In just three years, Su Ling and Lin Feng went from being deeply in love to growing distant after their marriage.

When Su Ling received a call from his hometown urging him to return and inherit the ancestral home, he made the decision to pack his belongings and leave his disillusioning marriage and the bustling city behind.

Driven by the desire for self-sustainability, he took up a hoe and ventured into the fields to grow vegetables. Unbeknownst to him, his family’s ten-acre plot of land gradually transformed into a bountiful expanse of crops.

Eh?

Wasn’t this a tad bit too much? Since there were more vegetables than he could possibly eat, let’s live stream and sell them!

Surprisingly, the live stream’s popularity took an unprecedented leap, causing the vegetables to be sold out in no time. To add to the mystery, a fan base appeared out of nowhere?

At first, viewers entered a live stream with low expectations, anticipating nothing more than a mundane display of someone hawking vegetables. Just when they were about to express their criticism, their jaws dropped in utter astonishment the moment they laid eyes upon the streamer’s face…

Holy cow, holy cow, holy cow, holy cow!!!

Where did this stunningly handsome cutie come from?! TT^TT Someone save me! Why is a guy as good-looking as this one live streaming to sell vegetables here???

And so it continued…

Fan 1: The white cabbage from this cutie’s farm is refreshingly crisp and tastes amazing! Hope there’s more for sale next time!

Fan 2: We’re willing to send you gifts, Cutie, so please do more live streams! TT^TT

Fan 3: I’ve never been a fan of cucumbers, but ever since I tried the ones grown by this cutie, I can’t imagine a meal without them! (By the way, I could drool over Cutie’s face for a lifetime!) TT^TT

……

After returning from his business trip abroad, Lin Feng was greeted with a seemingly ransacked house and a slew of items missing. Amidst the mess, the sight of Su Ling’s divorce papers hit him like a ton of bricks, draining all color from his face.

Why did his wife decide he no longer wanted him after he left on a business trip?

In a mad frenzy, he feverishly sought any clues, only to be met with nothing!

One day, the assistant rushed over with a phone in hand, eager to show him a viral live stream featuring a farmer selling his agricultural products. Lin Feng’s astonishment knew no bounds when he realized that the handsome and graceful young man, clad in a white t-shirt and sporting a straw hat while holding a large cabbage, was none other than his missing wife!

Lin Feng raced through the winding roads toward the countryside, determined to bring Su Ling back with him.

With his pants rolled up and a hoe in hand, Su Ling proudly pointed toward the lush green fields and countered defiantly, “After all the sweat and toil I’ve poured into building this, why should I give it up?”

Lin Feng: “…”

Cute and fluff story. I liked the setting of this story in the countryside. MC and ML are a smart and strong couple but I disliked the ML a bit because he keeps on having secrets regarding MC. Both MC and ML are of age to have a mature and understanding relationship which I liked.

Overall, I'd recommend this for a short and light read. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Everything done here has been done before and done better. To make matters worse, the author can't help but ruin any goodwill a reader might have with their own tastelessness. To put it simply, the conflict between the MC and ML is superficial, the MC is a shallow and empty shell whose inexplicable perfection likely exists only as a projection of the authors deep seated insecurities, and the overall theme of 'returning to the countryside' is completely undermined by the MC's glaringly obvious consumerist tendencies.

There is no quicker turn off... more>> for any reader with half a brain than to describe time and time again how stunned everyone is by the main character's beauty. Su Ling is perfect, never fails despite a complete lack of skills or experience, and while pretending to pity the poor villagers in the countryside he spends the money earned from his inherited tea plantation on mahogany chairs and porcelain tea sets. If this author had spent the attention to detail they gave to Su Ling's wardrobe and shopping to any other aspect of this story then there might have been something worth reading here. The second hand embarrassment I get from reading this drivel is so intense that if I could I'd sue the author to compensate for emotional harm. Let's not forget Lin Feng's gold custom-made commemorative phone case. I laughed my head off. Is this a parody?

Besides the author's stunning lack of style or taste, the conflict between Lin Feng and Su Ling makes absolutely no sense. Lin Feng is never portrayed as a domineering obsessive CEO who kept Su Ling locked up and forcefully deprived him of love. Su Ling willingly became a bird in a gilded cage, but when he found out that, surprise surprise, a CEO of a major corporation is too busy to hold his hand through every day of marital bliss, he decides to completely give up on their relationship. Seriously, instead of opening his mouth to discuss this with his partner, in a fit of pique he drops divorce papers and ghosts Lin Feng. To be fair, Lin Feng deserved a slap in the face for hiding his hospitalization from his spouse, there was absolutely no reason for him to keep Su Ling in the dark about a mere fracture, but Su Ling has an incurable Disney style delusion about what 'love' is supposed to look like, so I hardly sympathize with him either. The author completely fails to convey any sense of pain or suffering that Su Ling experienced in their relationship which makes it seem like Su Ling abandoned their marriage because Lin Feng couldn't read his mind.

Su Ling's return to countryside is also a total narrative failure. Instead of experiencing any hardship after escaping his gilded cage, Su Ling flees to the countryside to inherit a well maintained estate filled with antiques along with several fields of arable land, and a whole mountain - tea plantation included. Stone creek village is allegedly "ensnared in poverty" according to Su Ling, but can you pinpoint any signs of poverty? The poverty Su Ling points out is really just the inconvenience that comes with rural life, like having to ride a tractor to get from his manor to the village. The village chief also wants to rebuild the roads, but no one really questions why a backwater village with an unknown population needs a two lane expressway. It's just accepted without question that this will help the villagers escape poverty. Su Ling's second grandfather and the village chief got state funding to rebuild the roads, but the allocated funds weren't sufficient and according to the village chief there's no one who could foot the bill - despite the fact that, while he was alive, Su Ling's grandfather was likely sitting on assets worth tens if not hundreds of millions. By now you're starting to understand that this story has more holes than plot and we can't use another paragraph describing Su Ling's beauty to pave over them. Also, focusing on the 'poverty' of the countryside comes off as tone deaf when you're simultaneously trying to idealize its beauty and purity. Not every farmer can be so lucky as to inherit millions and make a profit from livestreaming their poverty tourism. The CCP needs to send the author to a reeducation camp. <<less

I expected more live streaming than it turned out to include.

Most of the novel is just interpersonal drama; between MC and ML, MC and his family, ML and his family, random people and MC...

It's a bit much.

... more>> To be perfectly honest, this novel is somewhat of an odd one.

It's neither good nor bad, has no specific flaws or does anything particularly well, reading it feels like you are going through random posts on the internet that you read with lukewarm interest out of boredom and will never think about again.

Characterisation is pretty shallow, there isn't really any farming, the romance is passable with all problems being caused by not communicating, MC's looks and how people react is described in every chapter, more words are spent on his shopping tours than on live steaming or farming...

Might be an okay novel if you are exactly into what it offers, although I'm not sure what the targeted audience actually is, none of the elements are prominent enough to satisfy any of them.

I don't know how to rate this, so I won't. It's not mediocre enough to rate it 2.5, not good enough for more, or worse enough for less... it just is.

Try it if it sounds worth it, I guess? <<less
