The beginning of this novel is a bit slow, and there is definitely at least one extremely contrived plot device around episodes 35-40 that makes me roll my eyes a little, but starting around episode 45ish really picks up and just keeps getting better. Jun really becomes a protagonist I want to cheer for, and the supporting cast is stuffed with colorful characters I also root for (bonus: no pining second MLs, just a puppy crush or two and a cast of people fondly and exasperatedly shipping their dense commander... more>> and even more dense vice commander)

The world-building is fun, the supporting cast (which has men AND women with distinct personalities and roles to play!) is well-rounded and engaging, the romance is both funny (they are both very dense about romance) and enjoyable when it finally pays off. It’s all nicely tied up and explained in the end, and is just a super satisfying read all around.

Part of why I love Jun is that after a brief, early bout of self-deprecation, she bucks up, makes a plan, and commits to it, and from then in she’s extremely competent and self-assured, confident and comfortable in her abilities in a world that looks down support mages. In her own way, she’s overpowered, but in a way that requires she rely on other people and I love that she embraces and revels in her opportunity to be a kingmaker and get her revenge while doing it. It’s kind of a refreshing variation from the usual ‘OP protagonist does everything by themself’. Like, the ML, or heck, any member of the dungeon corps really, could physically beat her in a fight with one eye closed and one arm behind their back, but there is no doubt who the real powerhouse is, and Jun knows her own worth and holds that standard proudly.

This is one of my favs, and I’ve re-read it more than once! <<less

Very slow burn, almost not a romance because of it.

The story focus on characters (FL, ML and sides) and a bit on the world building. It was involving enough to keep me going, but not to keep me invested.

It's modern on the sense that there is no male and female roles or prejudice. The ML is very passive, the FL is the one that dictates the relationship and what ML does even in what was supposed to be his job, his function is to be physically strong and hers to... more>> be the brains.

Spoiler

Who defeats the demon lord becames emperor. The ML defeated the demon lord and asked the FL to be the emperor in his place, everyone agreed to it.

[collapse]

Overall not bad, but not great.

The FL is a bit of a Mary Sue and the driving point of the story (to defeat the demon lord) never felt like high stakes (we were told he has to be defeated and that everyone wants that, but dungeon breaks happend only at the beginning (many years ago) and now the danger is under control, not to mention they are the source of power (XP, artifacts and magic) to the world so...). <<less

It's nice, the FL is smart and makes sure she reaches her goals. The ML is powerful and he doesn't really let his trauma interfere with his goal. I haven't read to the point of romance, but I can say they're cute. Especially with the way they both try to help each other. They might not be completely to my taste but they are nice together. I don't think there will be a 2nd ML and I kind of understand the comedy tag. Since she's favoured by the ML, it... more>> created rumours of them being lovers. And whilst helping him with magic, she had to go to the priest (can't remember his name) to get healed at midnight. Then, some people who saw them caused rumours. In the end, she called him second lover. <<less

I haven't read anything this good in a while. I even binge read the whole thing 🤣

It's got great balance between romance, adventure, and fantasy—like, the story gave us enough fluff with interactions between Jun and Mayer. But also, we can see how she's as strong-willed as she presents herself to be and just as capable as others, even as a support mage—both in her previos round expedition and the next. The adventure and fantasy? *Chef's kiss* decent and interesting enough to keep you wondering, and things get revealed and... more>> resolved in the end. I've got no problems with the lack of tension and boring villain that some might mention, because honestly, I wasn't expecting much from a rofan with a tinge of adventure. This one proved me wrong though, so I thoroughly enjoyed the ride. And! Not to forget the comedic aspect of the story, which made the whole read lighter and easier to digest.

Again, very very satisfied. Highly recommended. 5/5 (I'm generous haha)

Spoiler

The darker side of me kinda wished she stayed dead. Would've made things more interesting. LOL But I guess Mayer WAS pitiful and that getting Jun to live again was author's way of making him happy. Also, we wouldn't have gotten to see the twins if that didn't happen. So thanks for that!!

I really love this story!!

The FL is strong, ambitious, talented and believes in herself!💓❤️‍🔥

The ML is STRONG, and also really cute☺️

... more>> The characters are also pretty good and each one of them has its own personality and characteristics which made it really easy for me to tell them apart😌

If you like FLs with really REALLY strong personalities then this novel is definitely for you!👍

p.c.: there's not that much romance in the main story cause the FL focuses on becoming stronger and making the people she cares about also stronger.

I'm not sure about the side stories cause I didn't read them🫣😳 <<less

Almost done and got to say this series was nice that it really put in perspective of support role part in dungeons. How they are unappreciated while they also guide in background.

I’ll be honest. I’m a full time isekai romance reader. If the romance is to slow or not really there I won’t read a story. But I had this on my maybe list for months taking it off and stumbling back to it, and when I finally decided to read it I found it to honestly be such a good read

It’s very entertaining. The MC is smart but also well portrayed on not believing in herself on relationships because of her past. It’s so well done. And there is constant... more>> cute moments between the MC and the ML that even though the romance is slow it’s still so enjoyable. I was skeptical about reading this but it’s so interesting and well done. <<less

All manhwa story starter kit in one pack.

Even though a little bit cliche template, the story has a plot and the development of characters are good (except the ML, he's already OP from start).

It's kind of short, worth to read when commuting.

I think the author might be actually mentally challenged

It doesnt take a high intellect to do the basic math, if you have a party of 10 people and you can do a 30% buff, that means you alone increase the parties efficiency as much as 3 others members combined

Yet for some reason idiot MC lets people sh*t on her and for some reason people dont like having someone in the party that will buff and heal them without demanding anything in return

So its hard to take her problems seriously, she... more>> could just not buff them in a dungeon once and either they would change their tune or they wouldve proved to be so obscenely s*upid she shouldve kicked them out of the party anyway

And then we have the protag, who to save I guess a day choose not to recruit the doormat idiot buffer who will work like a s*ave, massively benefit his team and let them treat her like sh*t with 0 demands

That means he is also just completely and utterly mentally subhuman

MC also instantly assumes he betrayed her like this, which was right, but she shouldve guessed that the ML showing up out of nowhere and protag not doing so should mean he blocked the protag from showing up, because thats the obvious way that wouldve turned out, but no she makes the dumbest inferance and it turns out to be right, because shes dumb, the protag is obscenely dumb and the author is dumb <<less

Read most of this on an official platform and finished with the translation from here.

This story is pretty good for a fantasy-medieval setting. You have the FL who is a bit of a brainiac, the ML who is a crouching yandere hidden sweetie, and an antagonist who thinks he is the greatest thing since sliced bread. Throw in some regression drama and you have a rather nice story that fits with a "in-a-game" setting.

It's not the most awe-inspiring plot or writing out there but it's rather enjoyable. Especially the parts... more>> about:

Spoiler

The fact that the main three characters remember the previous lifetime as that's part of how the plot worked in the game (just with the FL also getting the memories despite not being an actual character from the game). And the fact that the ML's personality is a 180 from the first time around because he experienced the betrayals according to the plot and watched his friends die (he chooses not to be close with them this time around so he doesn't have to suffer). The FL interfering in things does make him open up again but only to her. It's rather cute.

[collapse]

Spoiler

The ending revelation that the real "big bad" had set everyone up by infusing part of his soul into the person who was supposed to be the hero. Which meant that the goddess of that world now focused on the FL to help stop the utter destruction of everything.

[collapse]

There is a very sweet moment in the end of the story that I won't spoil but the ending of this does feel satisfactory. We find out what happened to the original owner of the FL's body, why the hero is batsh*t insane and why the ML acts the way he does. We also get some hilarious moments that fit with the characters.

Spoiler

Like the super strong ML terrified that he'd hurt the FL so he doesn't do the deed with her until she convinces him to. And then it involves drugs and chains. It's a lot funnier than it sounds.

[collapse]

All in all, a pretty good read for a day. <<less

First the good. MC is fun, reasonably active, competent and smart. ML is fine and there is a good number of interesting side characters. The overall premise is also pretty enjoyable.

Now that bad. The pacing. As of c99, nothing has been done. Our MC still sits in the ML organization base and is yet to venture out to get any achievements. Next, repetitiveness. The number of times a side character went 'Wow, captain is doing X (handholding, complimenting, etc.) ! He never done this before!' for a paragraph or so... more>> and then FL retorted 'no, it can't be' is probably above 50.

Next, I personally have a problem about handling 'stigma against enchanter supports.' The way the abilities are presented, it's completely justified. It is 100% not worth to bring support mages like our MC into dungeons. Numbers are just too low and there doesn't seem to be buffs that can affect the entire party. It can only benefit parties with hypercarries like ML or OG ML, but then all the glory inevitably goes to hypercarry which brings us back to step one.

Edit: gets much better after c100 when things finally start happening. C100 by first translator, so about c60 by second translator. <<less

I don't know why this story was marked as "completed" because the translation was still on going for the side stories. Well, at least the main story was finished.

I enjoy this story because the storyline and the world building was good enough but if you love adventure novel very much, maybe you would be a little disappointed because the adventure wasn't very detailed except for the final battle. The story focused more on MC's relationship with people around her and how she established herself in the Black Night.

If you want... more>> to find some romance, maybe you would be frustrated because the romance was very slow and both MC and ML were a bit dense. It took more than third quarter of the story before they got together so don't expect much from romance department.

But overall, this story was still enjoyable to read so I don't mind giving this full stars. <<less

I just love all the tropes in this novel so much. We have the overprotective male lead, selfless but still smart MC, and the antagonist who gets what he deserves in the end.

I really enjoyed how even though Jun is selfless and totally willing to risk herself for the sake of others it’s only for the people she especially cares about. She doesn’t go risking herself in situations that she isn’t sure that she is going to still be safe if the end except for once. The ending was predictable... more>> but the writing was good enough that I still cried. <<less

Meh it's 50/50 great ln if you're looking for adventure story. Not great if you're looking for romance. Because it happens like in the last what? 20 chapters of a 180 something ln.

Jun and Meyer have a coworkers to lovers relationship where they are squad captain and vice captain first, sort of friends who respect each other later and fall inlove way way way after their dungeon closing goals are done with. Sort of like the CEO and CFO who say they're too busy for love because the company needs... more>> to become a fortune 500. And AFTER their career goals are achieved. Then ok, they've been inlove all along. They're dating now. Which is mightily convenient if you ask me.

But as an adventure story I highly recommend. I was invested in the world building and the elite squad leveling up and all the secondary characters going from underdogs to elite superstars.

I just forgot this was supposed to be a romance. Because the title is 100% right. She is NOT the lover of the final boss. There's actually very little loving written in this story. She's his comrade, his vice president, his ally. I honestly find it baffling that people in the story would think she's capable of having a romantic anything. Because like seriously, nothing about the FL indicates she's capable of romantic attraction to ANYBODY. An as*xual being who lives for the job. Why do people think she's got a lover?. Which honestly is a little ridiculous with the almost asexually monk like attitude the character was written <<less

Its a really slow romance - not much romance here so far actually, so this novel is more to the adventure side. But still its a good read. Its well written and well translated. I actually love the plot and yeah it got me curious about what will happen in the end. Can't wait for the next updates~

p.s: i'll edit again later when I reach the ending

----------

... more>> Finally finished reading this. My conclusion: I love this novel until the end!

This is a novel full of adventure, exciting fiction stories about dungeons and demon war. Slow romance, but really, it was a beautiful love story between the two. Would totally recommend this novel!

Btw, thank you for the author and the translation team for this novel :) <<less
