One of my most aniticipated novels this year. The story isn't too complicated with just the right amount of cuteness, sadness, and mystery behind the situation.

So what's the story? Our main character is a gamer who likes to play simulation games tht involves taking care of something. One day, he stumbles upon an unpopular game and he immediately fell in love with it. The game is about the king who had just lost his queen and tries to raise his young daughter "Snow White" until she ascends the throne. The... more>> main villainess is the stepmother, Vivian who tries to kill her during the progression of the story.

The game was known to be difficult yet our MC played the game until he reached the true ending..... But turns out, there are other endings that are known only to the few people. Too tired, MC fell asleep and one day woke up..... in the middle of a funeral of a certain stepmother.....

Yes, as you have guessed, he possessed Vivian, the "Witch" and the stepmother of Snow White. What happened? What do you think will MC do next?

The novel focuses on how Vivian (our MC) tries to improve her relationship to Snow White as she is the key to her survival (since the original Vivian died by the hands of Snow White). Not only that, but MC also has to handle the changes in the original plot and make her way to the end while making sure that Snow White grows properly.

Vivian, our MC, has a rather straight-forward goal of surviving throughout the end. But her character shines the brightest when Snow White is involved. Our MC tries her best to show love and affection and helps her grow as a person. Next would be Snow White...... all I can say is that she's very lovely, and that she deserves the love and affection that she truly deserved.... Talking more would be a great spoiler.

Story progression is good, it isn't too fast or too slow which helps the readers avoid being bored. The plot is easy to follow and the overall layout of the story is managed properly by the author. Though the story is at the early stages, that doesn't mean that it eill lose its charm in the future chapters.

In conclusion:

- a unique take on the mother and daughter relationship

- progression of the story is good

- a straight-forward MC

- an easy-to-follow plot

10/10 a great novel read <<less

Ladies and gentlemen m, this right here, is a prime example of something interesting railroading... Hard and I do mean HARD.

Suffice to say,

DO NOT READ THIS FOR IT'LL USAGI DROP YOU.

... more>> Usagi Drop is a reference to an amazing slice of life manga about a father and adopted daughter working their ways through childhood and parenthood.

Before the author decided to say, "f*ck YOU." and made the ADULT MAN be together with HIS ADOPTED DAUGHTER.

The only difference here? The father has been replaced by a step-mother.

I refuse to dedicate character building, plot points and world building sections HOWEVER, I shall deliver a TLDR as per usual.

Similar to Usagi Drop, the beginning chapters were cute, fluffy and overall amazing since it was dedicated between the relationship (PARENTAL, YOU HEAR THAT AUTHOR? PARENTAL BOND) snow white and MC.

After a couple of more chapters, digressed into something so toxic I need a hazmat suit to even dare approach, not that I will EVER approach it.

I'll stop dodging and actually list down all the points as to why I will never recommend this even to my worse enemies,

(Obvious spoiler warning but take it with a grain of salt since I haven't touch this novel for a year now. Hashtag... Whatever... #Followme...)

First off the hit list is the planet size red flag in the room, the bond between Snow White and MC. If you haven't gotten it from earlier, half through... Around chapter 70+? The relationship who should have been PURELY PLATONIC, turned romantic however one-sided it is on Snow White's part HOWEVER, there was no reason whatsoever to make this conscious decision. Doesn't help that EVERYONE in the novel enabled and allows this behaviour and feelings to fester in the little girl despite the very clear attempts to defuse this by the MC. Oh, right, have I mentioned you that partway into the story Snow White becomes a sicko yandere who kidnapped the MC? Sounds very healthy and great AUTHOR. There is one scene that I can vividly recall is that the MC gets drugged while taking care of Snow White, which she jokes around with before the two share an accidental kiss in which the MC plays off however, Snow White internalized it due to another folk showing a book or something, I don't know, brain fog and refusal to reread this so... Grain of salt, call me as salty as the sea. Mind you, THIS WAS NOT NEEDED OTHER THAN A SETUP FOR THE ROMANTIC RELATIONSHIP WHICH SHOULDN'T BE A FOCUS. AT ALL.

Second hitlist, the overall theme. Without any warnings, you'd think this would be a cute and fluffy story about someone finding solace in taking care of a child, WRONG. As like before, everything went downhill after almost half way through the story which suddenly cuts to a psychological horror, trauma, toxic, abusive and definitely twisted story... The king and queen? Oh, you know. The classic of them being so madly in love that they refuse to part even in death and so the queen devised a plan to forever torture the king so that they'll be together, abandoning Snow White as the King rots in his bedroom, everyone ignoring the very ABSENCE of the man, despite needing him to run the kingdom. Sometimes I wonder how it's still standing but I guess long live social workers and workers in general.

Just the pure enabling of behaviours and the obvious romanticism of the world to behavior exhibited by Snow White. Aww, Snow White! You carry that knife so cutely, cut with it so cutely and torture it so cutely for your beloved, have a good sticker, do a little dance even. Everyone knows it's wrong, it's horrible, and it's downright terrifying. Yet, no one does anything against it other than, "Ah, well... She's the princess..." Or the classic, "Aha, such a goof... Silly jokes!". Hell, they even help in such behaviour, rather than be responsible adults. It's like the author plays dolls as realistic in the first half before unable to take it anymore and suddenly had the urge to uphold their fantasy that had to be followed. The only one that actually tries something was the MC and even then, she carries the same resolve as the others since as the STRONG and CAPABLE and KNOWLEDGEABLE adult, "Snow White... Nooo..."

Take everything I said with so much salt, call me the entire mines since I'd admit, this is carried by emotions but hear me out, the reason why I didn't praise it like The Society's Pet is because of one thing, how it presented itself. It was supposed to be as I said so many times before, a fluffy story with light hearted elements despite its premise. If it was as clear as that upfront, I'd have no problems since it is what it has advertised but it's not. Hell, I'd probably praise on SOME parts because I do see reason behind why some actions happened, why consequences happened (which is a desert with how bare it is) and why certain people acted how they did BUT that doesn't excuse earlier problems I brought up. Maybe they got addressed, maybe not. Overall? I don't think you need to find out, spend your time reading something better than this.

I know this is longer than a what a TLDR supposed to be but oh well, your problem, not mine.

TLDR: Just... Don't read it, it's not worth it. Maybe the first 50 chapters or so, otherwise? Drop it. It's not worth your comfort nor enjoyability. Unless you're into this, no shame... I'm just gonna judge you, sicko. <<less

I figured I would read thru the mtl version (130 chapters as of story) to see more of the story past what's posted.

The story is ok somewhat as an MC tries to be a loving mother to not fall into the fatal ending of the story, but as the story progresses, MC finds that the story is not always following the same as the story from the game or previous life, but Author tends to make bad plot points at times in the story that were only added to create... more>> conflicts, but there reasons should have been easy for MC to do it a different way, but author made them take the worst way that makes them seem s*upid.

Tags Gender Bender:
Spoiler

This story seems more like MC was already a women in real live, because MC goes from man to women with Zero issues & no real story points of adjusting to being a women suddenly.

Yuri:
Spoiler

Somewhat Yuri stuff not till about 65 chapter, but it's more of a drunk attempt by noble wives on the drunk queen (MC) but it goes no where. As for MC Yuri"?", she is acting like a women with no connections to men or women in intimacy. MC does not have lover feelings for the adoptive princess (thou she has a couple weird dreams of the future being chained & the princess forcing kisses), most of MC contact with the princess is more like a overly loving mother caring for her daughter (trying to stay on her good side so she is not killed by the princess). Only a misunderstanding by the 10 year old snow white later that caused the princess to have unusual feelings she does not understand at that age, since one of the noble wife's daughter shared an adult romance book with the princess & she doesn't understand some of the words & confuses the drunk MC being a playful step-mother with an accidental kiss on the lips. Later it is still the adoptive daughter who is the one with feelings for the MC, but other then her stealing a kiss from a sleeping mother & few other kisses she asks for that MC took as being a loving mother spoiling her cute daughter, nothing really happens.

The interaction with what I'm guessing is the main villainess....
Spoiler

A time traveling snow white from different time lines who died 30+ times but currently in this attempt to protect the princess without knowing that a transmigrated MC is in the body of the one she hates & is seeking revenge on, but she doesn't understand why her counterpart (princess) is not in the same bad situation as she was originally in & why the MC is not as evil as before

[collapse]
.... of the story is at times kind of weird. Author does one part of the story & after it flashes back to bring up what lead to the interaction.

Near the last current chapter we see issues with one of the s*upid plot points added earlier.
Spoiler

I mean why does the MC have to leave the capitol? Sure she made a deal to stay longer in the castle after the kings death to raise the princess and have to give up being the Queen & leave the castle once the princess came back from the academy because the nobles thinks she is a witch & they do not want to support her as a queen, but there was no real reason to leave the area & still be near her adoptive daughter & still have interactions. Once the Princess became the queen, she would have the right to bring the mother back into the castle.

I would have enjoyed it if it's purely a parent-child relationship, but really... Why does it have to be an immoral relationship between a mother and a daughter? Not my cup of tea, it's too poisonous for me.
