Shen Tang, a struggling actress, finds herself transported into the pages of a book as the contracted wife of the domineering CEO, Gu Huai’an.

She doesn’t have to fulfill any wifely duties or do much of anything. All she needs to do is occasionally attend family gatherings and create the illusion of a loving couple. In return, she receives a monthly payment of 5 million yuan and stands to gain 200 million yuan when they divorce.

It's a lighthearted story not too much going on (classic mind reading novel).I like the ML he is ok.

The only thing that makes me uncomfortable is Shen Tang's haters. She didnt even do anything big previously but all they do is hate her or curse her. Its so bizarre and weird I dont know if in reality China fans are like this but that make me angry idk. She cook they call her doing it for attention, when she was gardening they call her liar? Dont even make sense their... more>> hate is so forced.

Why the fck she has to write self-criticism? So absurd is she a child even childs don't do it if they don't want to she is a grown as* woman with a job. Not like he is going to beat her up if she don't. ML don't even say what should she critisize he knows that she don't know the fact that he can hear her inner voice.

This is a simple and s*upid but humorous story. The key part is the Comedy. MC is hilarious and a money lover. That and the ML being able to read her mind leads to many funny parts in the story.

Don't expect some type of profound novel here. The plot is focused on the relationship between MC and ML. Everything else is just extra fluff. There are definitely some plot lines that never panned out (because they were irrelevant to the main relationship) and some side characters that only showed up... more>> momentarily (and probably didn't need to exist tbh). The antagonists exist but don't seem to be a big deal. The "book story" isn't too important.

This is just a story meant to be read casually. Quite fun imo. I recommend to those who want to read something silly and easy.

Five stars because it delivered what the tags and summary promised and the writing wasn't bad. <<less

So.

So far it's not bad. Without infamy and without praise, the main characters are on average pleasant, nothing that makes you scream for eternal love but not unbearably idiotic either.

The story is so typical and full of clichés that it seems written with a cookie-cutter in which only the names of the characters change from time to time, but it's a cliché that works, so everything is fine: classic marriage contract with classic handsome and VEEEEERY rich CEO, workaholic and nice as a frozen pole between the b§tt, typical actress... more>> who is very beautiful, very good, very strong and very adorable with everyone but we don't know why everyone hates her - for the sake of truth at least here we know why everyone hates her, it's the fault of her slimy manager... although I don't understand why an actress's manager would actively work to undermine his own protégé and thus cut off his own possible earnings - and netizens spew hate so randomly (really, Shen Tang could be photographed eating egg soup and after ten minutes this photo would be at the top of all searches on the internet with tens of thousands of comments following from people cursing her because she dare to undermine the integrity of the egg soup.

Not even Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos have all this media exposure and such a following, I think.

... I wish I had a life full of free time like that of netizens in Chinese novels), but then she slowly begins to find friends and support and in the end everyone loves her, even - above all - the ML who should hate her but understands that she is a person different and therefore...

It must be said that unlike other stories here not only the protagonist is a transmigrant, but also the ML and - at least until now - another character are reincarnated which makes the plot slightly different, even if these reincarnations are treated very blandly and superficially.

As said, everything is very cliché and very predictable, but I knew this from the first moment I opened the novel, I read the incipit and among the various TAGS I saw "showbiz", so I'm not complaining, I dug my own grave.

Instead, I complain about the inaccuracies, the names and pronouns that suddenly change (in some chapters Shen Tang suddenly becomes a HE), and above all... the fact that many things are only described, not shown (as also another reader here pointed out) : ST is an actress, right?

Well, we NEVER see her act. We are only told that she is acting, and that she is very good at it. Stop.

Furthermore, as mentioned she is very strong, so much so that she is able to single-handedly take down three men much bigger than her.

BUT we only see her eating and lounging, she has never trained even a moment in all 40 and pass chapters that I have read so far. The only explanation we are given is that "she was strong before transmigrating here and now she is equally strong"... but normally what transmigrates are the souls, not the muscles. They remain the basic, listless, untrained model of the body's previous owner, and don't magically become steroidal out of nowhere.

You have to sweat and work hard to have a trained and strong body, otherwise every idiot would be a national martial arts champion...

But ok, they are plot holes that we are used to when reading this type of story and they don't make the product unreadable, just less interesting and immersive.

Bearable.

However, there are also other minor things that made me turn up my nose, for example...

During a meeting, a colleague from her ST passes her a notebook to get an autograph, her FL notices that it is still completely blank, and giving it back to girl explains that this could trigger misinterpretations. The girl understands and apologizes.

However I don't understans at all.

​And I don't understand not because I'm particularly s*upid - or maybe yes, I don't know. This is not the time to think about it - but because nothing is explained to me as a reader.

In the text it is only read "Shen Tang explains the matter to Xu JiaoJiao" and it ends there, without a single line that makes the reader understand WHY this action, asking for an autograph on a new notebook, could be frowned upon. Is this by any chance part of a shared knowledge among autograph hunters in showbiz that I'm totally unaware of? Maybe, after all I've never collected autographs, just MAYBE an explanation wouldn't have been bad at all.

And then it would have all been extra text, considering that the authors are paid by the line, it would also be better for them to add explanations to invoice more... but instead nothing. Sometimes they repeat concepts for three paragraphs in a row—basic concepts like "The protagonist's bracelet was a gift from her grandmother, but she has now lost it.

Yes, that very bracelet, the last gift from her beloved grandmother, had suddenly disappeared, how was it possible?

The protagonist spent three quarters of an hour staring at her arm, which was missing the thin silver thread decorated with pink and yellow beads that her beloved second-degree ancestor, her father's mother, had given her on her deathbed with her own trembling hands. Oh, the bad luck!" But then when she's totally within her rights to throw in filler text to increase the lines... she doesn't.

Another scene that is incomprehensible to me, when during the filming of a film on the set the protagonist's cosmetics are corrupted by some substances, which after chemical testing are discovered to be glue and jy (spoiler: we will never know what happened or who did it. This subplot, like dozens of others, will forever be lost like tears in the rain).

The protagonist would like to vomit upon hearing of the jy's presence.

My thought was "oh, yeah. I'd probably throw up too if I knew I was smearing this jy on my face... IF I ONLY KNEW WHAT THE HELL JY was."

Ok, my fault again, I'm obviously ignorant on the subject. I search on Google, and I discover that it is a unit of measurement used in physics, but also a clothing brand, an acronym for professional camera models and even an Instagram profile, probably of a Japanese singer.

All stuff that I actually wouldn't want to find in a foundation too, but I still have the doubt. Is this modern slang that I don't understand because I'm a boomer? or maybe something belonging to Chinese culture that the rest of the world is completely unaware of? It's not a big problem, but... an explanation would have been appreciated, also returning to the concept of "let's increase the stock exponentially to make money" expressed before.

All these "con" points put together, outweigh the pros, making the reading pleasant, but easily forgettable and confusing with hundreds of other stories with the same incipit and the same development, unfortunately, causing it to get lost in the limbo of mediocrity.

Last minute addition: embrace yourself, chapters 71-72 will hit levels of cringe that will make your bones melt from your arms <<less

It's incredibly perfunctoray. Don't bother talking about plot holes, there are entire narrative holes. "Shen Tang did the thing" with no effort to describe the thing in the first place. At one point the MC records a conversation for leverage, but the author literally doesn't even write out the conversation. Just that it exists and then MC posts it.

It feels like either the TL is using a version with huge gaps in the draft, or this is the first draft and the author forgot to go back later to fill... more>> in pieces. Kind of a flat and forgettable reading experience when your novel is missing all the actual novel parts. <<less

Its only okay for a casual read without any brains or expectations. FL is kinda ditzy, carefree, and an optimist who goes about her daily life working as an actress to earn money. She’s trying to earn lots of money to support the orphanage where the oriFL is from and also just cause she likes having money. Money helps in life afterall.

The thing is, oriFL’s company exploited her and forced her into plenty of scandals. I wished this story was better written and more fleshed out. It could’ve a great... more>> Shuangwen story / redemption story. FL could have countered all the bad gossip about oriFL and win people over with her acting skills. Unfortunately in this story, it doesn’t reach peak faceslapping. FL does stun people with her strength, and overturns some gossip but she doesn’t actively try to make the situation better. Even the company that exploited her - FL is like “oh well after my contract ends I’ll quit~” but then goes on to take up more roles as the story progresses with a new better agent as well. So is there no downfall of the company that exploited her? Only her ex agent gets sent to jail. Its just not a satisfying revenge/redemption story.

The white moonlight girl who likes the ML drama is also not satisfying to read. All villains are terribly dumb and before they can scheme, they’re already screwed over by the novel universe gods. Like Gu Jianan getting his eggs crushed even before he can scheme to harm the FL. Boring. Not satisfying faceslapping at all.

Romance is also meh. I was waiting for more romantic comedy scenes between FL and ML cause ML can read her thoughts but IT IS SO DULL. Author doesn’t know how to make it funny or make use of this ability!!! The other novel with the same concept Noble Wife Wants No Love makes use of this so much better with actual ML growth.

This story on the other hand fails.

I gave 3 stars cause translation is okay (with some mistakes here and there) and also well, I was briefly entertained anyway. <<less

Its not bad as a funny casual read. Very Clichéd and characters can be kinda cookie Cutter. Thankfully ML got a personality gradually.

It was pretty funny, and also very senseless. If you think too deeply the plot would fall apart. Lots of subplots are abandoned midway and the author likely forgot a few things she'd written before.

Overall its a cute fluff fest. It ended so damn suddenly? Like instead of wasting chalters on some BS, the end could've been written bette but ok.

Rating 1 star - which I reserve for novels that I just can’t bring myself to finish. This would’ve been 2 stars if I pulled myself until the end but I can only give up with just how bland and boring this has turned out. : ( What a letdown. FL and ML seems like interesting individuals but then the story stagnates when it starts focusing on the romance 🫠

Tangtang is very funny and her antiques are also hilarious that's makes ML speechless sometimes ahahaha Getting the gold finger to know Tangtang thoughts is a huge booster for ML. Tangtang/FL also has so many ehem rich thoughts and it's good there's not much misunderstanding. Many characters on Novel, some are just passing charas, some even became friends with ShenTang.

There's a revelation nearing the end on how they can stop ML's mind reading abilities ehe. Anyways the novel was nice and a chill story to read^^do please take note our... more>> FL is focused on raising money lol ML knows FL personality and accepts her as she is. 5 stars for the main story=main couple. Some loose ends on minor charas but not to the point you'll be annoyed cause there's no closure/some passing lil talks. Sample

Well Life is like that. I am also okay that the author didn't introduce any children. Some CN novels likes extending/xtras about some kids of the couple. We know that Fl&ML are good people so for sure they're going to be good parents if ever they will have children <<less

Rated based on enjoyment. Surprisingly fast-paced which I like (there's variety shows and TV series getting filmed but the author doesn't go into too much detail). However the ending falls flat and a lot of things are left unresolved even with the extra chapter.

Its a brainless fluff and silly story. Its quite enjoyable, even some plot keep repeating its a nice read. The only thing is the ending for me. Its kinda rush, in a sense its just abit summary. But well atleast its end well. So don’t ise your brain to process the story just go with the flow. Its a non thinking, smooth plot, cute moments, bit face slapping and silly thoughs. Lol. Tq

I mean the ending was still a good place to stop, and it doesn't really leave anything left unfinished, but it's just slightly unsatisfying that the ending just sort of hits where other stories of this genre would keep going.

My complaints about the ending aside, this story is excellently paced and constant fun the whole way through. It's definitely worth reading if you like this sort of story. <<less

It's cute but there are plot holes that I am hoping to have resolved in the extras. There is only 1 extra in the raws that I read and I'm not sure if the author meant that be the completed ending.
