I Thought It Was a Common Transmigration

As if it wasn’t enough to be hit on the head by my co-workers and boyfriend, I died at the hands of my gambling-addict older brother. Without even regretting my unfortunate death, I realized that I had possessed a supporting role in a romantic fantasy novel, which I just read yesterday. To be precise, a villainess destined to die at the hands of her husband. I know it’s cliché!

‘Possessed a villainess in a romantic fantasy novel! So this is what it feels like?’

I thought it was pretty good for the price of my unfair death. Until I realize that no matter what I do, I can’t deviate from the flow of the original. For the female lead Lizé, it’s a delightful cider series, but it’s nothing more of a bloody story for Edith, the villainess I possessed.

I am the protagonist in my life. If I’m going to die according to the original story, I should at least kiss my super handsome husband! In the original story, Edith is greatly despised by her husband, but who cares, I’m going to die anyway. However…

“You pretended not to be, but now you’re so hot to play with. Well, that’s good.”

“Yes…?”

“Satisfy me like Riegelhoff’s serpent. Well, who knows? I might be interested in that body of yours.”

…why is the original story starting to change now?

First of all, I almost going crazy because the translation is not complete yet and I'm left hanging... Fortunately there spoilers in forum.

I really like MC because she's a really strong woman mentally. And when I think there's no way she's going through 'that' because she is the female lead and ML will surely come to save her, and wow, it really show how much she just a supporting character in that story. In the first half, she basically relying on herself to clear her injustices to the point I... more>> wonder, who is the male lead? When I check the spoiler, I think 'ML is tr*sh' and denying the reality for a moment. But well then ML become better and it is gradually uncovered the reason he was like that, it's not his fault, he innocent, and I start to love and looking forward to their interaction.

'that'= framed, tortured, etc

What I love most about MC is her independence, if she can't rely on others, she will do it herself and that what make me stay throughout the story until the end.

But I still not find the spoiler about her real father, I want to know though.

Lastly, my sincere advice, prepare lots of tissues. <<less

So far I think it is very good. Everyone is a suspect all the time for the things that are happening. Hopefully the ML starts getting his act together

I dedicate those 2 stars for guavaread for the superb translation. 👍👏 I agree to the top commenter. I just wanted to add that if I had a say in this novel, I would very much like Ramsay from the Game of Thrones to torture EVERYONE in the novel with the exception of MC and Anna. I hated the ML up until chapter 80ish or 100 but he got redeemed at the end and I got disappointed really.. I want him to suffer and divorce for the way hetreated her plot... more>> or not. MC can do better than him. <<less

I adore the way this novel was written. The sadness is addictive and the payoff is satisfying. And I request my fellow readers to take the tragedy tag very seriously before proceeding. You'll thank me later.

It's a happy ending though. Got me worried about that for a good chunk of the story. It was just so hopeless, you see.

[collapse]

I like strong or smart FLs. Edith's IQ is very average and she's physically weak. At this point, I'd just drop the story after giving to 30 chapters at most. But what attracted me to the FL was her resilience..... really, my heart hurts just thinking about how much she suffered throughout this journey. But she never gave up...... you could say she is strong willed, but she also has the benevolence of a holy mother (this is actually not a trope I love. I like it when the MC is kind, but it has to be in moderation. Somehow....... it worked for Edith I guess?) I still don't know how to feel about that, though. What's crazy is that the world setting is messed up, but works on it's own logic. I like it.

That's it for the review.

The next part is just me exploring my brain hole that suddenly came to me while I was reading this story. It's a weird tangent, but hear me out.

As I kept reading, I was getting this weirdly familiar, yet unfamiliar feeling. I finally realized what that is. (Again, bear with me, coz it kinda makes sense). It reminded of the tragedy BLs that I've read. I've read at least 80 novels (each) of both straight and gay romance genres, so maybe my opinion holds some grounds.

The title is indeed right. This is not a common transmigration. It's hard to put it in words, but there is this pressure on your chest as the story progresses. You feel immense heartache while reading what she goes through. I feel like this is not how usual romance novels are written. I guess they feel 'vanilla' when you compare it to a pretty realistic story like this one.

Coming back to my point, this trope is very well explored in BL novels. I think it has a lot to do with how ruthless the author is, with their MC and how brave and resilient the MC is, in overcoming said challenges. I do wonder why not many straight romance novels explore this theme.

What's even more baffling to me is the fact that most of the two abovementioned novel genres, are written by women. In any event, to my fellow BL readers, try swapping the FL with a guy in one of those BLs and you'll understand what I mean.

While having said that, I am so glad this novel exists. I find it to be very empowering. Again, Edith is a very normal person. What she has going for her, is precisely her bravery. She feels so cool and charming but also pitiful and sad at the same time.

Love this story ❤️ <<less

Honestly, this story really satisfies me, this is my type of story, huhu, I beg if anyone has recommendations for this type, give it to me. If you're looking for a cool, tough and mean FL you won't find her, she's good maybe to the point where many people say she's naive, but that's her strength in my opinion. The thing that makes me really love her. There is no need to bite and take revenge, by being calm without feeling affected is revenge itself, the point is that I... more>> really love her. Except for the ending which I think is still unsatisfying hahaha I want more happy stories for her that's all <<less

Ughhh I can tell how much I freaking love this story! An isekai trope is pretty common but this is the first time an author influence was introduced in such trope.

It made things really interesting from guessing who the author is and what's their motive, a greatly written characters who are not weak with a hint of angst, every chapter is so captivating that I couldn't help but thinking; "just one more chapter". I also love how the story end. Instead of letting the actual FL pulled the revenge card,... more>> the author decided to let the actual villain to fall because of their own greed. A poetic justice indeed.

Also the translation in guavaread is so good! The translation was not stiff making me felt comfortable while reading. <<less

I love it. The FL is such a strong woman who knows she is pretty enough to have the man she wants and that she should not be enduring her husband's cold shoulder. She wants a calm life that is disrupted by the history flow. Love it. The author lemon frog does really have good histories on his list. If you like this you will probably like another of his works called The complex of being second place. This author usually writs about enemies to lovers. And ML and Gals... more>> enjoying their lives and getting what they deserve on the way. (Good or bad). Love it <<less

Finished - 2.5/5

The basic summary of this story is that someone transmigrated into the body of Edith after being killed, who was a villain in the original story. Her fate is to be killed by her husband, Killian, in which she tries to prevent this future from happening.

I found the story repetitive when it comes to Edith always having something happening to her, I understand why it's happening but it got tiring after a certain point. At the time of reading this, I thought this was a decent story w... more>> a satisfying ending... but after a few months, I'd say the story is okay at best w a generic ending like every other rofan. <<less

I cried a lot at the angsty parts! The identity of the villain also surprised me, but honestly... I should've realized, haha.

I think it was a bit trope-y, but the tropes were used in an interesting way.

I liked how complex the characters were, and I appreciated that the ML wasn't tr*sh (he initially was, but there were reasons). The supernatural? aspects and worldbuilding were also more interesting than most generic villainess transmigrations.

My only complaint is that the villain's downfall/POV chapters was a bit overdone (imo at least), but the novel's... more>> still great! I appreciate the MC's personality too, although the author does make her a bit too saintly at times for my tastes. <<less

Read most of this (c.36-156) in one sitting.

I really love this novel! I think the MC is pretty interesting and well developed. I like the ML in comparison to other ML’s. He’s not a bad ML but what I liked about him was mostly what he wasn’t. A lot of ML’s are overbearing and solve everything for the MC. He wasn’t like that, the perfect amount of clingy. I liked how logical and consistent the MC was. The villains were ok. Plenty to hate about them but you probably won’t... more>> loathe them. MC doesn’t really do any over the top revenge but it’s still satisfying. <<less

One of my favourite villainess novels!

The main couple is super cute and while there are some misunderstandings and the duo don't exactly clear these misunderstandings up, they still learn to love and communicate with each other as much as possible 🖤

The FL is a really nuanced and self-aware character and while she is particularly dense in a few ways, she still usually acts in a way that is more logical and mature than not. Though it would have been so nice to see her just like wham bam fisticuffs a... more>> large portion of characters 😌🙄 or y'know dear old ML coulda been a bit more harsh in his retribution 🤭 But regardless they were both pretty considerate people. While reasons made ML a bit of an ass in the beginning, he showed a willingness to grow and became someone FL trusted enough to depend on🖤

One of my biggest issue is certain characters could have grovelled a bit more. Specifically a cold hearted f*cking ass of a father who did not care about his sons feelings or regards nearly as well as he should have. And honestly, before the side stories I had a bit of sympathy towards our antagonist. But it really was a case of like if I'm gonna fall then I'm gonna f*cking torpedo and sink in regards to the antagonist's personality.

There were a couple of moments that were very... hmm, convenient? And while lampshaded in text, it was still a bit jarring to the prose itself? Like it could have been worked in a bit better (speaking specifically to things that happen in the last arcs)

Overall enjoyable novel, follows a lot of villainess cliches with its own twist that are pretty interesting and well done. A nice mix of action pushing the story and character revelations helping guide the main characters. I do wish we had more focus towards the side characters who honestly bodied some of the arcs, but this is a love-story not a found family story lol. Novel and conflicts didn't drag out too long. FL was not a mary-sue or OP as heck, which is always a good bonus. And sprinkled with learning to heal past traumas and the theme of giving yourself the space to mourn, grow and confront your past issues? *mwah!

A bit of gore tho, so if that's not your go maybe don't read? Because there's deffs a lot of physical ab*se, harassment, emotional manipulation, torture and like graphic depictions of violence and death. Mostly with a pretty fun tone to it, but those themes are all pretty evident throughout. So read at risk ig. <<less

i really liked this novel! I think the most refreshing thing about it is edith... she is logical and rational but at the same times has feelings and you can actually feel how hurt she was in the novel. and well the ML is kinda an idiot at the beginning, but the story does explain why is that so I quickly forgave him hahahah I really like their banter and interactions. I just really liked edith to be honest!!! I totally recommend this novel plus the translation is so good!!

Guava did such a fantastic job with the translation. I started reading the novel after coming across the story on line webtoon and I must say I really like the FL and ML because they both aren't s*upid and aren't blind to their emotions. I also love that the ending is satisfying with the villain getting what they deserved 💚

Well, , , this novel is very unique, , , , but the only think I like about this story is the MC Edith.... she is a wise, persistent and strong female lead. The tr*sh of the duke family well I've nothing to say about them coz even saying anything about them is waste of time

🛑Duke:One of the dumbest character I've ever read even a 3 years old child would be better than him ugh Whatever

🛑 Duchess:Just spineless and dumb

... more>> 🛑 Original ML:Jerk, a**hole, half mad, insane, blinded by love

🛑 Original FL/Author of the possessed novel: tr*sh, 🤬 psychopath, garbage

🛑 ML: Well even if he seems like a likeable character he doesn't stand up for FL that much his family that made FL suffer so much he didn't get the gut to leave that family of his

Some who read this novel may say that they were under Author's influence but it didn't get any better after she got out of this plot setting, , , , not single one them was punished for what they did to the FL, , , , l don't know the ending wasn't my cup of tea, , , , I would rather prefer a ending where FL flew to another continent and start her new life, , , , and that Duke family including ML all of them suffer with self blame, guilt and retribution

However I enjoyed this novel only because of our FL, she was so strong untill the very end

Lastly thanks to the translators for such a good joob <<less

committed. They're very basic and even a dumbass would know better... Author made it seem like it's such a complete mystery and made MC (Edith) despite her suspicions, always assume it's not who she thinks it is. Like come on girlie, how you gonna say one thing and forget in the next chapter?

I do really love Edith though, she is true to the character she was set to be. Strong, independent, genuine and still very kind and forgiving despite the crappy circumstances she's in. Her perseverance and positivity in the adversities against her because of the antagonist deserves lots of praise. She's no Mary Sue, she really had a lot of setbacks and crap thrown her way, I cried so much for her when she fought for herself and I'm so glad she got the ending she deserved.

I also want to give a big round of applause to the ML (Killian). I loved his character development the most, the fact that he was willing to change and admit his faults is always a good thing to see in MLs. Sure he was an ass in the first few chapters, but deep down he was always a character with a tender heart. I also like that the author didn't make him omnipotent and perfect. He has his flaws and has very limited power. He was willing to admit his wrongs and was okay giving Edith a chance when he started realizing that maybe she is the innocent one in this craziness. He's the first one to get rid of the locks holding him down and also the only one that started doubting

. His chemistry with Edith is so cute and adorable, he fell for her hard but in no way was he overly obsessive, exaggerated simping/spoiling, or dominating.

They're so sweet to each other, they balance each other very well. Edith is more of the carefree one and keeps the balance of the relationship whilst Killian is the overly affectionate and more hotheaded one that needs to be calmed down most times. Very cute and very healthy! <<less

It's great it was already completed when I finished reading this book and it only took one day. I gave it 5 stars because it is rare for me to satisfied with the novel from start to finish. Yes, it's not perfect but I enjoyed it that I had to review it. Give this novel a chance

I mostly enjoy this story. My biggest disappointment with it is that the true villain was never punished for everything they did.

If you're planning to start it go with Guava's translation, it is much better overall, though it does have some grammar issues but those are easily overlooked.

Loved it! It's a short novel but with a lot of drama and twists, the chemistry between the ML and FL were on point, they were so cute together!!. The male lead really was everything for me, bcs after he is out of his character he does everything for her! ML was really misunderstood, if u hate him, I think you really didn't understand nothing lol

The female lead was so human for me, I loved it, because she wasn't that type of FL that immediately knew how to act or... more>> scheme against others. I mean most of the FL I read they act like they have always been doing this but not her, specially because she was really attracted by the handsomeness of the ml, I mean she's so real for that😭

Anyway, the development of the story was well written and nothing was rushed. If you found this novel, give it a try! <<less
