I Ruined the Long Ao Tian Script

Xu Shulou dreams she’s a character in a bizarre storybook.

The male lead is Long Aotian, a man with a “Dragon Overlord” script: treasures fall into his lap, beauties vie for his heart.

The first heroine is his delicate junior apprentice sister. The second, the Demon Sect’s saintess. The third… the fourth…

Where does Xu Shulou rank? She flips through the plot and realizes—despite being Long Aotian’s official fiancée, she’s nothing but a disposable pawn.

In the story, her sect elders dote on her fragile junior sister.

“Shulou, yield this treasure to your sister. She’s weaker and needs it more.”

“Shulou, don’t be unreasonable. Your gentle sister deserves care.”

Even Long Aotian prefers the junior sister. He’s a flirtatious mess, forcing Xu Shulou to compete with other women, her jealousy twisting her into a villain. Meanwhile, the junior sister blossoms into a pristine lotus.

But Xu Shulou refuses to play along.

When the script demands she and her junior sister be kidnapped, Long Aotian saves the “weaker” girl, saying, “Shulou, you’re stronger—you’ll understand.”

In reality? Long Ao Tian arrives just in time to see Xu Shulou slaughter the villains, scoop her sister into her arms, and vanish into the sky—without sparing him a glance.

When demons attack, the story expects Long Aotian to leave his fiancée and lovers in the sect’s care. The elders protect only the junior sister, letting Xu Shulou be humiliated.

In reality? The elders sneer: “Our senior sister dominates the cultivation world. Why would we need you to worry about her?”

When the story’s Long Aotian coaxes the Demon Saintess into betraying her clan for him…

In reality, the Saintess timidly asks Xu Shulou: “You’re a righteous heroine. I’m a hunted demon. Why would you want to befriend me?”

In the script, Xu Shulou claws at other women in jealous rage.

In reality, she’d rather live in peace—until Long Aotian pushes too far. Then she draws her sword.

In the story, Long Aotian reigns supreme, surrounded by beauties.

In reality, Xu Shulou steals his allies, hoards his treasures, and occasionally beats him up—while he sulks.

“My sword saves the world and shields the innocent. It’s not for fighting over men.”

“See? Dreams lie. I’m the one holding the Dragon Overlord script.”

An comfy novel to read with slice of life vibes. Though the premise makes it seem like it is about a heroine taking control of the protagonists halo it's really a novel about the small things. There's no grand plot or anything, no world ending evil to vanquish, just a heroine enjoying her life. There are also various small plot lines to make it more interesting like journeys to villages, taking cruise ships through the sky and the occasional mystery to be solved.

If you want to read something fun and... more>> relaxing this is it. Definitely not a typical cultivation read. <<less

This story lures you in with the face-slapping revenge story synopsis then hits you with the life lessons.

I love love love the MC's mindset. Perhaps I've read too many tr*sh novels where the "wise immortals" are just petty children, but the MC is really a breath of fresh air. This is what cultivation should be; where raising one's mental state is as important if not more so than improving one's power. In fact, so far I don't even know how strong the MC is because she's never had to reveal... more>> it, and I don't really care. I want more to explore the MC's mind and philosophy than whatever random techniques she picked up in her centuries of life.

There's a moment in the story that I really loved which prompted me to make this review,
Spoiler

and it's the scene where the MC talks to the granddaughter of the man who mu*dered her family. In my opinion, that scene is one of the best showcases of what a cultivator should be. It's such a brilliant showcase of the growth the MC went through over the pre-canon years and also amazing in the amount of background tone-setting it does in just a short period of time.

I loved that scene so much I had to write this review.

At this current point in time, this is a 5/5 story for me. <<less

This is an excellent novel about a strong female protagonist going through her life, teaching her junior sister, defeating evil, and idly pondering how it's possible for her to become the her in her dreams. I really enjoyed it. The "original FL" in the script, rather than an antagonist, becomes a beloved junior sister, playing a bigger role than the "original ML", who... doesn't become a villain, but just a character resigned to his fate and a little exasperated every time he's pushed to the forefront by side characters to... more>> "deal with his fiance". There's a touch of a love interest, but it's a bit like ships passing in the night, although they pass through a handful of times without really intersecting long.

The story is a slice of life, but just a tad bit more exciting with an air of mystery until we realize what actually happened to change the script. There are, of course, some absurd moments, but the one scene that really made me raise my eyebrows was one after the main story was over already.

Anyway, this is a great story if you're tired of reading about a MC and the original FL being enemies. The ones here, you could say they're platonic soulmates, each changing the other's fate.

Genuinely curious about the people who give this one a low vote... <<less
