Lin Xi spent fourteen years at this family and never did figure out why she had always been mistreated.

She finally learned that she was living in a cliché novel with radical moral standards.

Her mother was the female lead and her ‘father’ was the male lead. Before the male lead fell in love with the female lead, he had belittled and ab*sed her in all sorts of ways. He even offered her up to others and, finally, the female lead had intimate relationship with a strange man.

The male lead fell head over heels in love with the female lead after that and expressed that he did not mind the child. Nevertheless, the existence of said child was a like a thorn in male and female leads’ hearts and it reminded them of their past constantly.

Unfortunately, Lin Xi was this child that should never had been born.

In the extra, Lin Xi tried to set up her sister out of envy but it backfired on herself and she ended up strangled. The male lead was able to locate the man who had intimacy with the female lead and ruined both his reputation and family fortune.

After 10 seconds of hesitation, Lin Xi decided to leave the family where she was not loved and go live with her own father.

This is like, a more melodramatic version of My Whole Family are Villains, down to their names. Is it plagiarism? Is this one inspired by that one? Did they get the same prompt? Who knows. I tried checking the comments on JJWXC and there isn't a review pointing it out afaik.

To elaborate MFAV, the main character and her twin brother is named Su Bei 苏贝 and Su Xiaobao 苏小宝. If you put those names together then it's 宝贝 （treasure). Here, our MC is named Lin Xi 林昔 and will change... more>> her name to Gu Xi 顾惜 from the word meaning 珍惜 cherish. Maybe I'm stretching it but... ¯\_ (ツ) _/¯

They both similarly are xueshens, they both meet a boy coincidentally the day they are made to take a competence test. There is similarly a vote for the school flower where this male classmate and mc's male relative (s) help campaign and get votes for her. They also both win and choose to do a piano performance. They both join online competitions anonymously and through stealing their father's information. MFAV concerning hacking and this one regarding technology...? The teams are both in groups of threes, with teammates who are coincidentally in MC's circle in real life. There's also camps where the father and child (ren) wear matching outfits.

Among a lot of other stuff, I'm just listing off the top of my head.

That all being said though, I do think the author did more research into the niche that the MCs carved for themselves, and I liked how the relationship between father-daughter developed here as well as that with the male lead, even if the romance was at the very end, because we saw that it was developed across the duration of the novel and not during the timeskip period.

Also, because the ML happens to be the classmate and not some older college guy, I have less issues with the romance morally. The review I posted right before this one explains why.

Finally, while there are many things in common, there are a few divergences. For example MFAV had their mother abandon them at birth while here, the mother was a victim whilst simultaneously a real abusive b*tch. The whole Lin family are. And I think it's how the story diverged, and how certain characters were merged/separated (you'd understand what I mean if you read it), that I could better appreciate this one.

Also hats off to the translator, like I said I do think the author did some research into this so there's some pretty heavy science stuff that will be translated later on. God knows because I'm more of a conversational speaker, I had to run to deepl to understand the more science-y aspects. <<less

I love this novel literally, MC and her paternal family's relationship is family goals, never got bored as it didn't take much time to read. The extra chapters were so painful yet so hopeful, I'm glad Gu Shao did everything he could for MC in the last chapter so that her future changed

It was okay, I liked the relationship between FL and her family, there is not much romance in here, FL relationship with her family is very cute and fluff, I loved that there are not much face slapping incidents or cringe moments with the other characters being super s*upid, everything is balanced, I just wanted a little more romance

Honestly, when will some translators drop this habit of splicing chapters, but numbering them incorrectly, there are only 100 chapters in this novel, it's not so troublesome to mark the number and part 1, 2 or 3.

Anyway, the original "plot" of this novel that Lin Xi knows is so brain dead and outright bad that it leaves such a bad taste. You know some stories are like a bloodshed, but it's one thing to make it work and another is to look at these empty-heads and be like - ehhhh,... more>> what type of disgusting people are these. Just ewe. Too much.

I really didn't read much before putting it down (or basically skipping through) and it felt like a lot of it was spent on Lin Xi's education time. She's aspirational, wants to be independent and has her own plans and if you're not into that type of thing it feels like a bird language when they start to use tech lingo. But I just didn't feel for the story. It's not like I expected the story to turn in a certain way or had expectations of it to be entertaining, but it just never hooked me up. Thus I decided to put it down.

So I'm not rating this book, if you feel like reading and the positive reviews inspired you, then go ahead, it's all a matter of taste and subjectiveness in this case. <<less

It's not a bad story if you want a casual read about a girl who came from an abusive family and runs to find her biological father whom slowly learns to love her and pampers her.

FL is 14 at the start of the story. I don't think she's as naive/dumb as some reviewers mentioned. In fact, I think she's quite smart to be able to get out from a bad situation and find her way to her father. Sure, some of her thought processes are a bit strange, like trying... more>> to save money to prevent family downfall - but she's 14 and probably hasn't seen much of the world. Especially since she seems more like a study nerd.

Storyline otherwise is pretty tropey and standard. She gets bullied, her new family stands up for her, FL also shows off her skills, and everything ends up well for the FL while the villains get their just desserts.

Translation is 4/5. The names keep getting mixed up which makes it confusing. It also gets split in 3 for each chapter which makes it feel like a draggy read for me. Otherwise a casual okay read to pass the time.

I gave it a 3.5. <<less

Slice of life. Daddy Gu made me feel loved, Lin Xi made me root for her. Shen boii is crush-able.

Also, completely satisfying ending.

This starts out pretty decent, watching the smart 14 y/o try to save herself from a miserable future she's seen. She finds her bio dad, and they slowly arm up to each other. Ngl as the majority of this novel occurs when she's 14 it would have been nice to have more exciting things going on. Maybe even slowly grown up with the novel rather than stuck to one age. The romance was lackluster tho expected... IDK it was an okay read, but I'm not all that satisfied. It feels... more>> like all the characters seem so intelligent but then for nothing, it makes it seem like MC has a busy life, but then it's honestly nothing...

Probably because the novel felt too repetitive with the exam and competition situation, plus only having the novel follow about a year then jump to college freshman in the last 2 chapters was too rushed and boring. Probably the fact that the translation dragged it on for 250+ chapters subconsciously making the story seem dragged out too boring for its length and its bizzare pacing too.

anyway, I completed it so ill say its ok to pass the time. Not much comedy factor or romance. Even lacks excess wholesomeness or cuteness. <<less

Adorable and healing. The romance idea was forced, but not from the MC and the ML (who is hilarious) but so cringe from everyone always shipping them hard. Like calm down old people the kids are 14. The kids are actually normal kids (albeit really smart) and their brains are not filled with dating. Gu Xi is one of the few protagonists that exhibit signs of the ab*se she grew up with and heals slowly from it. It's heart-warming to see.

The OG!novel was disgusting and taught me a new low.... more>> Like wow. I can't with what the poor "Lin Xi" went through. That person that gave birth to her needed to suffer. <<less

A novel where our MC goes from rags to riches, she has been badly mistreated in the past and turns her life around when she decides to find her blood related father.

This is more of a family drama (as it should be.) You get to watch her grow more confident in herself and her surroundings while her entire family spoils her.

There are clear issues with originality, but the more obvious parts fade away after a while and it's still an alright story if you have enough free time.

Now, a lot... more>> of the tech details they go into feel like they've been written by a 14-year old, and some of the plot is questionable, but it you're here you won't care about that anyway.

They have an alternate ending, where the dad finds out how she was treated, and that was so messed up it took away all of the joy of a completed novel for me.

It wasn't bad, but it left me feeling the pain of the original story more than the strange parallel world after that.

This novel is so good. Based on current translation its currently around chapter 20 to 23 but it was so interactive that I got pulled in to read the mtl. And I hate mtl. It is a sweet and nice novel about the interaction between a new dad and a n ab*sed daughter. It was so satisfying when the Villain got slap.

Good novel to pass time. Really similar to "my whole family is a villain" so feel free to read it if youre into that uwu

The only thing im sort of dissatisfied here is how alot of the side characters just come and go without a proper ending.

Overall the family love is really good and romance too if you count it in haha

ML is a goof his struggles at the end because of the fam is really funny
