In the world of comedy anime, I was living an ordinary life until I became possessed by a dark fantasy novel I was reading before falling asleep.

‘Hahaha! Don’t hold a grudge -..!’

‘Ugh, cough cough…seriously…my clothes are ruined.’

‘…!?’

Though I was stabbed in the stomach, I calmly stood up and pulled out the spear. Originally, residents of the comedy world are a race that can be torn into 100 pieces and still come back to life the next day.

‘Stop it! Stop now! How long do you plan to sacrifice me?’

‘No…I mean..’

‘I’ve become strong to protect you…what have I become?’

Residents in the comedy world are just a race that vomits blood even if they stub their toe. I never made any sacrifices..but my delusion deepens and my obsession grows.

One day, while I was half-imprisoned and taking care of some pitiful kids…

‘Are you the boss?’

‘Excuse me?’

Before I knew it, I had become the behind-the-scenes boss of a huge underworld organization.

The MC's toonforce power is unique and the MC applies it in interesting ways, but the ending is disappointing—the author likely didn't know how to continue the story because the MC is incredibly overpowered.

Hilarious concept, executed well so far. Still early on but I think it has potential. Only issue I had was that the MC kept calling his past life as specifically "Gag-anime world" which felt super awkward to read, but I guess the author also felt it was awkward to write since it ended up being changed to gag-filter by the MC since he thought it was a mouthful. I think that happened in chapter 4 or 5 so you would have to deal with the awkwardness until then though.

This novel is a character-driven story where the core focus is on following an absurd entity plopped into a grim world with the word "ball-aching angst" plastered on its face.

So, why do I say it's character-driven? Well, the main plot points follow on having this character build relationships with s*aves and the tortured, where this guy has the inherent trait of 'trivializing' the world's suffering. Whenever he is around everything tends to become okay, and in a way it is a rather light read to watch the guy better the... more>> lives of those around him.

However, this in itself wouldn't be that entertaining. Making the suffering of the world non-existent negates the point of the world in the first place (and its conflict). With this reality the novel employs extensive use of different POVs to showcase the jarring divide between how the residents of the world see reality, and how the main character sees reality.

One end of the stick is a jovial positiveness where no pain exists with a constant gag filter applied, and that nothing ever becomes really that bad. At the other end we have his benefactors witnessing the cruel world trying its hardest to crush the main character, to steel him in pain, to torture, and at every end and every adversity he merely smiles it off and continues his unrelenting goodwill towards them.

This divide is the core of the novel, and although it is not a new storytelling method, it is executed with a level of grace that I find difficult to witness anywhere else. The characters hold a level of depth that makes their relationships interesting to explore, and both views of the same story bring unique elements forward.

This isn't a serious novel. But it still has serious and impactful scenes. In essence, it is a well-done gag novel and that is not an easy thing to do. <<less

I read mtl.

This story is great. I love it.

It balances comedy and tragedy very well.

MC is a nice guy, he cares about his friends. Their lives are very difficult in that demon conquered country.

Lian is a gag character who is reborn into a dark fantasy world. Gags characters are able to withstand immense forces and crazy situations. For example, bleeding buckets of blood is nothing if it is for a joke. Dark fantasy is a genre that contains dark themes such as despair, tragedy, and failure. Mashing both genres together brings out a fun story.

I recommend reading this for the reactions of villains meeting an unbeatable main character with the gimmick of only seeing and experiencing the world with comedy gags.

I read the... more>> chapters on Cyborg-TL's website. The ending felt rushed. I will not spoil anything, but I felt that Lian attained an important thing too quickly. I did enjoy that Lian got a happy ending. <<less

This novel is a rollercoaster with lows and highs.

It starts strong with the MC being a character from a world of slapstick humor (ala Looney Toons) reincarnated into a dark fantasy setting. The enjoyment comes from the dissonance between the absurdity of his existance vs the everpresent misery of the world, all while trying to protect a group of orphans.

Things start going south at the start of the Coliseum Arc. Long story short, due to shenanigans, MC is captured and forced to participate in a Coliseum where he meets the... more>> Heroine and a Demonic Sword; the problem is that the MC is stuck there when he knows for a fact the orphans are in danger: the only reason they weren't sold or killed was for a deal he made, instead the guy is like "this place isn't all that bad, you know?".

Then it starts picking up speed again when MC and Heroine move to reunite with the orphans, right until the moment they start living with them. You would think this is a perfect opportunity for some interaction between characters but no. At the beggining, the relationship of the MC and the orphans was akin to a father taking care of his children but after their separation the roles reversed, having a bunch of children taking care of his senile father that can injure himself with a spoon (MC), not helping this is the MC passing out like 5 times through this Arc. Is not really enjoyable for me, as the humor is just the MC getting injured or passing out while the children loose their heads worrying about him, then MC devolves into a romcom protagonist. The trope has always being a subject of mockery, playing it straight makes sense in context (being an asian cartoon and all that) but is still annoying.

Is at the 100 chapter mark that the author remembers he put a plot in place, making the MC and his group leave their HQ to the few kingdoms holding the Demon Lord's army back and it starts getting fun again but after the drag that were the last 2 arcs, its just ufffffffff.

Personally, I would have cut the lenght of the last 2 arcs in half or at least use the chapters to flesh out the character because in retrospective none are really interesting. MC is just a Looney Toon in human form, the Heroine is a kuudere (only holding back of making MC a father because she thinks they're family, wait until she knows), mandatory best girl that acts cute but is a sly fox trying to get to sleep with the MC, Second Heroine (?) that pretends to be a man (because reasons) and the closest one to get into a relationship with MC, then there's no one really worth mentioning. <<less

A very interesting concept.

It's a story driven solely by the Main Character Lian.

Lian is a resident of a gag comedy world. When he transmigrated into a dark fantasy world, he still kept his gag world rules. So his power is basically enforcing gag world logic. He's OP in an unconventional way.

... more>> Characters are interesting and the author doesn't drag on unnecessary points throughout the story.

If you want to read a transmigration with a unique original concept, then this novel is for you.

The problem with this story is the lack of a proper storyline and the characters appear superficial.

The story is lowkey comedy and feels experimental. There's no actual plot or goal (which could actually be better for this story since MC is that type of character, I mean which gag comedy had a goal or plot?).

Characters start to get annoying, while their concern is in place and understandable, you might get annoyed by how repetitive their characters are, there's no character growth, and that makes them shallow.

Author uses multiple POVs, so we get to see the thought process of characters, but that only happens for when characters get relevant to MC, for example when a character gets attached to MC to an unhealthy degree, we get to see how that came to be, but beyond that point the character is mainly dominated by the mindset of being attached to MC. There's no change in character even after a long time passed, and their mentality from when they were children doesn't change even after they grew older.

However, the story is so well executed that the author might actually have something in mind regarding characters and plot.

I'm putting the novel on hold for now since I got bored, but it's a very great and well executed novel for such a hard concept to implement. <<less

I liked everything from this novel except the romance part, if only they weren't too young for the romance, I would given this novel a 5/5. They shouldn't have rushed the romance or should have started the novel with the characters a little older.

I figured out why the MC refers to his past life as the "Gag Anime World"

Spoiler

It's subtly hinted at that the MC was originally from a normal world but got sent to the so called "Gag Anime World" at a young age. Or at least that's the only explanation for him saying stuff like "I couldn't remember well, but I did know that in a normal world, wounds don't heal easily." Or " Sure, I have a child's body, so naturally. But I've been pure in my past and past-past life too. I didn't want to be pure; I was unfairly purified" there are other examples, but this is about as clear cut as it can get.

[collapse]
also I rate it 7.5/10 so def read it if the concept seems interesting to you. <<less

The concept is unique, but the execution is very disappointing specially the MC. He is very annoying to be honest his hobby is to become experimental subject allowing his master to experiment him without care even he become skeleton and when he revives he serve them like a proper dog. He doesn't kill even the person is maniac that like to mu*der children, eat him alive etc. They just fainted from their own doing but him he just doesn't care and let them be like nothing happen and allow them... more>> to plot on him. Also the villain also very s*upid like that noble the like to mu*der children and like to see them despair he do everything to make Liam despair like let him fight countless of monster in arena, cut his gut or let him fight and let him kill a person. If he really wants to make him despair, why not let his sister fight instead of him or gut her in front of him. Same thing for that devourer that eat him alive to get his power why not eat his sister instead. Anyway the MC is like a Buddha that doesn't kill anybody no matter what bastard they are he just doesn't care because he is unkillable. But what about the children beside him. He is very OP and maybe can escape if he want to but he doesn't do anything instead he become loyal dog to any master he gone and become father to the children he meets he even become fake brother to the female protagonist. <<less
