I released a fantasy novel in another world.

But it seems that the fantasy novel was far too provocative for the people of this world.

“Immediately escort the author to the guest quarters of the imperial palace with utmost courtesy!”

In the end, I was imprisoned.

With a pen and some paper.

Pretty much the same as the other "I wrote 'blank' in a fantasy world" web novels. Protagonist writes something, people say "wow, this is the most amazing thing ever, " and then the protagonist is revered as a transcendent being. The joke is that the protagonist is passive yet incompetent at being passive, the concept of the harem itself, and that people actually enjoy those tr*shy dime-a-dozen-dozen "I was kicked out of the hero's party but am secretly the singular most powerful entity in the universe" stories.

Not the worst thing... more>> ever written, and a couple chapters did make me smile at the absurdity. If you like harems and/or that kicked out of the hero party trope, I'd recommend giving it a shot. For me, the harem was being set up as too integral to the story before even a second member was introduced, and the protagonist set up as too... arbitrary? Weak-willed?... Cringe? If you give the first handful of chapters a try you'll know what I mean. Anyway, things were set up too uninteresting for me for how not very funny it was, so I decided to stop. <<less

While it might seem like this novel is "I write modern webnovels and everyone reacts positively to them and a literature revolution starts" type, it doesn't go into that direction, at least not yet as of 26 chapters read. In fact the title is hugely wrong, or at least doesn't explain what the original KR title really is.

후피집 is a Korean slang with three meanings combined, Regret (후회), Emotional Ruin (피폐), Obsession (집착), and it's usually after mistreating or losing the protagonist, and this style appear regularly in romance fantasy... more>> settings (Examples, The main heroines are trying to kill me, Damn Family).

What's going to happen if you write the 후피집 narrative style in an isekai world? Causing Regret, Emotional Ruin, and Obsession to the citizens, and saying "Yeah guys, I'm not writing any more (because I earned enough money). I look forward to the advancement of literature. Two thumbs up, I support you."

What, MC's getting imprisoned for it? Deserved (in some people's eyes).

And aside from that? His books are turning into some kind of prophetic novels; scenes described in his novels turn into real-life scenes.

Fictional hero gets betrayed in Book 1? A real hero who got betrayed appears.

Fictional Jack-of-all-trades support gets thrown out of party who goes on to fight a demon contractor? A real Jack-of-all-trades appears and fights a dark mage who wants to contract a demon.

And they are plausibly explained by dark mages who are using his books because their goal is to absorb emotions via rituals, and these books are drawing the populace's emotions out. But are people going to stop asking MC to write the 후피집 stories despite knowing how dangerous it is? Nope.

Now is this interesting or written well enough to keep reading? Maybe. While the settings are standing out from the standard KR formulas, I'm not exactly sure if this is something I'll read personally though.

I think I gave a good overview of what this story is about, so go ahead and make your own decision to plunge in or not. <<less

This novel is not to be taken seriously nor should you expect some amazing storytelling and plot-twists. This is one of those novels that are enjoyable for mind numbing reading. You want to relax? Read this. You want to read something nice to pass the time? Read this. You want to giggle and smile but no laugh? Read this.

It's finely translated, except for some pronouns errors that are neglectable, you probably won't even notice. The translation is published in patreon, which will save you any annoying ads that you would... more>> find in any other translation site (I'm not discriminating, but they're annoying.)

If you have doubt in regards to the heroines (such as the princess) you shouldn't.

Spoiler

The novel stablishes from the beginning that the author (MC) and princess know each other since the academy (remember that this story begins after their graduation from the academy), so the princess is already friends with the MC before even the beginning, though the MC doesn't believe that a princess of her stature would like him in that way. And he was really aggressive back in the academy and foul-mouthed, something that he regrets now that the academy doesn'tprotect him.

Besides, she'sjust one of the heroines. Not to say there many and that they just keep coming, just know that each of the heroines has a reason to like him beyond "He was nice" or "he's just so different" or "He's the author of my favorite novel, so I like him!" Nah, each heroine honestly likes him for who he is. And each one is given enough time to feel that their feelings are natural and honest.

[collapse]

Give it a try. Read the first chapter.

The novel doesn't focus on the books he writes, he just gives an explanation so you realize which template of the story he is using (Hero betrayed by the hero's party, Supporter expelled from adventurers party, etc.) The story is more focused in the reaction of the people and the country, which are honestly funny.

Don't expect a masterful work of literature. Honestly, if you're here, you're not looking for something like that, but something entertaining instead.

So give your cultured brain a break, and give this a read.

It's not perfect, but it is worth 10 minutes of your time to try and read the first few chapters to see if you like it! <<less
