I met the male lead in prison.

Okay. I get that I transmigrated into an R-19 tragic romantic novel, but why is he like this?

“Bark! Bark! Bark! Grrrrrr…”

I can’t believe this guy is held by a curse that makes him act like a beast…And that’s not the end of it, because when he returns to normal for a moment.

“I-i-if you aren’t g-going to take responsibility for what you did to me, th-th-then don’t t-touch me!”

At any rate, I felt relieved that I probably wouldn’t have any sort of romantic interactions with this guy.

A year later…

“Th-th-the day I leave this place, please…m-meet up with me!”

Well it wouldn’t be a big deal to meet him once. But, then, when I was released from prison…

***

“Welcome back. My lovely younger sister.”

The day of my release, a man approached me. Turns out, I’m the villain’s sister.

“You must have suffered going to prison in my stead. I waited only for you.”

…F*ck. My brother’s the male lead’s sworn enemy?

***

3 years later, I met the male lead. He looked totally different than when I last saw him.

“It’s been a while, Iana. I’m going to kidnap you now.”

It's mostly ok to read, that said, I can't say I'm satisfied with the novel overall, sadly.

There's a list of things that I'm annoyed with, and are total killjoys.

First, the plot itself flows sort of fine until things start to escalate, it gets sloppy fast.

... more>> There's the ending. The side stories help a bit but it doesn't really erase the things that ticked me off, because it doesn't really fix them.

In terms of tags, rather than a love triangle is a reverse harem. Half of said harem doesn't even get a chance to express themselves, even risking their lives and doing whatever she asks for. It's not like they did something to deserve that treatment, unlike the villanous guy, which ironically, she never ignores. It's not only ridiculous in terms of plot (as neglect makes them crazy) but also... if you at least appreciate a person, you aren't so shitty to them.

It can't really be excused by her supposed aloofness, as she doesn't act like that with the ml, before or after knowing everything. Well, those things are fairly common in that genre but it was annoyingly blatant here.

Which brings me to another issue. It's sort of explained why she's so aloof, but she's still seen as kind. She isn't... which she knows but only bothers to say to the ML and just because it's needed in that context. I would be totally fine if she's aloof, but it's annoying that it gets excused so the reader doesn't have to hate her.

Other thing that's annoying is the ML himself. The personalities only get fused in the end, but it's only a guess, it wasn't even shown per se that it was fixed in that respect nor the explanation for it happening like that was decent in the first place. Regardless of that, he's as obsessive as the villanous guy, it's just that it's painted differently (and thus seen differently by the fl). There's the fact that he hides how twisted he is, and later his physical status, which puts FL (and everyone in the harem honestly) in a worse situation than it already was. His excuse/reason isn't even fine. I'm also annoyed at how easy FL let it pass. It's ridiculous.

The antagonists, well, the villanous guy is the typical obsessive, I can't say he was particularly special. His motivations were interesting at least I guess.

The empress was a bit better in that sense maybe, with the exposure being smaller and her characteristics it made sense for her to exist for that little time.

The only woman in the harem feels like a pity. She appears so much less, same for the other relegated harem member. The guy is so sweet to her, and honestly, along with the girl, are the only ones that actually give the FL healthy space and respect. Sure, the girl also is two faced like the ML but she never actually lied to her, besides, at some point she shown herself as she is anyway.

The fl's choices say a lot about of her mental health I suppose.

The translation I read was ok.

The art is ok too, could be better but it's just like the novel, good idea, not so good execution.

TLDR: Ok to pass the time but I wouldn't really recommend it. Obviously not a re-read option for me either. It's the embodiment of good idea, not so good execution. <<less

I enjoyed it. Plenty of yanderes which I'm a fan of. The yanderes stay yandereish. The few R rated scenes later in the story felt kinda like a let down IMO. There were quite a few potholes.. Premises that didn't quite go anywhere.
Spoiler

I was unsatisfied with the harem ending.. The harem is an actual story plotline which we have seen led to another blue roses death. Yet our main character can play favorites and doesn't really run into any issues with balancing the attentions of multiple roses who will go mad if they don't have her? Just didn't feel well thought out repercussion wise.

Kinda felt too Mary Sue by the end. Adored by all but she is 'unfeeling', adaptable 'rational'.

The story did not feel consistent throughout. I see the story as having a few different arcs that feel quite different.
Spoiler

First prison arc where she is a 'side character. Next is imprisonment arc. Next the revelation that she is the main character after all and suddenly magic. So on and so forth

[collapse]

I wish I had skipped reading the Epilogue. It kinda ruined the ending for me.

Spoiler

There was a premise that if she was separated from her roses, the roses would go insane. In the Epilogue she is separated from two of the roses for 7ish years except for by letter? Somehow not a problem?

[collapse]

Spoiler

Black roses punishment is to serve coffee at a coffee shop.. And only get to see her ever now and then.. While the other roses who aren't being 'punished' are separated by a whole dimension.

[collapse]

Spoiler

Next she was sent to her world again but cannot truly interact with anyone because they only remember she exists when she's in front of them? What is the point of that outside of a long honeymoon with her favorite rose? Then it started going down some sidetrack of she needs to hunt down other dimension hoppers? Weird..

[collapse]

Spoiler

Whatever happens with the 'these aren't your roses subplot'. Like I get it that she doesn't care but how does that affect the timeline?;
