Kim Yuro, famously known as the ‘Survival Show Failure Idol,’ was cast in the supporting role of ‘Yuro Lechis’ in the musical Lechis—all because of a name coincidence.

However, instead of starting a new life as a musical actor, tragedy strikes. While performing a scene where he’s supposed to be stabbed on stage, he’s fatally wounded by a real sword.

Just as he thinks his miserable life has come to an end, he wakes up in the body of the very character who was destined to die, Yuro Lechis.

Now, with death looming over him once again, he realizes there’s only one way to survive. To marry Melione Spioren, the man who is the root of all the misfortune and who is fated to kill him.

“I wasn’t expecting a prince instead of a princess.”

“Well…there was no explicit mention that it had to be a woman.”

Although he manages to take his half-sister’s place and marry Melione, there’s one more crucial task to prevent the impending tragedy—he must cure the madness that has plagued the Spioren ducal family for generations.

“Um, would it be okay if I sang you a lullaby before bed?”

“…Do as you wish.”

Every night, under the guise of singing lullabies, Yuro secretly administers sleeping medicine to Melione while pretending to be in love, even sharing the bed in a desperate attempt to cure his madness. It’s all strictly medical… or so he thought.

“Melione, I think I’m falling for you.”

“Stop the act. It’s annoying. Stay out of my sight.”

But it turns out that pretending to be in love was a dangerous game—one that might just backfire.

I jumped straight into this without much expectations but there were more melodrama and angst than the usual classic transmigeration cliche.

Maybe I've been a bit too much of a face-con these days so seeing long haired Claude (WMMAP) and Gallahan (ISMTF) as an art bait was very effective for me to open my wallet and continue reading. I might be biased since I love western romfans, but I was really hooked by the starting of the story. The author laid upon layers of mysteries for the MC to slowly uncover... more>> with us readers.

MC is a ex-Idol trainee who never managed to debut before getting stabbed to death. ML is a cursed two-faced duke who is indifferent and relatively kind on the surface but a ticking time bomb at the back.

The comedy tag is more relevant for the first 30 chapters where the two MCs are trying to out-act one another, leading to awkward and funny situations. They don't fall in love immediately and the first half was more about MC trying to break ML's curse.

The starting to mid-point was great, however the latter parts felt as if it was dragged out for the melodrama. Most KR novels I'm reading have been amazingly good at the start, then dropping off at the middle. This novel follows the same route of being interesting at the start and getting increasingly messy at the climax point. Not sure if it's a KR novel thing but they seem to really love turning everything into wife chasing crematoriums when it isn't necessary. Wasn't a fan of the melodrama and wish there were more healing scenes. Ridi reviews says that chapters after 120 get even more messy and I've been noticing a downward trend so I decided to drop it off at the mid point. Not rating it, maybe I'll pick it up again someday. <<less
