I Rely on Kisses to Clear Survival Games

Cheng Zhi Chu was pulled into an infinite stream of horror games. If he didn’t clear them, he would die.

But can someone tell him why others clear the games using violence and force but his method of clearing the game is by kissing the boss?!

Cheng Zhi Chu: I am a straight man. Even if I kill myself or am killed by monsters, I will not kiss the boss!

Boss: Be good. Kiss me and I’ll let you go.

Bai Yi had been trapped in the game for many years.

Rather than exploding in anger in the silence, he had turned crazy. And so…….he split himself. His soul was broken into many pieces and each of them became the boss in the games.

But, regardless of how the soul was split, from the beginning to the end there was one thing that didn’t change —–He, likes Cheng Zhi Chu.

Every fragment of his soul was utterly in love with him.

It was also because of this that he and every fragment of his couldn’t stand seeing people other than himself getting close to Cheng Zhi Chu —- Even if the other party used to be a part of himself.

Dark desire gradually surged inside him.

Anyone who gets between him and Cheng Zhi Chu——even if it’s himself —– he would kill them all.

“The person who you should really kiss……is me.”

I love it. If I compare to I wasn't born lucky, it lacks comedy but I love it even more. I was filled with anxious on the first 2 instance. The was the romance proceed in this story despite being a horror genre. Was smooth and brought satisfaction. The only downside is the fact that ML has tons of soul. I could relate to the MC a lot in this novel. The ML may be a yandere stalker. But well more like I love that. He maintain respect to the... more>> MC.

Like in most world hopping genre, ML exist in all of the world. In this novel It is the ML soul fragments. My favourite of them from the start was the guy in the hospital. But it wasn't enough to make me interested in shipping with MC. Then we met Su Ling. Rather than love I do ship them but only for the purpose of wanting to make him happy. The one that took the cake surprisingly was Joshua. Let me tell you, I have bad experience with a guy name Joshua. And in the novel I was unsettled by him as well. He scares me using the concept of 'dying as a foetus' Then in that one chapter nearing the end of the official chapter, he sweep most reader's heart and I immediately had second lead syndrome for him. Side note I also started liking another soul near the end of the extras chapter. SLEEP GOD! Im a simple women.

ML soul become one and they become married. Just like MC, I was happy they join... but also very sad that we couldn't see the others anymore.

This is a classic Stolkohm syndrome. ML did not kidnap or ab*se MC. but his soul fragment did.... almost kill him. So face the truth people. He still love them. He love every aspect of ML including them. <<less

This story is so gooddddd. I like everything except giving a well not a love rival, I really felt bad for the guys who liked the MC that is not the ML (not the bai yis). They all have good intention and it would have felt better if they did something really bad. So I think it was really unnecessary. But that's just maybe me pet peeveing. This is really a must read.

At first, I was very excited reading this; the premise sounded interesting, the translation was good, and it was basically a well written, sexier version of "to be a heartthrob in a horror movie", a novel that was severely underwhelming. The"escape game" setting made more sense, and gave a real sense of danger. The instances themselves are good, and I can say that those are the strong point of the story. But as we begin to explore the overarching plot of the story, we can see that the author bit... more>> off more that they could chew and kinda made it up as they went.

Spoiler

For example, we find out that bai yi's soul was fragmented and became various bosses, and that the reason for that AND his original mu*derer was Mr. Mu. Generally when the villain behind it all is discovered, that builds up to the climax, that would be defeating him, but the author didn't want to write that, so she killed him lmao. Also when they went to the origins of why bai yi liked MC, they created that serial killer things, which was well developed, but the start of it all was that bai yi liked him before that, he appeared in his dreams? Which seems important because, yknow, is the foundation of his "like" and the thing that made him a target for the psycho, but it's never developed. And many more cases

[collapse]
. So the story has a lot of weird parts that were clearly building up to something, but didn't lead to anything, and I wouldn't even call them plot holes, because everything was given an explanation, but you can tell that they were last minute thoughts. If I were the author, I would finish what I started and tie everything up in an intricate way, or don't even start make those convoluted side plots. Main couple is also very 2d.

It is impossible to not notice this, but instances are so well done and the writing is so comedic and charming that I can still say I liked it <<less

Very very funny story that you need to read if you like very OP and possessive ML and a cute but not dumb MC.

Each instance / game is really well built and the overall story is especially well written. It has still some "gruesome" (I'm including the "" because it is not THAT gruesome but there can be some description that could make some sensible people feel uneasy at most maybe), but the interactions between the ML and everyone who stands a little bit too close to the MC is... more>> soooooo funny!

Spoiler

For example, during one game, there is a teddy bear who is a real devil and can kill a player in one swing, then proceed to eat it. But the doll is very still afraid of the ML who wants to kill it before the teddy bear (I'll call it TB) attacks MC. And to survive the ML's wrath, TB just calls MC "mommy" and the ML "daddy", and the ML does a 180° change of mind and adopts TB, calling it their child and all. It made me laugh sooo hard!!!

[collapse]

Anyway, a real funny story. I laughed so many times I really recommend it. Though be aware of some parts that can make sensitive ppl uneasy (it is very light imo tho) because of the Yandere character and the gore tag. <<less

This novel is really cute and fluffy. And I like the way the author wrote about the gory scenes vividly.

MC is timid and cute, a total bottom who refuse to admit it. I kinda pity some of ml's fragment soul because MC don't like some of them. Unlike game loading, MC there accepted ML wholeheartedly. No matter what form he takes or what personality he possess.

But what I like about this novel is how the author is kind to MC not to let him suffer so much dillema since his... more>> mission is not to please the soul in order for it to return and just kissed it. If not, thinking about the violent personality of ML with self harm, then it can only be war. And adding the MC's timidity and s*upidity he won't be able to finish any mission despite ML love for him.

So, like like like this novel for its mildness in dog blood plot. But pity for ML who always got tortured. Ml's soul fragments back story is extremely sad, I cried multiple times reading their story. Specially the one who became teacher Zhou, Su ling too. They all suffered. (。•́︿•̀。) I like ml's family their really cute. And ml's cousin who can kill at will has a potential to be a yandere candidate. (。ノω\。) Over all, this novel is great, fun and fluffy. It's cute to the bones. Very recommended. <<less

I prefer reading quick transmigration novels and haven't touched a bl novel like this in a long while. I took interest in this novel bc it had two things that appealed to me: 1) It was a horror genre based novel and 2) Yes I also chose it bc it was similar to world hopping (however the MC can return to his world between these game worlds). After a few of MC going through these games, I found this novel was both equally vivid in horror and bl themes (there's... more>> our shou who keeps insisting he's straight (initially ;)) and the possessive and powerful going who only has eyes for our MC). I was a little frustrated to be honest with how slow the romance was developing at first (but that's just me since I'm so used to the quick 10 to 20 chapters of developing romance in bl QT). However I persisted reading to the end and OML yes you won't regret. The translator had said it will eventually be an HE and that's what kept me going and I am 100% glad I did. The romance does pick up and then when the plot and mysteries are unveiled you become s**ked straight in. You'll be finding yourself in questions and dog food and vinegar and a lot of laughter (despite the horror elements). I don't want to reveal much but if you can handle some horror descriptions and are looking for some bl with game elements, some type of world hopping (but theres one consistent world and ML), a MC who actually falls for the ML too but doesn't realize that the ML likes him from the start, or just a different bl book in general, then definitely read it. Also the diary entries of the ML at the end of every chapter makes the novel 1000x better xD <<less

I love this novel. This is mixing horror and romantic. All instances quite good and as for me sad. For example arc in hospital with boy and ghost really touched me.

Their relationship developing slowly but MC from the beginning has good impression and attitude for ML. ML is quite cute I all time laughed at his notes. I like moment when MC realizes his feels but thinks that it is not mutual while ML thinks same and afraid to confess. This is amusing heh.

It has many fun moments.... more>> MC's luck so bad but he has many interesting things. He even has teddy bear who can be clever and useful. He also consider MC and ML as his parents.

Also it nicely to see when MC trying to flatter and flirt with souls but ML is much jealously and he is like a big jar of vinegar haha. Also extras it's something.

I love them, their interaction fluffy and sweet. <<less

Firstly, thanks to the translator for choosing this novel. The translation is superb.

MC is kinda Gary Stu. He's a typical sweet, cute and kind shou. I really enjoyed most of the dialogues between MC and the system. (The system is so snarky. lol)

ML is callous to the extreme about others. He cares only about the MC. The possessive and pampering gong we love reading about.

... more>> Now the story...

Story starts a bit abruptly but gets better quickly. Some of the arcs are really gory while some are tragic. The hospital and school are real tear-jerkers.

Overall a good read. The story itself is good and the translation is the icing on the cake.

I enjoyed reading this. <<less

A rather cute story that ostensibly has a mystery, which is rather casually solved during the course of the novel. The main focus is how the main character is bent and juggles the interactions with the fragments of his love. There aren't many surprises during the novel, some of the descriptions are rather gruesome, and everything progresses with a candyfloss sweetness. Some of the side stories are rather sweet. The online translation of this book is done very well and reads smoothly.

I loved this story, it’s not too long or too short, you get to meet all the different sides of the ML throughout the book, The MC is adorable and the different stories it tells can be touching, funny, sad, terrifying. This book truly has it all (for me in any case).

It’ll probably be a little lacking for fluff lovers, but if you like horror then I feel that the creepiness replaces your need for fluff haha I mean I always love fluff, but I also love horror so I... more>> can make a few exceptions for lack of fluffiness ? <<less

REGRETFUL. It only has 90 chapters with 9 extrass.. I want more. The story was too good. The mystery and clues you wanted to search. The drama. I wanted to see 186 (?) fragments collected by MC and ML ~ should have extended it. Wu~

I like the plot though some arcs are good, the story is still shallow (probably bcoz it is fastwear). Though, there r discrepancies, I don't have a problem with the story especially the Arc 3 ? that story is really... Sad ?

Probably the thing that disappointed me is the MC. For the ML, although he's a little blood thirsty, it's okay. And I love reading his diary ?

A very funny, lovely, & dramatic read.

There's comedic undertone so it's not that much of a horror novel, only using the pressure of those scary scenes as a boost to the story. Like icing on top of a cake.

Spoiler

MC is a young boy that's forced by a system to enter a game and clear it by kissing the bosses. Some deep kissing scenes, well, most are deep. The main ML appears in the 2nd round as Bai Yi, a "player" too and helps MC to clear that round in the game. At that time, main ML already loves MC but acts as one of the players there to get closer to MC. Later, he helps in some of the other rounds, while others, MC has to clear himself.

[collapse]

Spoiler

My favorite parts are when MC has to struggle to kiss more than one boss in one round without the other boss finding out, or at least try to. Poor mc~

The ending was funny and very touching. Loved it a lot. <<less

I've read a lot of webnovels now so I'm writing brief reviews to help myself remember :)

What I remembered most:

    • kind of a pathetic shou but I loved him and his whole thing was this funny, pathetic way of solving the instances so it worked
    • REALLY COOL horror instances
    • yandere yandere yandere yandere yandere
    • the only confusing part was
      Spoiler

near the final arc but before the extras

      [collapse]
, other than that the other "pieces" of ML are well-characterized and explained
    • it's just so satisfying to watch this MC slowly uncover pieces of his past and the truth alongside these obsessive yandere versions of ML
    • unique unlimited flow instances, especially in the extras!! Hehe you know what I'm talking about, with the
      Spoiler

      mermaid/tentacle

      extra (/ *)
Why I liked this:

    • it's like if your favorite character got to experience tons of yandere AU versions of his partner
    • really compelling instances though not all of them got the same amount of exposure
    • heart-pounding action because it was never as simple as "just kiss the boss", there was some logic MC had to follow and definitely some impending peril
    • confusing at points with regards to the "true" timeline and what actually happened versus what was the MC's alternate memory

I was pleasantly surprised by this book, especially for the thriller and horror elements.

In my experience, authors writing thriller usually go super hard on suspence and don't pay much attention to gore, while authors writing horror swim in pools of blood but don't frame them very suspencefully. This author found the right balance. There's blood eveywhere but they still retained a good amount of suspence. I was very pleased with this. Until chapter 90ish I though that tor the most part this book in fact reads as a well-balanced horror/romance... more>> story. However around chapter 90ish the author must have realized that they had sprinkled a little bit of romance here and there and it wasn't enough to tie up the ending nicely, so they dumped a LOT of romance towards the end. This in my opinions cheapened the experience.

But I didn't give 4/5 just for the sudden increase in romance, but mainly because of the way romance was written. The MC is typical -100 IQ internalized h*mophobia fretful white lotus and ML is typical tyrant yandere. It's fine, they're fine, they stay in character, whatever. But if you want to make the romance plot relevant you need to make me feel the growth and development of tender feelings and later, eventually, sensual/s*xual feelings. Going from the MC being scared, then feeling protected and safe around ML, being fascinated by ML, pitying ML, and finally loving ML doesn't cut it for me. Why does he love the ML? They're not evenly matched in anything but sheer bad luck in the end. Smarts, emotions, skills, they're so different from each other and they're keeping so many secrets from each other for so long of the story, I feel like they barely know each other by the end they've made out for the umpteenth time. And it's not like two protagonists needs to be similar for me to feel romance, thinking about Global Examination MC and ML have opposite EQ but their initial bickering and posturing created believable s*xual tension. Another example, FOG's main couple are also polar opposite but they work together for the same goal and the shared struggles bring them together. In this story the MC truly struggles alone twice, once against the painter and another against Winter Branch, and in both instances he's basically working with a safety net (the ML), while the ML never struggles at all. There's no room for the main couple to struggle and grow closer with one another.

This is to say that the lack of well-developed chemistry between the leads makes the romance sub-plot fall flat, although the very well-written thriller/horror parts make up for it imo, so I still feel like recommending this novel. <<less

I LOVE IT SM!!!

I feel like most of the negative reviews are from people who aren’t familiar with BL.

Horror Elements: 10/10

The psychological horror aspect was good. There also wasn’t an excessive amount of gore. Really well done.

Romance: 9/10

-1 point for the reason why ML fell in love with MC

They both really really love each other and it shows. I enjoyed reading it.

Translation: 10/10

It was very easy to understand and the grammar was good to kudos to the translator.

Thanks for reading and have a good day! ❤️
