‘Oh, I’m so tired of this…

It’s been three years since I was forced into a political marriage with my husband, who is five years younger and doted on his childhood friend. It’s not like I love my husband, but I really don’t like the bad atmosphere in the house. I make efforts to talk to him, but my husband’s responses are as weak as ever. He doesn’t treat me poorly, but I work hard at my job in the royal palace, I work hard at my duties as the consort of the marquis, I’m considerate of the marquis household’s servants, and I’m mindful of my husband and his family.’

This is a story about a young man who, after trying and trying and trying so hard, one day suddenly decides, ‘I’m done trying.’

Now, how will his husband react…?

It's a short novel so... Yeah, expect quick forgiveness. The ML's action all those years being excuse as someone who don't know how to talk but why after MC started to ignore ML, he was able to talk to MC (like properly)

Three years... In the end, it's all MC's effort. MC always being the one giving and ML always receiving.

The side characters can see that too. If the ML suffered a little more, maybe I would understand and like the relationship dynamic.

The side characters is the only thing I... more>> like in this novel. I like MC only a little. ML? Who? <<less

My actual rating would be 4.3, but since this novel lacks high rating I give it 5.

Starting off with the MC,

I actually liked his character, how he is calm and clear-headed and confidence in himself. Even with dealing with a half-grown man as a husband, he still tried his best to maintain the harmony of a marriage, though he understandaly stopped later. But even when the story progresses and their relationship is improving, his characters still consistent, though that's expected for a short story like this.

As for the ML,... more>>

I disliked him at first, but later when they communicate. I have grown to like him a bit. His naivety when dealing with relatioships and his past misdeeds still irk me, but the fact that the side characters throw some shits at him for that, made it better. Plus, the fact that he is SO DOWN BAD for MC after their relationship progressing also elevates his standing in my heart.

The mpreg:

Spoiler

for the mpreg part, it was a part of the world, where men are able to be implanted with artificial womb with magic in order to sire children. Our couple gave birth to 2 children, a boy and a girl, but it was only mention at the last chapter of the main story within one to two paragraphs only. I was kinda disappointed, but then it was expected since it was just a short story, if it could be longer, seeing the MC goes through pregnancy will make it better (my personal opinion only)

at first, I don't like the ML because, who kept on interacting with their spouse at the most minimum for three years just because you don't know what to say?! The fact he assaulted and confined his ex-lover in his bedroom was crazyy but was quickly dealt with. I quite like the ML father in this because he was the one who took charge in rescuing the confined ex-lover and was the one who pointed out that the feelings ML had for the ex was not love but obsession.

The first six months of the marriage, he reflected on himself a lot, and then actually fell in love with MC after that, but since he didn't know how to talk to MC, he kept on being taciturn for 3 years, until MC himself had enough and stopped trying to interact with him. At this point, the ML suddenly heard the alarm ringing and initiated the talk and they became honest with each other, and it was at this point the MC knows that ML was down bad for him, and was truly in love with him, though MC could'nt reciprocate the feelings yet.

The way they handled the meeting between MC and his ex was mature, but between ML and his ex, not so much. I was actually annoyed with the ML at this part, like why are you so oblivious?! He actually made MC collapsed because of the rumours and misunderstandings due to his actions (and inactions). Though he quickly apologised and took actions, I think he did deserve all the scoldings he received.

All in all, it was actually a good short light-hearted story. Try giving it a try when you're in the mood. I may be quite generous on my review and others may not agree, but do try reading it! <<less

I really, really wanted to enjoy this. Sadly, things don't go as planned. It's not that this is bad, but it definitely would have been better if it was longer and more fleshed out.

Spoiler

While Al's attitude was not overly harsh, it was extremely inconsiderate. He proceeds to reflect on himself for the first 6 months of marriage, and decides Noah left him because he didn't truly concern himself with Noah's thought and feelings. Which honestly kudos to him because Ml's very rarely realize this. But all this self-reflection goes down the drain, because he proceeds to treat his next love the same way just extremely colder. Noah felt severely insecure being with Al, and Al then makes Finn insecure as well? Well, that's not really my main issue really. My main issue was how quickly Finn was ready to forgive and compromise with Al. You mean to tell me emotional distress and overworking is fixed by a measly, 'Sorry I couldn't talk to you at all, but it's partially because you're too sexy.'? I'm sorry what? That make everything right with the world how? What baffled me was that everyone around Finn was so happy that Al finally treated him decently, like my man Finn was thrown into emotional turmoil and all everyone can say is 'I'm so happy you're finally talking and what about kids?' Honestly Ethan was the best. Sure, he is the third party, but I felt he was the only one rooting for Finn's wellness.

All in all, this story could have been great, but it did deserve more time, and I think definitely more wife chasing. It is a short story, and it seems the author is still fresh to the writing scene so it's not terrible.

Edit [I just realized that my conclusion line sounds like the comment above mine, but I shant change it] <<less

It's not bad but it's a bit strange. The MC forgives a bit too easily in my opinion and it may be a translation error but says things that contradict one another ... more>>
Spoiler

he said he liked being on the receiving end then said he's more the higher than the hugged (which makes no sense in English I think but that's what he said)

I think it's a translation error because in chapter 11 he says that the husband is 5 years older but we know he's five years younger.

The strangest thing is the ML's character... it's so inconsistent and illogical!

Anyway this novel is leaving me with mixed feelings. <<less

Spoiler

The MC (Finn) has a lot of experience in relationships, having dated both men and women, and has had long-term relationships. As for the ML (Albert), from what I understood, he’s only had one previous relationship with his ex, who was also his childhood friend.

[collapse]

Finn is grounded and straightforward with his thoughts at first. However,
Spoiler

as he gets more involved with ML, his personality takes a shift, and he starts showing a noticeable neediness at times. But who wouldn’t lose it when they’re on the edge of burnout from working too much and still must deal with more relationship drama on top of that?!

[collapse]

The ML isn’t much of a talker.
Spoiler

He didn’t even communicate much with his ex (Noah). The ex even mentions this in a conversation with the MC that, despite being friends and having dated the ML, he was always closed off, even with him. So seeing the ML crawling after the MC after so long being the misunderstood misanthrope was amazing. Because seriously... more than three years to realize it? That’s too much.

[collapse]

The ML’s parents are great.
Spoiler

Not only did they save Noah from Finn’s madness when he locked him in the room, but one of the dads also gave the ML a lesson for being so clueless and letting Finn suffer from the nasty rumors going around about him and his ex.

[collapse]

I think forgiveness came way too fast, but honestly, I’ve dropped stories where the MLs make the MC’s life a living hell with all sorts of ab*se and then act like nothing happened. Here, at least, it was a long misunderstanding (okay, very long), but at least in the end, it’s forgivable. Maybe I’m just trying to convince myself of that... ignore this part. <<less

The premise is promising though.

But MC forgive the ML too quickly and easily. For me, I won't accept ML's reasons for ignoring MC.

Also, MC fall in love with ML too quicly. I don't see any valid reason besides bcs ML is handsome. MC said that, with his president student council ex, he fell in love with the personality, not just face. But I don't see it here though? He really just fell in love with ML bcs of his face for sure.

Oh and, I think ML changed tooooo drastically. He... more>> was cold and silent, but in the next chapter (or I think in the latter part of chapter?), he suddenly changed into understanding, warm, and full of sweet words. I almost think our ML is being kidnapped and got swapped lmao.

An okay read, can be read very quickly, but not fulfilling. <<less
