This novel is something I highly recommend. I'd rate this 100/5 stars.

Lin You is a summoner in a horror game. She can summon the ghosts she defeated before. Though it sounds op as hell, it has time restrictions and cool down periods per card. And not all the ghosts are powerful. Lin You is an amazing MC. She's hilarious and a BOSS. She does not defeat the ghosts in a normal way. Her humour is awesome.... more>>

For example, after she locked herself in a room, the drowned ghost flowed water in from under the door to get them. But she stood in front of the door to wipe the water with a mop until the ghost lost it's hope to catch them like that. She also resorts to beating up snd threatening the ghosts to get clues to clear the game.

The ending was super shocking. I was speechless for a while but then I went "KYAAA~!!! There's a male lead!!!" I didn't expect that.

About the translation, it's good. I don't know if it's the author or the translator, but the story doesn't flows very nicely and the pronouns are confusing some of the times. But it's not hard to understand. There are some info dump in some sentences that I needed to read more than one time to understand. But overall, the translation was 7/10. Edit: But it became pretty good after a few chapters now. 9/10. <<less

It's been a while since I've read this, so I might get some things wrong, but I'm just here to shed some light on why the rating is low.

tl;dr

Do not read: THERE ARE SO MANY OTHER BOOKS THAT DO A MUCH MUCH BETTER JOB.

1) The story is flat, characters are flat, everything is flat

Everyone is there to glorify MC. The side characters, the passerbys, the monsters, EVERYBODY. They have no personality, MC included, because her personality is just a paper cut-out of what the author believes is a cool, strong female MC. HOWEVER, that defies the logic of people. Everyone, even the most OP person ever, has weaknesses. And the MC does not. So, she's just realll fake.

2) The MC is so OP (?) that she can't be more OP (?)

The story goes like MC gets into one of those horror escapist games and is like "Oh I see a ghost imma slam a door or a desk or a something at it" and it works??? (Why she isn't dead is the biggest question) And then this warrants her getting the most OP job (skill abilities) in the game by becoming a summoner (someone who summons ghosts). *rolls eyes*

So, already, there's an issue. If people could just slam things in a ghost's face and it'd WORK, everyone would be doing it. It's not hard, yet when MC does, everyone glorifies how smart she is, how brave she is, how unique she is, etc etc. The other thing is, this summoner job is just too OP. How is the survival game supposed to balance this??? Since horror escape rooms are there to kill people, giving someone such advantageous abilities is ridiculous. Even if it were to be true, there'd be SERIOUS restrictions. However, while it is briefly mentioned that ghosts summoned can rebel if they are too strong, this fact fades out of view and MC just wields ghosts left and right and destroys EVERYTHING.

3) Unwarranted worshipping of MC

This is the most serious issue. MC is supposedly trying to do her thing quietly, but then she suddenly somehow becomes super famous, then everyone is curious about her, and then somehow everyone believes she is super OP and god-like and all that jazz.

Legit, there are chapters of people writing on forums worshipping MC and fan-girling and trying to make the situation of MC beating up ghosts super hilarious -- except it's not.

What's so funny about beating up ghosts??? It's not even that creative -- yet the author keeps stressing MC is super smart. UGH

4) Very, very dull

MC has no character growth. A plain, brown, cardboard cutout that is seriously not unique but is "smart". Does that mean that everyone in the book is just... doubly s*upid? s*upid beyond belief?

Not sure why this has such a poor rating. The story is a lot of fun, with a great FL that easily takes charge. The monsters are all based on preexisting horror stories, but the real entertainment of this story comes from the MC completely screwing them over in highly entertaining and unique ways. Sure, the story is far from perfect; The translation can get wonky at points with its editing and the story's formula can get a little repetitive at times, but since it works so well it doesn't... more>> get boring. Its a delightful mix of horror and comedy, and well worth a shot. <<less

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5 Stars!!!

I will tell you this is totally not your average book. I loved it so much that I was stunned when it ended.I binge read the whole tHing in one day and night.

Petitioning for more, its fine if it's only extras too.

This horror comedy novel will take you for a ride with the MC who does not conform to the usual sense of normalcy. A ghost crawling out of the TV, the water ghost who is dragging you under, monsters and terrorizing creatures out to get you will... more>> definitely have anyone at their wits end even if it's only a game. But your 3 outlooks will definitely be shook, when it's the MC who is flushing the ghost down the toilet, mopping the water to not let the ghost squeeze in, electrocuting the ghost coming out the TV, setting fire to the monsters hair, making all kinds of traps and plans for the ghosts.

It's definitely people running away from ghosts out to get them, but MC is chasing after the same monsters, telling them to wait. As her reputation spread through, all the ghost know to avoid the devil.

I will tell you it was so goddamn hilarious 😂🤣🤣 🤣🤣🤣🤣

And this also has romance!!!! Only confirmed in the end though. I had seen one of the reviews saying that their is ML and they were also surprised when it came out in the last few Chapters. Have to say even I was stunned.

Because of that I was keeping an eye out for the potential ML. Have to say this is not the usual, because MC only met the ML quite a bit in the novel. I thought it might be this another guy

I felt that he had the most potential as their was a vague tacit understanding between them but it turned out not to be true. He shows up quite a bit after that, but fades out more in the later, so I kind of felt complicated.

Then our ML

Nayr (can't spell his whole name), one of the 3 pillars of gods.

He definitely was a unique one. He can show up whenever he wants, is always looking for a show. I felt a bit complicated because he was only in the game. But *Surprise*Surprise*, . In the last few Chapters he gets triggered and finally after meeting MC in real life, they confirm their relationship.

Really the romance here is a side-side topic. I would have been shook if I hadn't seen that only one review about it.

Even so, out beloved MC here is definitely not your average character. If you are looking for "horror", definitely comedy, Strong MC, trying to be low-key but a recognized Ultimate Mega Boss. Yep we have it all right here and more!!!!!

The translation for this really does it a disservice. I am grateful to the translators, but this would vastly benefit from having an editor. A lot of the events are not clear and some of the jokes fall flat because it's difficult-to-impossible to be clear about what's going on.

Having said that this is hilarious. If I had to compare it to something, it would probably be To Be a Power in the Shadows (in tone). This had me laughing a lot. Even through the not-so-great translations the author's flare with... more>> words is apparent.

The chapters are well-written and it hooked me enough that I basically didn't read anything else just to finish it. I loved the chapters where the author explored the forum posts - they were hilarious - and the way the FLs good deeds were revealed to the other players.

The story has a natural progression, and though certain things were slightly rushed, I think it finished at a natural point (though it could have sustained a lot more arcs imo). The FL doesn't really undergo any kind of character growth nor does she find herself in any situation that she can't handle, but that's the premise of the story; having a FL who thinks so outside the box that she's OP (and also the fact that it's a game setting immediately takes away any kind of life-or-death stakes).

Tl;dr: Would highly, highly recommend, though I really wish the translations could be edited/retranslated where necessary as it is headache-inducing at times to read <<less

"I heard that I'm super fierce" is parody/subversion of horror genre. It is mainly comedy with horror setting.

The setting is virtual reality game where player is inserted to horror mystery setting. Player must survive, or solve the situation. The game take (copy paste) many horror games and movies so we will see many familiar stories.

We dont have much info about MC background, just that she is a fan of horror story, and has nerve of steel. She is not afraid of ghost, and ghost fear her instead.

The main good point... more>> of this novel is the creativity of MC. How she defeat the ghost by exploiting their weakness which is consistent with their lore.

And now I have to revise my review. Because the latest chapter turn around and make it about romance. Which is done poorly. Everything is great up until that point <<less

It was good - made me laugh and had an interesting game element. It was dragged down a little by the translation quality - often I had to guess what a sentence was trying to convey, and pronouns were often mixed up so it was difficult to know who was speaking or doing an action.

Unfortunately, I was bored by chapter 130 or so. As another reviewer has said, she’s just too OP and everyone and everything else serves as a foil to her. She also isn’t interesting enough for that... more>> to be the case for as long as it has been - I’ve now dropped it as I don’t see what else interesting she can do. If she had a goal I could read until she fulfils it but she doesn’t. There’s no character development or in depth relationships. There’s no conflict, rival or enemy that she can’t just step on without any tension. It’s a shame as it started off so well <<less

Don’t be scared by the first few chapters! That’s the only reason I can think of that this story has so many one stars. The first couple chapters are done in an atrocious mtl, but once the other translation starts, the story becomes readable.

This story is a very enjoyable, fun read. The MC deals with the horror situations the game throws at her in an aggressive and comedic style that makes the story feel more like a comedy than a horror story.

I’m surprised to see such a low rating. A while back, I was marvelling at how interesting this was and will definitely come back for more. I can see that it possibly can get repetitive in the future, but so far it’s great and the way the FL take care of the situations are certainly amusing.

I am surprise to see that this novel have such a low rating.

Although I had trouble with getting into this novel for the first couple of chapters, once I finished the first arc/game, the novel became very enjoyable to me.

I enjoyed the various supernatural/horror references/appearances from other media and how the MC will conquer them. I also like the MC, because of the way she deals with these supernatural entites.

This is hamds down one of my favorite books. The main character is funny and clever, always trying to think of ways to trap or trick the ghosts. If you read carefully, there are times when she's afraid, it's just her reaction is a bit abnormal 😂. More likable than those characters who don't solve the problem because they are too afraid. My only criticism is the ending is a bit abrupt and I would love to see more 😭. Also, I now wish this game existed for real

I really love this novel. It is funny, not because of jokes, but due to the actions of the MC. Her handling of the situations just deviates to much from the norm, coupled with the thoughts and reactions of 'normal' humans. It's gold. I highly recommend it.

PS: The horror elements are pretty mild, as long as you do not care about some really graphic desriptions. But I find they get overshadowed by the comedic handling through the MC. Still loving it. Sad it is over, but the ending was probably... more>> timely, so as to not seem overdrawn unnecessarily lenghty. <<less

The plot/ storyline is different from a lot of dungeon/ horror game play novel. Usually the plot is where the MC was forcefully sent to become player in a game & can die in reality. But this novel is about a group of people voluntarily play the game & will not die in reality even though they died in the game.

There's a plot hole here and there but it still interesting to read. I feel that the writer got a lot of horror idea from Ito Junji manga or Japanese... more>> ghost/ horror stories. But there's a lot of ghost/ horror stories from other asia countries, so can't wait to see what other ghost the MC will encounter in the game. <<less

This novel was soooooo good!!!

Warning, don't read this novel at night, not because it's a horror novel, but because you will laugh out loud so much your parents would come to check up on you to see if you've gone crazy.

MC is so interesting and her methods to subdue ghosts and monsters are beyond hilarious. Her teammates' dumbfounded reactions to her are so funny to read.

... more>> I was able to increase my knowledge on urban legends by reading this novel and that was cool.

My only complaint is that the romance was quite forced.

All in all, I wish to go back in time and read this novel again for the very first time - it was that good. <<less

I saved this novel for Halloween and I’m glad I did. I loved how the FL thought outside the box while fighting the ghosts. Did her unconventional ideas make her OP? Yes, but the plot and the translation were fun so I’m OK with it

I highly recommend this book for a twist on horror novels

I really like this story, the MC is strong and is afraid of nothing, she does things as she wants and doesn't care about people's opinions.

There is no romance (just a little bit in the five last chapter) and it's all about the horror game. Also I laughed a lot in imaginating the situation she was in and what she did to the ghosts.

The translation was not perfect but it's comprehensible.

Definetly worth a read. The MC is funny, the story is refreshing, since I've only been reading reincarnation romances. Seriously, this one is underated. If you are looking for a lot of urban legend, but nothing too scary, game environment, and still funny, this is the rigth place.
