The FL MC, Scyllia, is a paladin and one of the strongest in the continent. Unfortunately she has been cursed since birth (not that many details) but it gives her immense pain randomly on her left shoulder and she has seizures from how painful it is. She gets the fox (a cub) and is told to raise it for a year to prevent it from becoming evil, because she can influence it to be good.

It's fascinating to see them raised together because the fox yokai is, essentially, a mature-and-traumatized tween who is finally learning to open up and trust others, while the werewolf is absolutely a hyper little kid who loves EVERYTHING and gains maturity -after- reaching adulthood. Having to tame a younger brother for the heroine's sake did a fair bit to help stabilize the fox yokai, who was born with a fair amount of maturity and well-honed instincts in the first place since his mother was a thousand-year-old celestial spirit fox.

I am not someone who guesses plotlines easily, preferring to unplug my brain and enjoy the ride, but it was a fair easy guess that the MC was the true saint and her power was being siphoned off to give credibility to the fake saint, Iris. Once the Guardians to the Saint discover the MC and guess her condition, they pretty much glue themselves to her and protect her as the plot continues to unfold.

The fox yokai is just as clueless as our MC when it comes to romance so, after MUCH pestering, one of the Guardians who is particularly close to animals has to plainly point out to him that the "thirst" he feels towards the MC is of seduction and possession. He's shocked but adjusts quickly. Both animal Guardian and the strategist Guardian point out that he's imprinted on her and will need to get her used to the idea in stages since her own trauma caused her to wall off all emotions. This is a slow-burn that happens over time but, as with everything in the plot, speeds up after a certain point.

It's hinted that MC is the supposed saintess to be, and not the current one. It's because of this that I think that's why ML's companion/dated human is her, cause well, he is a 900 year fox, so obviously he deserves someone equal to his rank. New person introduced, Vio the wolf. Not giving second lead vibes, thank god, more like a brother to the MC and ML and refreshing addition.

Poor MC got isolated and bullied because of the scar on her shoulder and her struggles during pain, only to realise 23 years later that it's suppose to symbolise the next saintess. She only lets in ML and the world because she believes and knows they are like her; abandoned/hated/cursed by everyone, so she knows how they feel and thus accepts them. It's heart wrenching to read her pain.
