Contrary to the title it's not really about misunderstandings.

The protagonist used the frustrations of his job as inspiration and has become a highly successful web novel author, so one day he decides to just stand up to his superior because his earnings as a writer eclipse what he's getting for his office job anyway.

But since his grievances were justified, he doesn't end up getting fired but actually resolves some issues.

And as he gradually takes on more responsibilities in his office job, the research he's done for the characters in his... more>> novels bears fruit.

So rather than being mistaken for a good employee, he actually becomes one purely based on the impulsive decision to no longer quietly take the crap he's been dealt.

Most work success stories are based on regression, and it's interesting to read one that doesn't include actual experience and future knowledge for a change. There are a few situations that require some suspension of disbelief, but overall I think the novel does a relatively good job at keeping the story plausible.

One of the things to keep in mind is that the protagonist has been an extraordinary person from the start who simply didn't act up at work. So it's not like some of those unbelievable cheat novels where an ordinary person suddenly becomes special, but a talented and hardworking person makes a change and gets the recognition he should have gotten all along.

Anyway, since the protagonist doesn't have specific goals like the ones in regression stories usually do, I'm curious how far he'll actually rise through the ranks, and to what extent he'll make use of his writing talents for his day job.

The characters don't have a lot of depth yet, but it's still early and not entirely clear which of the characters are actually going to have repeating appearances in the long term rather than showing up for an arc or two and then fading into insignificance. Likeable characters are likeable, hateable characters are hateable, so in that context I think the author is properly achieving the purpose at least. <<less
