villain's Self-Saving System) for those of you who are familiar.

However, I had a hard time reading this because while this novel is tagged with both 'Male Protagonist' and 'BL', there are a lot of mistranslations of the pronouns, using 'she' instead of 'he', of our main character which takes away from the novel. Though, it's a bit too early to say about the quality of the story... more>> itself, the translation already brings down the quality of the novel in initial impressions. <<less

This isn’t based on the translations but the story itself. It’s about a man in college who gets transmigrated into a story where the ML suffers deeply that he read. The MC has to fix things by the previous MC, who was a side character who did things randomly and has a superior, arrogant air.m
