Luo Jiang, a nominated geologist from the previous life, finds himself stranded on Red Star, where even basic meals are scarce. With his awakened supernatural ability, he gains favor from the Imperial Marshal and successfully acquires a useful item — a small thumb-sized die.

This die allows him to conduct unknown tests.

From then on, he disguises himself as an Alpha and successfully infiltrates the military district. Using potatoes brought from his previous world, he promotes cultivation and starts livestreaming.

A refugee from the lower echelons of Red Star, Luo Jiang rises as a star in interstellar livestreaming, becoming the wealthiest person in the Empire and the envy of the entire galaxy.

“They say this broadcaster is underage?”

“With such beauty, surely an Omega!”

“Turns out he’s actually an Alpha?”

Luo Jiang, who appears to be an Alpha but is actually an Omega, thrives effortlessly.

However, he catches the attention of the Marshal.

During a distant journey, Luo Jiang goes into heat, releasing sweet pheromones throughout the fiercely powerful battleship. Despite his attempts to flee, he cannot escape the Marshal’s intense gaze.

With crimson eyes, the Marshal asks, “Among the Alphas present, whom will you choose?”

Luo Jiang swallows hard and points to someone.

Immediately, the door locks, and the Marshal’s powerful pheromones overwhelm him.

*

Qi Ningshu is an exceedingly rare super SSS-level existence in the Empire, with the ability to detect lies.

His transcendent status and unique ability make everyone powerless before him.

Except for Luo Jiang, whom he meets on Red Star.

From beginning to end, Luo Jiang lies to him, even about his gender.

He silently watches this little trickster, gradually falling into his trap, until finally, he makes him his.

Main Characters: Luo Jiang, Qi Ningshu

I normally wait until I'm further into a novel to rate but this novel was just so frustrating in its setup.

Summary: MC wakes up in someone's body (unclear if he transmigrated or isekai'd) in an interstellar age on a desolate planet. All he has with him from Earth is a single potato. MC decides he wants to plant the potato somewhere and is searching for good soil to plant. Somehow, the potato never goes bad even though it takes him months to find some place. As of chapter 15,... more>> he still hasn't found a place to plant the potato. In search of good soil, he joins the military while hiding that he's an omega for some reason. He then proceeds to deal with some annoying stuff. His powerups and abilities are so nonsensical too.

Setting:

This is an interstellar ABO world. They can travel through space but can't develop a good radar detector for space. MC's eyes are somehow more accurate and far reaching than the military's technology because he has night vision. W h a t ? Make it make sense.

On top of that, it's unclear if MC transmigrated with his body or entered someone else's body because apparently, he was a geologist and now, he's 16 but also, he discovers a shed to live in which had drugs that disguise omegas as alphas. So, is he in the body of the one who lived in the shed?

We learn that disguising as an Alpha on the desolate planet makes sense because omegas, who take on the "female" role in society, are rare on a planet as poor as that one. It's safer for MC to pretend to be an alpha. Then the military comes, and they say they're only recruiting alphas and are testing people, yet somehow MC fools the scanner without actually doing anything. Then MC's weird ability makes its debut and helps the military out of a tight spot. Afterwards, it seems like ML isn't that weird or annoying, but it goes away when they land on the capital planet because then ML reverts back to your typical cold alpha male bullshit. It's your typical arrogant and self-conceited CEO routine with no uniqueness or charm.

It's even more frustrating because MC is underage. They enticed an underage alpha who looks like he was starved and desperate to join the military, which is child labor, then they assign him to an actual effing pe*vert who starts abusing his authority in order to force MC to sleep with him. Note, despite knowing that this pe*vert has a reputation for this stuff and that the vulnerable teenage MC is in danger with him, no adult in this situation tries to help or reassign MC. When ML sees MC looking tired he's more upset at him for being lazy and not having learned the proper salute yet. ML's lieutenant? Adjutant? Buddy? Whatever, is aware of the pe*vert's tendencies and reputation and mentions it to ML, who scoffs that it can't be avoided (?). Really wanted to reach into the screen and beat up ML for that. BUT, ML's bff, brother-in-arms, numero dos, whatever, also does nothing to help despite arguably having enough influence to either reassign MC or warn the pe*vert.

Also, in what world do you join the military and not get any training first? MC joins as a cleaner, meaning someone who goes and clear space debris. When he lands on the capital star, he's assigned to patrol the streets? Not as a cleaner but as something like a patrol officer walking his beat. HE HAS NO COMBAT TRAINING? WTF?

Note, all this is happening and MC is just stopping at random places on the streets he patrols to see if he can plant his (presumably plastic) potato. MC is also just really naive. He doesn't bother actually gathering information about the world he's in. He just does what's assigned and looks for places to plant the potato. Why??? He negotiates a salary at one point and just asks for crystals to feed his weird burden.

And all of this is without mentioning the weird pet/burden that targets MC for some reason. It feeds on core crystals, which with extrapolation I understand to mean NUCLEAR crystals that power star engines? That are apparently just lying around??? It's ability is to drain MC's finances, scan a field of land once while costing an astronomical amount of core crystals each time, and storing an even more astronomical amount of crystals inside of its dice-shaped and sized body.

ML is objectively one of the worst I've seen in a long while. Maybe I've just been spoiled with good MLs for a while now but he's so insufferable. He's irresponsible, callous, indifferent, arrogant, demanding, and insensitive. I've yet to see one redeeming quality in him. I don't expect ML's to worship the MC, but they should be decent enough people to not ab*se child labor, not consider people who are the society equivalent of women as "unstable factors" in society that he dislikes and they should be decent people who would take accusations of ab*se of authority and r*pe seriously. I'm so disgusted by him.

On top of all that, there is something in the summary about ML having the ability to detect lies. Where? What? When? MC's repeatedly lying, that's true, but ML doesn't ever catch him so ???

DNF?

I'm strongly considering DNFing this novel but I'll hold out until he actually plants the freaking potato. <<less

Not sure how I feel about this story. The novel verged farther from the summary than I thought. The plot was still interesting enough to keep reading but I was a bit disappointed. The summary made it sound like the primary focus would be on MC figuring out how to cultivate his potato in a foreign world and how to spread it out to other areas through live-streaming. And while it did happen... honestly it didn't feel all too important.

I would say the plot follows MC and his military endeavors... more>> if anything. With a focus on romance in the second half. And there is a major plot in this story. I did enjoy how MC is fairly independent while he knows how to move with the flow to his advantage. There were definitely some plot holes. But overall it was fine. I did skim some parts tho. So only 4 stars from me - rounded up from 3.5 honestly. <<less

I love potatos as much as the MC, but the story was focused on anything but Potato farming. No, there wasn't much about live-streaming either.

This story was mainly focused on the MC helping out military works in the first half, and romance between the MC and the ML in the second half.

Which is totally fine if the title and summary didn't feel like clickbait now.

MC is a decent but naive person who stands his ground and focuses on wanting to better the world. ML is cold in the beginning but... more>> he becomes a simp later.

It was interesting at the start, but it felt like the author tried to include too many things and made the story lose focus.

Spoiler

World building - Only the first planet arc was properly developed. The whole "potato will save world hunger" thing didn't come into play since they sell other tasty vegetables and meat in grocery stores. The first time the MC cooked a meal (Before potato planting) for ML, he used Veges to stirfry a delicious feast and I had question marks in my head.

There's also a weird timeline flow of 2years passing but the potato still hasn't matured? (I'll bfr tho the timeskip was to make sure the MC (16 yo) was of legal age to marry 28 yo ML.)

There are several topics on s*xual harassment and racism, but none of it were really addressed.

Plot - I was lured by the Potatos, but the story wasn't about potatos. It's a okay story to pass time but it was so-so for me.

First off, the translation is excellent, so no worries there.

This novel was good for about the first 30 chapters, but then the author tried to include multiple plot pots but didn't do a good job in meshing them cohesively, so it becomes awkward.

My biggest issue with this is that there is not enough background information to really understand what's going on. We have antagonists, but outside of the basic "empire enemies" and "ML said so" we do t really get a full picture. Like why is the antagonist race an... more>> enemy worth all the hatred directed at them.
Spoiler

there is also the whole potato farming that's supposed to save everyone from starvation. It can be seen that from the beginning that the major factor is soil composition when it comes to growing, as it took MC a long time to find somewhere he would plant his potatoes. On the other hand, while expensive, there are fruits and veggies available for purchase, and there was no indication that there was a limited amount. So honestly, the focus on potatoes saving everyone from starving seems redundant, especially since red star would not be able to grow them, which means the cost of transportation or making the planet suitable for cultivation would be astronomically expensive.

I tried to finish the novel, but I couldn't and ended at ch. 51. This is not the first poorly written story I have read and dropped, but this one was so egregious to me. I think I set myself up, having high expectation based on the summary and tried to see the light at the end. I thought this was the "omega pretending to be alpha/ omega is badass or smart" because I enjoy those tropes. So I was curious how he was going to do that with a... more>> potato and streaming. Probably some end world hunger and using his brains. (Yes it is my fault for having high hopes).

Spoiler

To me, the MC had no personality and opinion. While, it doesn't have to be a constant struggle or dog-blood, it just seems in every situation, someone makes it convenient for him or solves his issue (usually the ML). I understand MC has limited options, but it's too much that it always works to his advantage and is all finished off in a simple manner. MC always seems to readily agree with the ML and ML is always right. Not to mention, it is very well timed on a desolate planet that the MC has enough drugs to able to disguise his gender and without issues.

The only thing I read about the ML attraction to the MC is his obedience and looks. I found the ML to be inappropriate and unprofessional. ML is a Marshal and an adult and MC is seventeen. He barely knows the MC, yet, has MC living and sleeping with him (for a period). He is demanding and thinks he knows what is good for the MC.

Another gripe I have is that ML knows Darren is tr*sh and would do something s*xual to MC as punishment for leaving his post. How is that appropriate to use as a threat to do his job better and against a child. It was bad write in that same chapter that the ML desired to see MC tearful and fearful. Why would anyone want to see someone frightened from ab*se?

Moreover, I am unsure how the author plans to have him like the MC when he founds out he is an omega. ML has stereotypical alpha reasoning for disliking of omega; weak, dependent, mentally unstable, and only role is for reproductive purpose. I find he is awful for viewing them as an 'unstable existence'; disliking a human being for their biology and existence. Perhaps, he has trauma for him to think way, but still no excuse to be an awful person. I am not sure about the trauma since it has not been revealed from ch. 1-51.

In spite of ML personality, ML does a lot for someone like the MC despite their relationship and status. I believe I saw ML reasoning is because he is useful and has good abilities... night vision in a futuristic setting... and that he can understand Beast language? ML gives MC crystals easily like they are candy, aren't they suppose to be rare? I am shocked how fast MC went from cleaner to military officer close to the Marshal.

I am confused how the MC can go into battle even though he has no combat training or experience? How could he be okay with the pheromones when he wasn't before? How could the MC have a new ability to win the battle? How did he develop these abilities? What kind of reasoning is "I'm not afraid of battle because I saw lots of violent and gruesome scenes on tv before." MC does not explain why he would risk his cover for ML.

It did bother me that MC sympathy for the beasts "shatter" completely without critically thinking or understanding the whole picture. Similar to one bad apple spoils the entire batch. It's true, what the Beasts did was horrible and does not excuse them. However, he doesn't even think about the circumstances and why they did such things. It's war and it' for survival. People will do questionable and desperate things for survival. It is understandable he should just care about his own kind, but his conclusion to that decision are childish. It seemed to fail on the MC that humans can commit awful crimes too. (Then again, I don't know, maybe the author might have written in the later chapters that the Beasts are the 'villains'.)

I felt Zero's appearance was abrupt. It seemed Zero's purpose is for teleporting, storing, and to do MC job of finding a place to plant the potato. Despite the MC was once a geologist in his past life. His past job and skills are barely mentioned; hell, I forgot he was a scientist. MC doesn't even work or think like a scientist or do anything related to his job before. The closest thing mentioned about his geologist background is the type of soil to use for his potato. The potato plays a very minor part in this novel and the streaming part is easily glossed over. He immediately receives a high view count s soon as he streamed once session. The chapters have been about his military job and a mission with the ML.

Zero takes a huge amount of crystal to do one thing. He steals those crystal that would have gotten MC in huge trouble if the ML didn't help. MC does nothing substantial to stop or teach Zero.

Regarding, the gender issues in an omegaverse, I have difficulty explaining how its done in this novel. For an omegaverse you already know going in what to expect, especially based on the summary. Yet, I feel the author merely painted half the picture of an omegaverse society with basic techniques. What I get from our MC is he finds being an omega as inconvenience more than anything. I don't feel the author made it impactful for our MC. Maybe he doesn't need panic since he is being treated well with a new place and money. I understand, he is no freedom fighter and omega rights is not MC goal.

Maybe there will be answers later on and maybe the potato will actually be incorporated. Maybe.

Will update as I go if I can get through more of this.

Standard to most CN novels, title and synopsis are a minor part of the novel. MC is a saintly Sue character that transmigrated with a single potato and some abilities, and thus far, his goal is to save the world. ML is a marshal trying to guard against threat and to protect the military against the usual interstellar political intrigue. Pretty standard, but good interstellar novel so far- just find the MC rather annoying. Other readers probably like... more>> him because he is the protagonist and is compassionate, but I find him a little too saintly and white lotus- hopefully that changes. Have seen complaints against ML but I find him a very logical character, if one that is a little too nice to the MC- protagonist halo much? As a marshal, he has to be on the defense against a lot of threats, aside from the usual ML somehow just feels like the MC is a good person, he is pretty good at trying to be on guard against things that are abnormal and eliminating visible enemies. Logic holes abound, but I attribute that to the protagonist halo.

Honestly would rather read a novel about someone transmigrating into this world and messing w/ the two of them. <<less

Not giving this a rating. 🤣😂🤣 I think it has its own highs and lows.

The love line could have beeeeen sooooo muuuuchhh better if the ML and the MC didn't just got together. It's also the reason why most of the reviews are angry hahaha! It was going soooo weeeelllll..
Spoiler

if MC just let the ML chase him to the crematorium longer and had more character growth, it would've been soooo muuuuuchh betterr.. I wanted the ML to beg and chase more honestly. I think the author was in a hurry to finish the novel instead of going further for the plot itself. The ML should have suffered more in chasing. Transltor onlyfornovels did a great job wording ML's regret but it was tooooo few.

Zerozero's ability to teleport was highly unused. F*ck. I thought the MC was gonna use it to live freely or something but nuuuuuu.. It got used for like 3-5 times? Hahaha.

MC also looks like he's really intelligent when it comes to animals and plants but his IQ only got showcased a few times. I wished he had his own highlights as an MC rather than as the +1 of the ML in most battles.

All in all, even if I, internally understand why MC was like that with the ML, it's because I'm weak. 🤣 I sympathise with other weak people🤣.

I don't hate the couple but this could have been soo mucccch better if the author wasn't in a hurry to finish it within 90+ chapters.
