I Only Like Your Face

Everyone says Mo Ming hit the jackpot. He was originally just a poor, helpless soul with no connections. But because his face happened to resemble Han Shaozhou’s married “white moonlight,” he was taken back by Han Shaozhou and pampered to the skies.

It’s said that Mo Ming followed President Han devotedly for three years. It’s said that Mo Ming deeply loved President Han and tried every possible means to replace Han’s “white moonlight.” Later, it was said… President Han insisted on dragging him to get married, but Mo Ming refused no matter what.

Mo Ming was obedient and well-behaved. He liked to kiss Han Shaozhou’s face and say he liked him, but Han Shaozhou thought he was shallow. They had been together for so long, and Mo Ming would always praise only his face, never trying to understand him on a deeper level…

Later, Han Shaozhou realized that Mo Ming really just loved his face, and nothing more.

Some people envied Mo Ming: “He truly reached the pinnacle of life just by relying on his face.”

Some mocked him: “A stand-in is just a stand-in, getting kicked out is only a matter of time.”

Some gloated: “Oh my, President Han’s ‘white moonlight’ got divorced. If Mo Ming doesn’t step aside for the real deal now, when will he?”

Mo Ming was truly in a hurry: “President Han, listen to the call of others, hurry up and let go.”

Han Shaozhou once worried that Mo Ming would become a clingy nuisance that he couldn’t shake off. Until that day, when he, as usual, tried to scare Mo Ming with a breakup, Mo Ming gently nodded and said, “Okay.”

Caught off guard, the man who Han Shaozhou thought loved him to the point of no return just left without looking back.

If I could, I would give this story 100000000000 stars, oh my god.

This story is waking me up from my reading slump!

I want to thank the author for creating such masterpieces.

... more>> This story is not about a power couple or anything like that; it's just a story of someone who wanted to seek justice for his loved one.

I'm not really blaming the MC for using the ML as a stand-in because the ML also did the same.

But I do believe that in those three years, both of them started to grow their feeling for each other without realizing it, even to the point of the MC.

I like the way the author makes the MC not like Gary Stu, the author shows us perfectly how cunning, cautious, and even the way he fooled the ML.

He has a rough past, knowing his benefactor had died unfairly like that, pressed his button to choose playing with fire by approaching the ML.

I loveboth ML and MC ccharacters. The ML seems to to love him a, lot, but still stuck with his 'profesional' not-involving-feeling principle until ikind ofind o. TheThe MC hims, elf, I found him quite naive when it comesthe ML. the ML. The shadostandsng stands insurrounding sure, rounding him, siis nce everyone is talking about it right under his nose.

But I really like this type of slow burn, lmao.

The plot is refreshing, when it comes to to how the MC didn't want to hold someone tight while the ML begs him to rely on him.

It's sad when the ML begging him even asking him to use him as tools TT

I like how the ML not gives up to chase his little one TT

I was afraid this story will be an open ending OMG. But the extra was surprised me.

Also, Zao Cheng HAHAHAHA, I love his character.

The best support character!

Honestly I want more extras... I can't get enough.

I love this story so much huhhu

Also, thank you for translating this story! <<less

A brief review of mine to this novel; It's a decent one, and I quite like it. The flow of the plot/arcs, the characters, and the romance really made me sink into it.

On normal times, I don't like substitute articles, but this is decent as there's logic present in it. I wasn't expecting the execution of the plot double substitute would be this good as most of the time, they're poorly written. You can understand the reason behind the characters' actions, misunderstandings, and reactions. It's like an omniscient POV that... more>> shows all, although not in one go as that would ruin the novel.

As mentioned, I like the romance as it's really written well to me. I don't connect lately to romances, so I'm quite happy I felt it here. It's just right for me to see how the two came together after what happened.

The character I like the most is probably the protagonist, Mo Ming. He represents the word white, cut black. I'm not sure if my phrase is accurate but meaning innocent on outside appearances but not on the inside. He's not a poor damsel in distress that can be bullied anytime by anyone. I love the scenes where he snaps back and just comes out dominant. He's really an amazing character.

Overall, this is highly recommended for me. So, consider it. Thank for picking this up, tl/s!! <<less

I didn't expect to like this as much as I do. I thought it's just going to be one of those generic face slapping novels that I consume and immediately forget but here I am, actually writing a review.

First of all, both MC and ML are very very flawed individuals. They started a relationship by using each other so you can guess how badly it ends once the ruse is up. ML is arrogant, brash and violent. He can even be hypocritical which his friend actually points out to him.... more>> But he is also a very sincere person.
Spoiler

There was a time when he was blinded by anger when he found out that MC saw him as a substitute, but instead of hurting MC, he smashed MC's furniture (there's no harm done bc it's the furniture MC stole from ML's apartment lmao)

[collapse]
Honestly, he's kind of a freak and MC? Is a bigger freak, so they match each other's freak ig lmao.

MC, on the other hand, looks gentle and like a typical weak chicken MC at first who submits to their dominant partner, but he is, in fact, very manipulative and cold af. I don't think I've ever seen him lose his cool. He is decisive until
Spoiler

He realizes he's in love with the ML but he's not sure if his love for ML is truly for ML and not the shadow of MC's first love, so he pushes the ML away repeatedly. MC tells ML that he is a "good person" (which ML replies to that it's debatable lmaoo 😂😂 ML knows himself that he's not the best human being out there) and because he is a good person, MC didn't want to hurt him by his uncertainty over his feelings.

[collapse]

I liked the 1/3 end part of the novel more than the 2/3. It really starts picking up when ML learns why MC decided to date him. You can vividly feel ML's hurt and anger, and MC's calm but resigned acceptance.
Spoiler

The way they took actual years to get back together is also reasonable, because by that time, MC is now sure of his feelings, that he will never see ML as his first love, but as ML, and ML's hurt has started to ebb away and the only thing left is pining and the wonderful feelings MC gave him. They actually started to become friends, texting first, then gradually visiting each other's apartment and then MC drags ML out one day to what ML presumes to be the mall, but no, it was to get a marriage certificate much to ML's shock and happiness lmao. They weren't even boyfriends then, much less fiances hahaha

[collapse]

This was a very satisfying read with a fairly reasonable cast. Some antagonists didn't learn and got their just desserts, while some antagonists learned and sought to reform themselves. MC and ML never hurt people who didn't deserve it, and they know each other's true faces and bad habits and decided to accept that. I think that is one of the greatest form of love, to accept the person you love despite their flaws no matter if they change or not. <<less

Unimaginable how this could get so many 1 stars...

I think the author did a wonderful job depicting MCs and (especially) MLs character development and their growing love for each other.

WARNING: may contain spoilers, read at your own risk :))

ML: First of all, maybe because this was more „seme protagonist“-ish, but it’s really rare to feel like... ML is full of life :) like he actually has personality, he’s not a full tsundere and can joke with his friends. He just... seems like a prideful, a little childish... more>> and s*upid ML who fell in love (later). Just so alive, you don’t get that a lot nowadays haha it’s mostly just Yanderes, Tsunderes or cold CEO type guys (or pure scum)

MC: regarding MC... I gotta say I couldn’t figure out his personality quite well... like... he feels like a „detached from the world“ type, but seems to have been very rebellious. Maybe it’s also his past „trauma“ that made him like this... kind of cold and calculating, even unfeeling and nonchalant. Idk what to think of his personality. He was smart but... that felt it was it

their relationship: uhm other than that I’m unsure of how exactly they fell in love or like what they like about each other, other than that, it was really a rollercoaster but one really worth it. My heart clenched so many times in the middle of their „break up“. I gotta say, I kinda wish ML suffered a little more and broke down more hahah tho that scene when he cried (?) after finding out even the dishes MC cooked were actually take out... that really hurt. Need more crying scenes haha I do think ML has visibly matured by the end of this novel and knows now how to handle MC and make him speechless. On the other hand side, MC seems to have mellowed down. I like it when he calmly smiles at ML as if he could indulge all his little antics haha

Zhao Cheng (?) my man: really that one true friend for ML, always there for him. Despite ML marking fun of him during his break up, he is always there for him when he needs him and worries about him, that he won’t give up on himself. He also seems to keep and eye on MC on social media for ML and updates him haha (tho maybe only bc he just is there)

Wen Ci: really hoped to have an innocent white moonlight who just didn’t like ML, not someone who, after not being able to face reality, started acting like a cheap villain, spouting lies and framing MC... also regarding their wedding... ???? I still didn’t get what happened, I hope though that he loves that Gao guy wholeheartedly during those years (even though then later practically forced him to divorce)

Regarding Shen Qian... oof that was smth I couldn’t really accept. Tbh, and idk if I’m the only one, but I’d rather die than being rped. And I wouldn’t wish it upon my worst enemies. Now, I had a problem with MC not interfering and instead letting the person who wanted to harm him this was get a taste of of his own medicine (literally), but I really don’t like that kid of thing happening and MCs favorability sunk a little, but only a little bc he later said he wrote Wen Ci a message but he decided to ignore it, thus neither saving Shen Qian nor potentially saving MC. So blame was kinda shifted on Wen Ci, BUT I still hoped MC could have just stopped it all together.

Zhou Xu: I- I think MC and him would have been a wonderful couple BUT even until the end... I wasn’t sure if they were dating or if MC one-sidedly liked him... ? He didn’t really say they were ever together, maybe just really close, just that MC had even deeper feelings.

All in all a good novel to read, really unexpectedly good. I especially like the way their relationship developed, so more the emotional part. Honestly the villains seemed kind of s*upid to me so that was a meh point, but I’m here for the feelz anyways~ love it <<less

this is actually my girst review on NU but I cant help myself bcs everyone has to read this book!! It was really worth it, I read it nonstop. Even read half of it in MTL (it was a painful experience to read them and cant figure out what theyre saying😭) god I just love their characters, both MC and ML have a really satisfying development.

the story is actually just like the title says; I only like your face ... more>>
Spoiler

but it applied for both of them lol

[collapse]

it was just plot twist after plot twist AND IT'S VERY THRILLINGGGGG

Spoiler

personally, I tought MM was being too harsh to HSZ because he didnt really do anything wrong, he just love too deeply and s*upidly. But well I cant really blame MM tho bcs he only did it bcs he doesnt want to give HSZ false hope.

[collapse]

Spoiler

I really love the separation arc and the way they conveyed each others feeling is just so real, I can imagine why they did what they did. Cant deny that I have a soft spot for HSZ because he is just really sweet and s*upid. They both suffered so much and deserved to be each other.

[collapse]

also it was dogblood and veryyy dramatic but it's kinda interesting to see how MM deal with them.

overall it was a good read and very recommended!! <<less

It's hard to say who's the ML and who's the MC because in a way it's dual POV. Han Shaozhou and Mo Ming have been lovers for 3-years, but from the beginning, Han told Mo that what they had was just physical (because Han saw him as a stand-in). In exchange for continuing their relationship, Han provided Mo with an allowance, gifts and resources for his acting career. However, after 3yrs, Han, who initially dated Mo because of his appearance, started to warm up to the idea of introducing Mo... more>> to his family and friends. It was funny because while Han was bragging to his friends about how much Mo loved him and couldn't live without him, as a reader, you know that the soft Mo that Han liked wasn't the real Mo. In reality, Mo was a bit cold and manipulative, which was the complete opposite of the clingy, submissive Mo he showed in front of Han. Han thought he was in complete control of Mo, so I couldn't wait for their breakup and for Mo to show his real self. I wasn't disappointed because when Han saw how unaffected Mo was by their breakup and realized that Mo had played him for so many years, he went berserk. He was outraged that Mo also saw him as a stand-in. Like breaking furniture outraged. Despite this outburst though, Han kind of had a golden retriever personality, because after he calmed down, he kept finding reasons to continue seeing Mo. I liked seeing Han fall in love with every part of Mo and chasing Mo, while Mo avoided being caught for as long as possible.

Honestly, I don't think Mo is as cold as some may think. He's not the most emotional and it takes him a while to love, but when he does, he loves hard.

Spoiler

which is evident by the fact that every action he made in book was to avenge his white moonlight

[collapse]

When he and Han made amends, and Han relentlessly chased him, the reason he didn't get back with Han was actually understandable. Mo didn't think he really liked Han, and he didn't want to continue using Han as a stand-in. While the characters were flawed, they really weren't bad people and neither of them truly wanted to hurt each other.

Spoiler

However, when Mo was sure about his feelings he jumped headfirst into the relationship and put a ring on Han's finger.

[collapse]

I think what made this book even more entertaining was the face slapping. I thought this book would just be about wife chasing, but there were secret plots and family secrets that kept you on your toes. I loved watching the characters navigate through these plots while also realizing that they loved the person in front of them and not their white moonlights. Overall, it was a surprisingly good read. <<less
