Naoto Yuuki, a second-year high school student, loves playing games and has recently become addicted to an MMORPG. Not only does he take on powerful enemies, but he also enjoys a fulfilling game life, including getting married in the game.

However, one day, he decides to meet his in-game partner offline.

“This is the first time I’m meeting someone in real life, I’m nervous”, he thinks, while also hoping, “since we’re partners, this might develop into a real-life romance.”

As he arrives at the meeting place with these expectations, he finds a girl who turns out to be an elementary school student. She is his in-game wife and actually has romantic feelings for Naoto in real life… Will he end up in court?

The description pretty much lays it out. Age gap relationship between an aggressive, slightly obsessive and overly mature 10 year old and a very reluctant, slightly insecure but responsible 17 year old. The imagery of spider (her) and butterfly (him) is used multiple times. Her primary motivation for starting the relationship is explained in chapter 10.

This is a very 'japanese' story. Age gap relationships use to be a rather common theme in older japanese literature but as a concept it's slowly fallen out of favor as the west imposes... more>> it's cultural values on japan. It's hard to predict how a modern telling of this theme will go, but that in turn is what makes it interesting to read. <<less

I think the story will be leading into her reaching the age of 16 before they get together because the MC dreamt about it. Or maybe not, because apparently her peers also date high schooler, college students, and working men.

Disregarding all that, it's a cute story with an aggressive female lead a somewhat serious MC. The concerns tackled is more about the legality of it all rather than the morality; in fact he himself seems to be partial towards her, and considers her a woman not just a child.

He has... more>> a supportive cast of friends and little sister who helps their relationship... which may or may not be the most realistic part. My country previously and still do have age gap and child marriages legally, but the values of the west has seeped into our collective consciousness so it has fallen out of favour similar to Japan. Really, it's only a vocal specific crowd that prevents the law from being overturned. Even then, finding supportive friends and people for your age gap relationship is hard here; the MC on the other hand is so casually finding them <<less
