When Viscount Ascham’s House’s eldest daughter, Adele von Ascham, became 10 years old, she remembered everything with an intense headache.

Her previous self, Kurihara Misato, 18 years old Japanese, lost her life when trying to help a young girl, and then she met God…

A somewhat capable person burdened by the many expectations of the surrounding people, Misato, who couldn’t live as she wanted, pleaded to God.

“In the next life, please make my abilities average!”

Yet, somehow the story is wrong!

The girl with 3 names, being careful to not accidentally become a S-rank hunter, lives normally.

I mean, I’m just an average, common girl. No, seriously.

This is a good read when you're desperate. It was fun at first but there's really no thrill or excitement when the MC is clearly going to breeze through life. Her main struggle is figuring out how to act as someone average. She fails on acting, and from then on, you won't really know what her goals are. It would be fine if the ultimate goal is friendship or something cheesy but I don't enjoy the interactions. They're unfunny, pushy, whiny, and just annoying. There are no situations to redeem... more>> that by showing their personal principles, nothing to move you. It's easier to just think of them, MC included, as NPCs. It's sad. I'll read this again someday when there are more chaps to see if there's any character development.

Story has potential, nothing unforgivable or irredeemable. Keeping my hopes up. <<less

The story are good with Adel did't do everythink and depend on her party mate with Adel do something that they cannot do (Like storage & enemy search). The Hunter story good with "Red Oath" doing Difficult Quest with record 100% success until I wonder why they are still C rank.

Spoiler

The story get a disappointment after Red Oath left the capital (ch 120) because they only solve the social problem in their journey. The most epic arch are around ch 110 when Red Oath meet with Ancient Dragon and get defeated not until Adel got berserk and defeat 3 Ancient Dragon.

So until around chapter 120, the story still good but after that, you can left this novel. <<less

It's so much fun to read! Well actually the first few chapters are kind of a drag establishing the setting. But once that's done it's all about this mega-OP girl trying to act 'normal' and offending / terrifying / befriending everyone she meets along the way.

This novel for me is the definition of someone holding a delicious treat in front of your face and swinging it around on a fishing rod but never actually getting it.

I won't go around saying the general stuff, just my major issues resulting in my review score. There are plenty others that describe the main features.

There are some really cool plot points that I actually would have liked to see - for example, inner conflict in the Vow, Mile having to choose between the Vow and the Wonder Trio, Mile choosing whether or not to make the Vow op etc..

The only problem I have with all of those plot points is that the author never actually follows up on everything. Everytime something sick might be established and we might getting some character development, the author just says "haha you thought" to our faces and never actually giving it. The biggest BS I see is at the end of volume 13 where Marcela and the others just randomly get these super op powers one chapter from Mile and then nothing still happens. Probably will next book, but they only used like 10 pages to do that and these was roughly no dialogue anyway.

Even the stuff with the Brandel Kingdom and their king and princess chasing Mile would have been fun, but when we thought we could have seen something relating to it in V5 there's nothing there leaving only disappointment. I'm sure something might happen later on, just don't know if I'll stay there for that long.

Even though Mile has cool stuff that might happen, it never does. Ofc nothing is finished yet, these things should just happen in the next few volumes after for a good story telling experience at least for me.

[collapse]

So yeah, basically the novel can build a nice premise, with something that might happen like with the Wonder Trio but then the author just spits in the reader's face and doesn't change anything.

Another problem I have is with the characters. Mainly, I very much prefer the Wonder Trio side of things to the Vow side, so V13 gave me an even bigger kick in the balls. The Vow basically get zero character development. There is some mini training arcs etc, even chapters where they try working without Mile and being useless, but afterwards they just say "hah, you thought" and go back to working using Mile's op bs powers. The characters even after 13 volumes can roughly be described with their dreams and their personalities can be described basically in 2 words (Just try doing it for a moment, I bet it's very easy.)

The comedy is eh? It's good but the problem I have with it again is that nothing happens. Let's take the Dr. Clairia chasing the Vow as a fun sketch. The problem I have with it again is that nothing happens. Wouldn't you think too that having Dr. Clairia join the vow on the premise of wanting to study Mile in secret while Vow allow it to get access to all the information she has. No? Author doesn't think so? Sadge. There's plenty of people I would have wanted to see join the Vow. Take Leatoria as an example, we could have had some sick character development and her joining and having a hard time at first but then learning through effort. Instead we get the fishing rod spun around in our face but then nothing happening with her. Same sort of thing with the Wonder Trio stuff.

NOTHING HAPPENS. PLEASE, IVE WASTED 2 WEEKS OF MY LIFE ON THIS JUST TO SEE NOTHING HAPPEN ARGH

And if someone wants to complain that nothing shouldn't happen because it's a comedy and not a serious novel, there are plenty of comedies out there where something still happens and the author doesn't spit in your face at the end.

If you want my honest opinion on whether to start it, I'd say yes, because there is actually some really cool sh*t at the start. The only thing I see happening though is you wanting to drop it after 7-8 novels, but thats not for me to decide. If you want a novel where something happens and op powers are there that is sort of similar, go read Seventh Daughter. <<less

I just want to write a review on how amazing this novel is. I heard many reviews saying that one translator made the chapters torturous to read. I read the official LNs, so I don't really know how bad it really is but I want people to give this a try. It's hilarious and although the MC and her party can be idiots at times, everything works out in the end. It's an entertaining slice of life that doesn't include much of the usual Japanese foodie chapters which I hate... more>> (And I think most people agree with me. Who wants 10 chapters of finding ingredients and making food? *cough* I Shall Survive Using Potions *cough*) Anyways, give this a try or just read the official translations. The author also has another work called I Shall Survive Using Potions and it's amazing too. It's good until... Vol 3 I think. (Kinda Spoiler: It's good until the part where she leaves the country to go to a country far away just to get fish. She wanted seafood.) That was boring and kind of torturous for me to read. Anyways, I'm the type of person who thinks I've Been Killing Slimes For 300 Years And Maxed Out My Level is boring. Many might not agree with me on that and I'm just going on a rant.

Main Point: PLEASE GIVE THIS NOVEL A CHANCE <<less

I just can’t read this, it is too silly. Is it supposed to be funny ?

Mainly I don’t understand this Japanese trope of extremely talented gorgeous people having no friends because everyone else thinks they aren’t good enough. When has this ever happened ? Ever ? Just ridiculous.

The character of the MC is too silly, I just couldn’t.

Also, make the nano-machines create several gold coins or just the products you need, obviously. There, monetary issues solved.

This is so s*upid. At first I thought it would be a slice of life then its suddenly become an adventure. Also another s*upid no killing rule for all main character even though many people died. The author won't let the main character kill someone while so many unimportant character got killed. Even though it was intended to be a comedy but for one hundred chapter I only laugh about 2-3 time. The main character have a tragic backstory but it was forgotten later on. I'm so confused why the... more>> author create a no killing novel for MC but let so many people died. Maybe about hundreds of people have died in 109 chapter, and I bet the number would still increase to reach a thousand. Good novel but weak impact

Good for little giggling but not a worthy read

Its fun at first

... more>> But it starting to become not fun when all the MC companion is getting arrogant on later chapter

So basically eveeyone that get in touch in MC receive boost in capability so high that it even go outside the standard by tenfolds or even more

The worst is the side chara become to thinks that they can do anything they want now they are very strong especially the arcs after they graduate

I literally drop it even after I alr come this far, tbh I a big fan for series weitten by funa but this time I cant even like it even I force myself to like it <<less

Welp. It's mainly a comedy story. Even the more 'serious' parts turns out to be funny or not treated seriously. The author is clearly making the characters (Mainly Mile) dodge those serious parts. U see, even tho the 'serious' path is laid in front of them, the story doesnt take it. Instead, they take the more comedic path.,

The story is QT and comfy, i'd give 4 stars at first but since estelion took over the project I'm forced to lower it to 3. Well it's not the quality of the translation is the problem, the problem is translator and editor often slipping their comments in the middle of the story because they think their comments "witty and smart and lol jk so funneh eksdee eksdee". This act seriously disturbing the reading experience because who wants to read your comments oh translator and editor? I liked it in the beginning, around the first 30 chapters or so, but it feels like after the the school arcs the author didn't really know how to continue it. Basically you get all the generic adventure stuff like partying up, defeating people, fighting monsters. It's like a runaway train or a run-on sentence. Every now and then there's an interesting idea but the author isn't really using them well. Overall it's a kind of shallow novel. Translation is also a bit iffy at times but it isn't too... more>> bad. <<less

The series itself is one of those things you read while your phone is redscreened and you're just reading something while falling asleep at night. It tries to bring more "adult" themes into the mix, but ultimately it turns back to the same old routine of cutesy crud, so it just comes across as edgy. The author is all over the place with jumping back and forth on the plotline, and only barely has some semblance of what he wants to accomplish. As some other users have stated, the story... more>> itself is garbage, but it's the enjoyable kind of garbage that could get a 4 star rating for comedy and entertainment value if not for one detail...

The translators! Raisingthedead did a... Decent job of translation/editing. I'm a "language flow nazi" but I don't hold everyone to the same standard that writing needs to at least have proper conversational/reading flow even if it's got grammar/spelling mistakes. The first few initial chapters are illegible, and Estelion's group have been increasingly approaching the same point in the last ten chapters or so. It always read like a poorly edited machine translation under this group, but by the end of the Paulina arc, I have to focus and reread things multiple times (in some cases) because the language "flow" is so poor that it doesn't make sense as a native English speaker who's worked with/had to help "linguistically interpret" poor English fluency foreigners at his workplaces for the last 6 years. This reads like English is a second language (and a rarely practiced one) by both the editor and the TL. I'm not sure what the TL is doing since some sentences have clearly just been tossed through the google translate meat grinder and shoved out for the editor to have a field day trying to make sense of, and then the TL takes the leisure of adding meme tr*sh to the mix as well as part of their official translation. This wouldn't be a huge deal if it was properly translated in the first place, but it's clearly not, so it just makes things worse. I don't expect them to read this, but Estelion would benefit heavily from a second draft third party editor, and making their TL/ED notes be in a different font color so readers can skip over it. Sometimes there's more TL/ED notes in a sentence than there is a sentence, or their poorly marked so I mistake the TL/ED notes as actually being parts of the sentence. Because of their insistence on using parenthesis for TL/ED notes, they have to constantly state "this is X's thoughts" when the phrase could have been put in parenthesis to represent a non-physically spoken line. Whenever I see them adding TL/ED notes that are multiple sentences in the middle of the translated piece before continuing a sentence, I'm on the verge of ripping my hair out in frustration as I have to go back and figure out where their TL/ED notes end just to locate the actual sentence being TL'd. and the line breaks between sentences is obnoxious to read when it's obviously a description that could be combined into a paragraph. I feel like these machine translators are taking something that was 3.5 stars, and turning it into 1 star garbage because it's basically unreadable at this point if English is your first language. If the translator and editor can learn sentence structure and correct these mistakes, this would be a 3 star rating, but ideally what this novel needs is for Estelion to just drop it completely and let someone else pick up the slack- doubly so if their translator is just running things through google translate and using a dictionary when the googlebot occasionally fails. There's a clear difference between running something through the google translate grinder, and a translator using it for speed-translating then going back and properly translating the words by hand while looking at the base sentence structure. I have doubts that the TL is doing the latter in favor of speedy (and poor) translations, and at that point they could just post the raws, or make a google translated doc for public editing. It feels like they picked up the series because they thought it was popular and they could take advantage of that for recognition, and all they're doing is keeping other TL groups from doing a better job translating it. If it received proper editing and a better translation, I could probably give this a 3 or 4 star rating, but as it stands, it deserves a 2 star rating and I'm dropping it from my reading list unless someone else picks it up. <<less

This book is pretty nice to read. The MC's personality and her 'average' abilities were awesome and the book is quite lighthearted. Reina: "So Mile. When are you planning to screw us over?"

An immensely long story following the life of an Isekai protagonist who asked to have the elements of her capabilities that drive her isolation and impostor syndrome minimized, and instead get them turned into the Middle Value of all adult sophonts on the planet she is destined for. The story goes at its own pace, mixing in fascinating worldbuilding of a world ravaged by great filter events as we follow Misato/Adele/Mile/Miami through life as first as a cinderella clone with... more>> her 3 friends who form The Wonder Trio, and then her life as an adventurer with the Crimson Vow.

Mile is one of the more compelling cases of an Op character just being useless to the group until the last minute. Paulina, Mavis, and Reina enjoy her company and appreciate her contributions to the party, but unless the Crimson Vow are in mortal danger, the other 3 members want Mile to act moreso as their Adventuring Tutor, Intelligence Officer, and THE GOD OF PORTERS, because their own goals and ideals disallow them from solely relying on their ditzy goddess to overwhelm adversity. While Mile might only get a little bit of character growth over the course of the story, that is not the case for Reina, Paulina, and Mavis who have to temper their insecurities and weaknesses and forge their ideals into peerless weapons so they can stand besides their mutual mentor/bestfriend/infinite fountain of insanity/goddess.

Mile is considered an idiot/oblivious protagonist. While funny when used in universe, this feels completely inaccurate to a nerd valedictorian girl who lived in the late 2010s and was cast into a world where books were a luxury item. To her, the story takes place over a span of less then 4 years between ch1 and ch543. Shes going to still be reaching for her Nintendo Switch out of habit to kill time despite computational theory being something she invented less then 8 months ago in this world. Shes still looking for something to keep her brain occupied every second of the day.

The Crimson Vow's story really ends with chapter 543, with chapters 544+545 functioning as a decent farewell of "The Crimson Vow's adventures will continue". You can continue on from there, as the Vow and Wonder Trio walk new lands and catastrophically blunder into new tomes of legends, but the main story is concluded. This approximates the halfway point in novel 17, and after stories for completing the book, I would have prefered the series be fully concluded there. Its still enjoyable, but I believe FUNA could have started a new series to channel the Nonsense through.

As with all FUNA works, it took a little over a year for FUNA to find the initial concept for what the story was actually about. That first year consists of the Pre-Crimson Vow Lesser Nobles Academy of Brandel story, which does not overstay its welcome too much as Adele struggles with making friends and maintaining her finances while going to boarding school in her nation's capital. Then once it shifts with the "Heroes Forced Eviction" to the Crimson Vow, the story becomes much more a story about 4 friends having fun as they explore the world, later even going out to find weird adventuring tasks to complete rather then traditional subjugations and bounties.

Argument about Mile being a goddess:
Spoiler

and yes, Misato was reincarnated to become the planetary manager of the world of Average Abilities. Adele/Mile is a goddess, and the Crimson Vow, Wonder Trio, and that one merchant-knight's daughter that she has personally taught are her 7 archangels. One of the adventuring groups who show up later is named "The Servants of the Goddess" and who shows up of the non-archangels first, swearing absolute fealty to the divinity that looks to face the apocalypse ahead of them but the Servants.

also halfway through book 17, due to the final battle being broadcast in HD to every village, town, and city on the continent, the Crimson Vow achieve most (except for Mile's) of their goals as the supreme commanders of the army to cancel the apocalypse. Mavis is the Holy Knight of the Goddess recognized by all nations, Paulina cannot fail to make profits on her business ventures just by the value of her name being associated with the product. Reina has immortalized the Crimson Lightning in history and is a best selling author. All 3 of them are Independent Countesses of Tils, and Mile is beloved by all, ordained as a goddess, and has her own holy state contributed by 3 different nations being built as her own. The Vow determine victory is boring, and run away from their success.

One thing I will say, I dislike that Mile doesnt use goddess formation in the final battle. Damnit wheres the theatricality Misato,

[collapse]

Anime Commentary: the anime for this series does well in understanding the chapter to chapter style of FUNA and interpreting it to animation, but failed to understand the overarching plot and characterization.

Anime Criticism:
Spoiler

the is most significant direct issue is with Mavis, where the longrunning gag in the story of Mavis being a chick magnet was taken at face value rather then an emotionally disconcerting influence on the Knight-aspirant and the physical representation of her conflict between her personality and ideals, In the Novels, rather then played as a joke, Mavis' first kiss comes at the climax of her personal arc when she becomes a knight in all but title, having rescued a princess and using some absurdly dangerous combat stimulants to create a healing potion for the currently bleeding out princess. This is further after the Crimson Vow intentionally attempted to sabotage Mavis' best prospect at a marriage she would agree with and succeeding because the prospect didnt actually care about Mavis but just her major traits, of which there is someone vastly more qualified in the Crimson Vow at all times as a political partner when ignoring height and breast size.

Paulina is also essentially mishandled, as Paulina is almost outright a psychopath when it comes to earning money. This is the girl who came up with the plan to force an army invading the Aschem Vicounty to buy their own rations at incredible markup while retreating. She is "The Great Saint" because she has the highest natural affinity for healing magic of the Crimson Vow, butthat doesnt make her a good person.

the Lost Researchers mission is mishandled. The prisoner escape makes up a large portion of that mission, and its the first time the Crimson Vow start using Tactical Warcrimes, draining enemy spellcasters and crippling every combatant they encounter even after they surrender. Further they downplay just how injured Mile is, as well as the contributions of the Crimson Vow, as well as introduce the 00% series spells. Spells designed with modern physics, chemistry, and philosophy to create vastly more capable and dangerous weapons, but that Reina and Pauline are not allowed to utilize outside of situations where there is 0% chance of Survival and 0% chance to suceed. The next time we see them, Reina's first 00% Hellfire Dragonbreath nearly kills a dragon with White Phosphorus, and Paulina's cripples another by impaling it with hundreds of granite drills that explode into shaped charges and push molten capciasin into another dragon's internal organs. These are the spells the Crimson Vow uses in case Mile gets hit by another attack like that first dragon tailwhip, where Mile's lungs were eviscerated by her shattered ribcage and she was only alive by shear force of will and the nanomachines keeping blood oxygenated in her skull while they rebuilt her.

Theres also the fact that the Roaring mithrils were demoted but their association with the vow is weak, which is why they do not arrive in novel 17 early to the "The Goddess' Legion United" scene as well since the material where they reappear in had not been written at the time of storyboarding.

The MC is op, and when I say op I mean, really f*cking op. The main selling point of this novel from what I can tell is supposed to be the comedy. The plot for the first 50 chapters is good, afterwards it becomes a sub par slice of life novel where MC tries to live as peaceful of a life as possible. There's no problem with that, it's just that the author is so contradictory on what they want to convey to the reader. Is the novel a school... more>> life SOL, or is it an adventure novel? What is it? Adventure and SOL just don't mix, it's like mixing oil and water. You can try, but your efforts will be futile, and the result will be unsatisfactory. The comedy in the novel is well done though, the author is clever when it comes to comedy and certain tropes, like the overprotective father and sis-con brothers. The characters are actually fairly well developed, the main issue here is the plot.

TL;DR the novel does well with comedy and character interactions, but has poopy plot. <<less

This is good. It's a light hearted fun novel but for a slice of life novel, FUNA-sensei put enough depths on the politics and other stuffs. It's not as deep as heavy politic novels but it's enough to make sense.

The character development is good. MC is OP but in a way of talent not the usual one punch man type. A fair amount of time was spent for her to understand her powers and that's good. Balance of the party personalities is great and their skill development is also fun... more>> to read.

My only problem with this is the super slow pace. At some point, a potential goal of the story is introduced but progress of it is going too slow. <<less

I find this novel so so. MC ended up as an OP human due to being averaged out in the grand scheme of things, yet still wants to remain low key in her new life. There feels like little growth with the characters, other them getting a bit OP by association with MC. We get a little background, but most things are "easy fixes" and do not feel like they really contribute to the story as a whole. MC feels a little shallow for the whole plot/background, and feels like... more>> a roll coaster ride in terms of character direction. Translations seem hit or miss on quality, but can somewhat be figured out. Might circle back to see if the story picks up more, but so far, the story has lost my desire to read more. <<less

Starts out real strong but becomes a bit slow paced and is riddled with repetitive over-explanations that makes me thing the author is padding for word count. Still love it though, there's something of a plot that's starting to form. We can only see where it goes. I'm compelled to read them as they come out so it was enough to hook me. This novel is a cluster of weird scenarios following an weirder MC. It works a good over-powered MC and Comedy style Novel. I really found myself enjoying it despite several instances where I felt that the narrative does not provide enough emphasis on world building. So pick this novel up only if you prefer light hearted depictions of fantasy not a fleshed out fantasy and if you want to have a little fun reading.
