I transmigrated into a novel and became the villainess, Serina who comes from the noble Ducal Melford family.

As a well-to-do character, I tried to mind my own business, but the story had other ideas. A self-proclaimed mother brought back a boy – the duke’s heir and a genius wizard – intent on brainwashing and blackening him.

The contents of brainwashing are two things:

1. Obey our family.

2. And fall in love with Serina.

Thanks to that, the brainwashed twisted yandere is obsessed with me…

I can’t do this. I have to undo the twisted character’s brainwashing!

By the way, what’s this situation?

“Now that the brainwashing is gone, I’ll do as I please. So Serina, please, let’s do our best.”

I’ve solved his brainwashing… but why does he seem even crazier than before—

I'm surprised that it has such a low rating...I actually love the novel. The premise is pretty unique imo and omg I love the dynamic between her and her brothers

The ML being brainwash by MC's mother, successfully made him love the MC. Although MC is a reincarnated person, she doesn't usually utilizes it and just watching things unfold as she couldn't do anything to stop her mother. Though, she is always there for ML as thinking ahead of curing him (brainwash) in the future. Sadly at the start, when he slightly recovered, he tried to kill the MC as he hated her (according to what she saw in his eyes). But still before he could do it, it's either he failed because the antidote didn't fully disinfect him or that he couldn't truly kill her. So now, he is still obsessed over the MC going so far as to wait for her and interrupt her in bidding the elf (as one of the helpers for finding the cure of the ML) as he was curious as to why she wasn't interested in anything he had given her and so when he followed MC as MC's brother told him about the MC's whereabout, he was very jealous as to why she picked that MALE elf. Well, the auction was interrupted midway due to the male protagonist of the story raiding. That is till the latest heheh...

The story is interesting, very interesting till now. Unlike transmigrated MCs who turn super-OP and solve ALL problems in one shot, MC is weak, helpless and unable to do anything at this point of time. This is a realistic change from the usual trope and how she goes about trying to achieve her goals is pretty nice.

If you are looking for a story with heavy angst and a complicated romance, this is a good one. It was interesting to watch the FL and ML interact, the whole brainwashing ML to love FL is an interesting plot which gave each romantic scene a bitter tension that made reading kind of exciting but also nerve-racking.

The ending was very satisfying for me. I read a lot of typical happy ending josei stories so it was refreshing and heartbreaking to read out a story like this. This story doesn't have... more>> a completely happy ending, which I think was fitting for the plot. <<less

Aaaah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It’s been a long time since I last read something like this on NU. My favorite type of “killing me softly” where you feel your chest hurt with the entanglement between the main characters. It’s the kind of story that you feel heartache over not knowing if it will end in tragedy or not. I love the premise of the story and the main leads. Such a gem!

I love this novel and very recommended it. Even tho there is some inconvenient in the novel's next chapter button as only sometimes that it brings you to the real next chapter and otherwise a completely different novel's chapter. So the only way to go to the next chapter is to go back to this page and choose the chapter you want 🙁🙁. But let's put that aside, the story is more interesting for you to care about this kind of inconvenient thing. It was very entertaining and a very... more>> serious type too. It was totally my cup of tea so I don't really understand the low star review, maybe because the inconvenient that I just mentioned. This is not your typical novel (well maybe, it's just my opinion) and I very recommend to read, just turn a blind eye on the inconvenient and you will see how beautiful the novel is. <<less

i saw some spoilers about this novel. Hope they were false :' (I love them so much especially the male lead. And our female lead is not s*upid. The writing style is perfect, I felt ever little thing. This novel gave me lots of emotions that I hope the manhwa would be like this too.

I keep saying this about every novel but I feel like this is really the best one I've read so far. As far as I can remember, I don't recall any severely disturbing typos or grammatical errors, and I'm more than content with the pacing and plot of the novel. From an early point you can see the yandere-ness of the male lead, and I can't help but applaud this, because I've never read a novel where the yandere was actually yandere enough to satisfy me (why does this sound... more>> pe*verted). I'm very VERY satisfied with ILLYML. The only complaint I have is that chapters are split into two and I get impatient with the updates, but I know the translator is giving their best effort and am immensely grateful for them. Highly recommend this, but maybe read it after a dozen more chapters are out so you don't have to wait so much! <<less

*The mother is in charge of the title. Translator can't seem to figure out if they should address her as either Duke or Duchess. So sometimes they choose both. (A little bit annoying.)

*MC is the weak type. (This wasn't so bad. Actually was one of the most refreshing part of the novel, really.)

*Dragged a bit and suddenly lost interest.

*Translation issue... again. Sometimes I got lost and didn't know the author switched scenes already.

I normally never get around to reviewing things, but this is so damn good that I thought it would be a disservice to not sing its praises for people who are considering reading.

The characters are emotionally complex, the magic is interesting, and the plot is the most unique I've come across in the transmigration genre. Plus, the translation is well done!

Overall, I love stories with strong FLs and submissive MLs, and I think this is the best one I've read so far. If all this stuff sounds like your jam,... more>> I strongly recommend giving ILLYML a try. <<less

Great novel for those who love angst, but since I don't I'm not going to put stars for this since my bias would denounce that it is a good novel for angst, just not my cup of tea. The beginning imo seem like bait as I was hoping to read a romance novel with a yandere ML but instead romance was pretty lacking midway to the end as the plot focused more on the setting and the backstory. I ended up being more interested in FL's mother's story more since... more>> FL's romance got too angsty for me to enjoy and I just gave up on the romance. Focusing on the twins and the mother's story allow me to finish the novel. Otherwise I would've dropped it. <<less

MC and ML's relationship is so bitter-sweet it's heartbreaking. Reading through this novel is an emotional rollercoaster, except the tracks are always plummeting downwards. It's so painfully tragic, and that's what gives this novel its shine.

MC is a villainess. ML is brainwashed. Childhood friends. Twisted relationships. Misunderstandings ensue. ML is so pitiful it hurts, and MC is so lost she hurts ML, but ML never gives up. His undivided devotion to her is insanely admirable.

Waiting for new updates will be a difficult and arduous period of time. I treasure this... more>> novel that much. <<less

It's boring. That's it. I love the concept, it's something that if written well could be great but I'm having a hard time reading it. The pacing is way off and I find myself having to take multiple breaks just to get through a chapter. I might get better later in the book but currently, I can't force myself to continue reading.

i feel like there are so many ways in which this novel could go wrong, but honestly the author is doing really well!! I love alistair for obvious reasons and and I LOVE serina because shes a little selfish and flawed in ways that I can relate too. The translation is also good, as is the usual case with that1villainess

This story isn't perfect by any means, whether it's the characters, the plot, the writing, or the world building. But it hovered just above satisfactory so I continued to read.

Yet I couldn't help giving it a slightly higher rating because one in a while, there are moments that are of higher quality than the rest of the novel, moments that dip deeper into thoughts that I wouldn't have expected from this story.

I got into the novel bc I liked the manhwa so much and couldnt wait to read more about what was happening, and I loved the novel so much more!

Nearly every character acts like a villain. A big theme in this story is about human selfishness and how the world is full of ppl trying to achieve their own desires. The MC may seem like a good person due to her wanting to break MLs brainwashing, but the reasoning for it is a complex web of love, guilt, and her... more>> desire to alleviate her own guilt. MC and MLs relationship is quite complex, so its interesting to see what their true feelings are and how they progress.

For instance MC was so sure she could withstand anything from ML after breaking his brainwashing, but she still couldn't stand it when sh*t hit the fan. This led to MC realizing how much she valued and prioritized her own freedom of choice.

The most fluff you'll get is during the journey to break the brainwashing (which is only the first half of the novel), so don't expect too much afterwards. Ofc this is a romance, but their relationship is more like war than peace. These characters dont reveal their feelings through normal means, rather through taking action to do what they believe is best for each other.

The first story lays out how the MC came back to life and how she reunites w her brothers. It's implied that all the characters MC loves will meet again and live happily.

I was disappointed to see that we didn't get a sweet, fluffy MC and ML moment til the end. I also wanted to read more about their kid, but I'm assuming it will take a long time before that happens which is why it wasn't written in.

The second side story is super short and explains the original novel's story where MCs a sadist. I liked seeing the parallels btw this story and the og novels where either the MC or ML ends up dying and the other is so obsessed w them that they bring them back to life.

Love-hate relationships are my thing so Imma just camp here.

So far MC is likable and sensible girl, whilst our ML is batsh*t crazy lol. That's only to be expected tho, he's been drugged for 1/3 of his life. I like their dynamics, I wanna know what happens next asap BUT THERE ARE JUST TOO FEW CHAPTERS-

Also on the side note, translation isn't the best, but still delivers the message across and actually improves over time. So, if you're gonna skip this one just because of sum tl errors, I tell... more>> ya it would be a pity. <<less
