Rest, a boy born between nobles and commoners, was diagnosed as having “no magical power”, but that was a falsehood; in truth, he possessed infinite magic.

Treated and persecuted like a dog due to being a commoner’s child, he refused to remain a victim forever.

“Someday, all of you will realize… that I am the one with infinite magic!”

A very cliche novel, with a classic jp MC that is excruciatingly kind, to the point when he literally eats his food like a dog from a bowl in the ground in every meal and doesn't do anything, and has no intention to get revenge.

Of course girls fall in love with him because he is this kind, and strong, and just happens to save them at the nick of time from monsters.

I don't really recommend people to read this novel, unless you are new to light novels and you haven't... more>> seen this plot hundreds of times already, or you have nothing else to read, at least the translation here is very good, and will not kill your brain cells trying to read it like most mtl novels here <<less

Mismatched occurrences:

  • Spoiler
    • graphic ab*se is just brushed off,
    • weird pacing,
    • even whether MC is reincarnated or just remembering memories is not clear. Sometimes explicitly says he doesn't remember specifics from previous life, then goes on to describe his previous life, as to justify his thinking process in that exact moment without coherence or any continuity with the story.

I love cliche stories, but this feels like set of cliches smashed together out of context.

This is one of those Isekai about a reincarnated, overpowered protagonist that starts off as a commoner and works his way up the ladder into nobility. There are quite a few of these kinds of Isekai already, however, there are actually a couple of points that make this Isekai particularly fun to read. This series focuses on

organizations of reincarnated individuals that fight each other behind the scenes, acting as masterminds, aiming to fight whether to destroy or protect the world they are currently in.

Contrary to that, the protagonist simply wants to live a peaceful life with a loving family, since he was unable to experience that in his first life. Such a simple wish gets more and more difficult to achieve as things develop in a direction that goes against the protagonist's wishes. So the protagonist is forced to step into different battlefields all for the sake of achieving a peaceful life for himself, his family, and lovers.

The protagonist as a character is very reasonable and level-headed, likeable even. If someone hits him, he hits them back. He definitely ain't a pushover.

But when we are on the topic of romance, it feels much more like he is letting himself be dragged around. Although.... the heroines around him act as a filter, so girls with bad intentions never even get a chance to get near him, and the heroines also patiently prioritize the protagonist's feelings and choices in the matter when talking about engagement with other girls. There was even a heroine with a very high status that would help him break away from her political marriage with him (protagonist) if he wasn't interested in her. This leads to the protagonist having affection with heroines that are all good and endearing, even before the idea of engagement is brought up. Since he never really gets into an engagement with a girl with a particularly bad character, things just develops in a direction that is favorable for both the protagonist and for different heroines.

One big plus is that the protagonist is not dense at all, he is very much open with his affections even if the engagements are political. The romance portions are good, but I enjoy following the protagonist's rise to power more. I started reading this as a fan of romance/poly, but there are a lot of aspects of world building in this story that are just too intriguing to ignore. I'll come back again to continue reading when there are more chapters! <<less
