i really like this novel thus far;

the lead isn’t ditzy and helpless and is actually quite intelligent, wise, strong and charismatic. All in all she’s a strong lead. My only concern is that I think she still thinks of the others as mere “otome game characters” or such, and that they will only follow the plot of the otome game- meaning this is probably what goes through her head; “they can’t possibly fall in love with me bc that’s not how it’s supposed to be”. She is intelligent but is... more>> dense when it comes to things like love as well as people opinions on her (all the opinions thus far that other characters have had about her are all positive btw but she thinks her actions make her look “bad” “evil” “like a villainess”) . She thinks she’s acting like a “perfect villainess” but in reality is doing good deeds and treating people kindly and such which isn’t usually villainess-like. <<less

Came to read the novel after watching the anime.

I am totally creeped out by the obvious g*ooming of the supposed ML (I seriously like the ML to be someone else). In the anime, Duke has been putting the moves on Alicia from the time she was 10 yrs old I think. Also, sleeping topless in Alicia’s bed in her own home... how did her family allow that to happen to a child who hasn’t had her debut yet. It’s one thing if they became friends at a young age and... more>> him courting/teasing her when she has come of age. Totally unacceptable when Duke treats a child as a romantic interest
Spoiler

I am somewhat rooting for Gilles as the ML instead. He’s a child right now but they’re about 3yrs apart and Alicia doesn’t view him as anything but a child. I don’t know yet, but maybe Finn or Curtis? Lol

[collapse]

However, I am trying to forget that one revolting part of the story in favor of the plot. It’s refreshing to read such a refined classy young lady taking everything head on. I also like the idea of the saintess and the villainess being frienemies once Liz gets over her s*upid ignorance and whatnot. <<less

The ending of the first season of the anime == chapter 179.

It's an alright novel. Each chapter is really short, so you could binge several chapters at once.

The plot is on the childish side, which is a shame because it has a lot of potential as with anything in this reincarnation/villainous genre; it's messy and disjointed. The FL is smart, driven, and hard working, but I can't tell half the time where she's going with it. Her "goal" of being the greatest villainous ever isn't that sustainable to begin with.... more>> At first, it's funny and a good launching point, but +200 chapters in, she's getting to be too all over the place for me to stand reading it further. I'd like some kind of character development from her.

Spoiler

The real villainess is looking to be the original FL of the novel. However, at ch 275, we don't know yet if she's a mastermind-level villain, consciously influencing others to do bad things. I'd like to think so, since she's such a goody-two-shoes it's annoying the h out of me; it would do good for the novel if she turns out to be more substantive than she's currently portrayed to be.

[collapse]

Romance is kinda slow, but it is there. NOT reverse harem.

Overall, this is going into my DNF list. It doesn't have substance for me to keep going.

Read it if you like the genre and have time to burn. Prepare to be micro-frustrated tho. <<less

There's a certain scene that I will always remember - its that good.
Spoiler

where she gives away her eye

Its definitely been one of the more unique villainess isekai's I've read, which is why I could read this despite not liking the genre. However, it has pitfalls unrelated to isekai. The plot, logic and character writing don't hold the same standard (hypocritical arguments, plot conveniences, 2d characters).

There are rage baiting moments, but they've eased off where I'm at now in the story. I do like that how so far it hasn't been to harem-y. Other than the male lead, she has a couple fan girls and a follower. If there is anyone else its not definitive yet.

Over all not sure if I recommend, but I did read quite a bit regardless.

There is a fine line between brilliant and crazy. I think the characters in this novel embody this.

The main character shows classic symptoms of ADHD, making her very relatable to me since I do too. She’s extremely focused and detailed and exceptional on certain things- but tends to ignore or completely skip over other details, making her erratically brilliant but still very human.

The plot itself seems rather cliche but has a tendency to digress into deep philosophical questions at the top of a hat. Should society be purely meritocratic? Is... more>> a system that relies on human kindness inherently unstable? In the spectrum of idealism versus cold-hearted practicality, where should we draw the line?

You’ll like this story if: you hate naive, idealistic heroines with no practical ideas; you enjoy hardworking, OP characters that are erratically brilliant; and if you aren’t bothered by the fact that the male lead fell in love with a girl a lot younger than him and the original story had the antagonist be more than three years younger than the original protagonist group. (Which in some ways proves her original point that the heroine is s*upid) <<less

I don't understand the low ratings, in my view of someone who read up to chapter 169 I think the story is very good, it's not the fifth wonder of the world, but it's very original in terms of the path that the protagonist follows.

She is one of the first villains I've seen that really lives up to the name "villain", she does what it takes to pass the images of cruel, detestable and it makes sense that she doesn't want others to not like her, or others not like... more>> her, because that is her goal, to be a villain that will go down in history and whether or not she brings reflections on the interpretation of character.

She is in fact not a villain who commits atrocities, but she has divergent points of view to the other characters and is true, she doesn't care if her truth will hurt A, or B, she says what many don't have the courage to say and try to be as rational as possible. <<less
