Since I entered the world of this novel, I’ve been raising the protagonist to enjoy an easy life.

But the way the protagonist looks at me is a bit strange.

The novel fails in a few ways. While we are told that this is a modern fantasy with hunters and gates, the only interaction with those fantasy elements in the entire story are in the very first and very last chapters. It feels like the author forgot about the setting itself or just didn't bother to consider how daily life in a gate-hunter universe would actually play out. The entire setting should have been reconsidered in my opinion. If you turn your brain off and forget about hunters/gates entirely then... more>> everything falls in place.

The biggest strengths are the childcare/childrearing aspects. The story is at its best when it is purely in the 'raising a daughter' phase. The author clearly planned for this to degenerate into uncomfortable territory but got cold feet by the end. This noncommittal to the romance plot is a positive change for the story overall because the faux in*estual stepmother/stepdaughter/yandere concepts that were clearly planned but got scrapped were just gross.

As a slice-of-life child raising story this falls at around a 3-4 star story. As a modern fantasy it's a 1-2 star story. As a romance/yuri it's not worth a star.

The last chapter wraps up the story but it is a rushed ending. I'm glad there was at least some closure (even if it was rushed) instead of it being another abandoned project.

99% of the story is spent with the daughter's first year of education (kindergarten). Some is spent in elementary school. There's maybe 4 chapters spent in middle school. Then there's only a few paragraphs in the last chapter that jump beyond middle school.

Overall I give the story 3 stars. It probably isn't worth reading over other options if you want the vicarious feeling of raising a child. <<less

So far its progressing nicely with the latest chapters being in the child raising arc and will transition over to gates later on (yes this is a k-hunter type, generic I know)

For a brief summary, Its about a statistically dumb? Male main character who reincarnates into the novel after dying (yes I know generic again) as a 14 year old girl with the protag (a 1 year old or so girl) and starts off in an area near a gate which got hit by missiles, eventually both of them... more>> got rescued and was originally being sent to an orphanage but MC decided to run from the rescuers and decided to raise the protag on her (Male inside btw) own so that the protagonist wont have to deal with orphanage trauma

then MC becomes a orphan teen mother with uh death insurance from her unknown family in the novel world and the story progresses nicely with basically everything laid out for her future (somehow she conveniently has a house for her with no traces of the novel family and doesn't have relatives or sorts)

So far I'm hooked into the concept but I don't really know why MC got introduced as a statistically lower iq individual at the start so 4.4/5

Also I just noticed but why the hell is Ecchi, Yuri, and Romance in the tags, I sincerely hope this goes into the way I'm thinking of

Anyway this is a nice slice of life child raising KrWN and probably the first GB child raising one, Just don't mind the plot holes <<less

There's one thing to say about the story: by the time it was about to start, it was already finished. In other words, it had great potential, but it wasn't used. The work consists of 87 chapters in total, and by chapter 60 the story suddenly rushed forward—not in the usual way, but by merely telling what happened rather than showing it. Many parts were skipped in the story, such as the hunters, the gates, the original protagonist's descent into yandere, the school years. Also, character development, the conclusion... more>> of other characters, and similar aspects were left out—things that ultimately caused the story to fall apart.

But until the middle of chapter 60, it was very good—the pacing, the plot, and the characters alike. By the way, those parts show the original protagonist's preschool years. Originally, she was supposed to become a hunter at age 15 and fight monsters, like in the original novel. This is a "reincarnated into a novel" type of story, where the main character raises the original protagonist. But the part where she would become a hunter was skipped entirely. That's why I said the story was finished before it even began.

Overall, I don't recommend reading it, because the ending will be a disappointment. <<less

This novel is very strange... As of chapter 23, it’s 90% a very cute and endearing child care novel with a struggling single mom doing her best (which is 5/5). HOWEVER, it’s the 10% that will make or break this novel.

The 10%. It starts off with the ‘mom’ pretty much kidnapping a baby for selfish reasons, justified by the fact she ‘knows’ the child will end up in an orphanage, and be harassed. Then there are the weird yandere tendencies that are cutely played off as a child’s obsession/jealousy, but... more>> there’s a pretty big chance it’ll turn weird soon. Lastly, the story keeps mentioning gates and awakeners even though they’ve had 0 presence in the story, it just feels completely unnecessary. <<less

Another great series let down by the ending... Don't get me wrong, the first 77 chapters were like 4.5/5, but the ending was one of those rush endings where the author is stopping the series so they quickly rush through all the important plot points they hadn't gotten to yet.

The setup is MC gets s**ked into one of those "Hunters/Gates in S. Korea" type novels and picks up the baby protagonist from that novel to raise her as her child and then mooch off of her guaranteed future success. Also,... more>> MC is magically MtF TS'd from a himbo to a bimbo when she gets s**ked into the novel.

Her being formerly male doesn't have really any plot relevance. It doesn't even have any bearing on her s*xual orientation because, while she isn't interested in men at all, she also never really shows any awareness towards women either, so she's basically ace, and the only two named characters that ever show any s*xual awareness are both cis lesbians so it's not like this author can't write a gay character without their gender identity being flipped. If anything, her former male identity forms a strong contrast with her current tastes and behaviors, making you picture a tall, rugged, muscly dude super in to teddy bears and magical girl anime. On the other hand, her being a bimbo has major plot relevance and her low intelligence is brought up frequently and has a real affect on her behavior.

The gate/hunter stuff is hinted at having future relevance, as the heroine (original novel's protagonist) is supposed to grow up to become the most powerful hunter in the original novel, the bulk of the story is child-rearing slice-of-life fluff while she's in kindergarten/elementary school, so it doesn't ever really come into play. They could have had the characters interact with hunters to show the dynamic between normal, unawakened people and hunters, or had the characters experience a gate invasion (beyond the one at the very start that you only see the aftermath of) or anything to reinforce the world setting and set up the heroine's future path to hunter stardom, or literally anything to justify the setting, but they just... don't.

Here's a quick summary: Dude gets s**ked into a novel about superpowered hunters and otherworldly gates full of monsters in the wreckage from the aftermath of the gate invasion that orphaned the original novel's protagonist (and in the process gets TS'd and reduced to a 14yo child). Knowing that the protagonist has a rough childhood and grows up to be rich and successful, MC decides to adopt and raise her, treating it as both protecting her from her future hardships and investing in this child to mooch off her future success. Up to about halfway through chapter 77, we get a lovely story about a much too young single mother raising a child that is way too smart for her age and has an obsessive possessiveness towards her mom. Not much of note happens, but it's very enjoyable and very cute. Then, halfway through 77, there's a sudden 5-year timeskip out of nowhere and we get 10 chapters of
    Spoiler

the author speed-running the relationship shift between the protagonist and MC from a closer-than-most mother/daughter pair to a yandere daughter taking advantage of her mother's obliviousness to sexually harrass her. It's unclear whether their relationship actually progresses into a romantic one, especially with the inclusion of the protagonist's friend who also harbors attraction towards MC. In the final chapter, the three of them are living together but their relationship with one another is left ambiguous.

It is just as the other reviews say. It's pretty slice of life and no trace of the hunters at all. I completely forgot that was even a think until I reread the reviews.

Anyway, normally, I would like these casual novels but just can not take any more of Mc's childishness.

They adore things that children normally should, and the child themselves have to make an excuse to have the MC buy it for their use. Not to mention the MC is kinda s*upid as well.

It just grew annoying for me,... more>> but maybe others wouldn't mind as much. <<less
