The Count’s daughter Finne lost her parents in her childhood and was treated coldly by her aunt and cousin. She was imprisoned in a remote villa and treated as incompetent, being looked down upon as a failure who couldn’t even go outside. However, she had another face as the masked Wizard, the “Witch of Dawn,” who achieved the first solo defeat of a flying dragon species in human history.

After escaping from the villa where she was imprisoned and blowing away demon beasts with her beloved magic, she found herself being treated like a legendary Wizard. Then one day, she received a marriage proposal from the Creutzfeldt family, who had many dark rumors as corrupt nobles.

“I don’t love you.”

It was supposed to be a political marriage with Zion, known as the cold-hearted Ice Magician. However, it was revealed that the person he was looking for was the “Witch of Dawn,” who had saved his life four years ago.

Moreover, Finne, who was supposed to be a formal decorative wife, accidentally displayed her magical talent and became the center of attention throughout the kingdom.

I think this story was quite good. It had a decent plot and although there were not many romantic moments between MC and ML, they're still sweet in their own way. I love how MC and ML healed each other and found each other's company in their lonely life. MC also healed the ghost that stayed by her side and their interaction was also something that I fonded of.

If there's one thing that I'm a bit disappointed:

Spoiler

It was that MC never told ML her real identity till the end. Although it didn't matter since ML loved both version of MC, I still hope that MC would come clean to ML someday.

Star Rating: 3/5

  1. Did not finish, do not recommend
  2. Didn't like it for several reasons
  3. Okay, satisfactory
  4. Pretty good read
  5. This is going on my lifetime favorites
Setting: 3/5

  • World building is a bit sloppy and not very memorable.
  • The power system is mainly just magic, described with fancy words with no real depth.
  • Overall, the setting nothing special, but wasn't bad either, 3/5.
Main Characters: 4/5

  • The two main characters are pretty interesting and it seems like the author is setting up a lot of interesting backstory for both the main and supporting characters going forward with the novel.
  • There are only 28 chapters translated so far, so there hasn't been much time to flesh out the characters. There are also only 37 chapters total according to NovelUpdates, so I don't have high expectations of much character development.
  • Overall, I hope the characters are explored more and I hope to be pleasantly surprised, 4/5.
Plot/Pacing: 3/5

  • As a comedy, the story isn't all too serious. There are three concurrent story lines: the marriage of Finne and Zion, Finne's adventures as the overpowered Witch of Dawn, and Zion's journey to find the Witch of Dawn (he doesn't know Finne is the Witch of Dawn).
  • The pacing is a bit fast sometimes, character motives aren't fully explored and events are glossed over as they happen rather than expanded on.
  • Overall, the plot was a little too rushed for me to really enjoy, 3/5.
Overall Writing: 3/5

  • There are quite a few tropes put into play (accidentally kissing after falling, etc), which made the series feel more like slap-stick comedy. However, it also feels like the series tries to be a serious drama at times so the mood of the story was a bit incongruent for me.
  • The author doesn't really go into depth about anything, so this goes back to my point about everything feeling being rushed. Some chapters are only a few paragraphs long.
  • Because nothing is fleshed out, sometimes the humor doesn't really land.
  • The author kind of forgets about magic he writes about, or doesn't plan ahead. Why does Finne use a wig and mask if she can use transformation magic? This issue imo is because he wrote Finne to be too overpowered and makes up new magic to deal with different problems she faces.
  • Overall, the writing is light-hearted and mediocre, 3/5.
Enjoyability Factor: 4/5

  • Despite my low ratings for the other categories, I did like reading it, 4/5.
