Can't believe that this has such a low rating! I enjoyed reading this very much even tho I wasn't really into mecha. XD

Coincidentally, ML's fiance was trying to escape (the engagement with the ML coz ML had become a waste) at that time. After he sabotaged his own spaceship making it crash, he saw the unconscious MC, he gave some of his belongings to MC making it look like he was him. So the people thought MC was the fiance of ML.

- This story is really fluffy with not much drama but has many face-slapping moments.

- The MC is a plant and since he lived a sheltered life with his Master, he doesn't really know much about humans (making him a shameless plant).

- For MC, ML is a piece of soil with abundant energy that's why he keeps touching him... making him look really shameless. But since MC looks really young, ML couldn't really do anything to MC.

I think those that rated this poorly are simply demanding things this story never promised or even attempted to deliver. It tells you right on the tin that it aims to deliver 'comedy, ' fantasy, ' and a 'Naive Protagonist.' By all means, the expectation should be for some shallow, feel-good fluff. And the story delivered; I smiled, laughed, and cooed basically the entire time.

A common complaint is that the MC is too s*upid and childish, but he is literally a PLANT, and he grew up only ever really interacting... more>> with one (1) person — who was an old dude that treated him as a child. His character and personality might be frustrating to certain readers, but those traits still make perfect sense within context. I'd be more concerned if the MC actually did have a good grasp on humans and the society he ends up in. And the story is literally tagged 'Lack of Common Sense, ' so it's not like anyone is going in unwarned. <<less

Higher alien arrived. the aliens love children cuz they have trouble producing one. 4 eggs was born. radical higher alien attacked. 1 of the four babies got abducted. ZL and RS plus friends goes to the higher alien planet, they found the baby. they solved the child birth problem. radical leader attacked. he got beaten. annnd happy ending!!

I rmb why I stopped reading this one.

The MC pure naivety or innocence is just too much for me...... alright, he's just too s*upid. And it cringeds my entire brain to read this kind of MC.

I can accept, too much fluff, too much ridiculousness, too much conflict, etc, I still will finish reading them. But s*upidly innocence 10year old mentality MC? Hard NO.

Even those 3 or 5year old kid from hetero romance story, are alw mature and having out of this world intelligence.

WARNING:

MC is very naive and acts like a child. He physically looks like a 12-year-old child as well, although he is more than 10, 000 years old. But people don't know this and think that he is a 12-year-old kid. ML, although much younger than MC, is already nearly 50. So if you feel weird about seeing a child-like person being intimate with an adult, and everyone around him being okay about it, it's better not to read it at all. Theme:

The theme is pregnancy. No guys, you aren't going to learn any physiological, psychological, emotional, or social aspects related to pregnancy. You will only read how MC is extremely fertile in a world where fertility rate is on the decline. So MC will get pregnant easily, have children, and then faceslap couples struggling to get pregnant but are hostile to him. Of course, he is the only one in the world who has the miraculous medicine to get anyone pregnant. So its 'respect me or never get pregnant'.

Writing:

Writing is very average, in fact, very common as well. You will see this kind of writing in basically most of the Chinese web novels. So if you like some sophisticated writing, you'll be greatly disappointed.

Story:

It's totally s*upid. I don't even know how I read the whole thing. May be I finished it because of the children?

Honestly speaking, as I have already said, MC has a body of 12 year old, but he needs ML's s**en to heal his body. So he pesters ML for it all the time. When you look at it from MC's perspective, it's not actually something weird to ask for, because he is a plant after all. But anyways it's still cringeworthy. So this whole setting author created would have been better if MC looked like an adult.

What is actually disgusting isn't that MC looks like a child but its that ML treats MC like one. During the day time, ML literally carries MC everywhere in his arms like how a parent hold their too-small children, but during the night time, he lets MC give him a handjob, or has s*x with MC. Argh, just imagining it disgusts me. What the hell! He treats MC like a child during the day and gets intimate at night. Talk about disgusting!

But once MC grew and then they went to a different civilization, the story turned better. ML also stopped treating MC like he used to. But sadly, just as it was getting interesting, the story ended.

Characters:

ML is the type that gets jealous of even his parents whenever MC acts close to them. Honestly, I hate this type of character. Even the side characters are more interesting than him. ML is so 2D and this kind of ML can be basically found in every other BL or not-BL Chinese web novels, I was not a bit excited about him. He is f*cking petty. He even stood between MC and his own father to block MC's line of sight because MC was curiosly looking at his father-in law (i.e., ML's father) who had suddenly changed a lot. When ML's mother tried to hug MC, he pulled MC away from his mother. I, in no way, can like a character like that.

MC is the type of character who might be liked by some, and not by others. He is silly and naive but since he is a plant spirit, it definitely isn't weird. He is straightforward and says some things that make people around him wonder if they are the s*upid ones or if MC is the s*upid one. But I actually liked him.

Aside from the small fries, that is, the face-slapping receipents, other characters actually have more personality than ML. I liked ML's mother. I always found her internal struggles hilarious. It's just that the novel focused way too much on MC and ML and some side characters would only show up when they were of some use to MC and ML, it was very frustrating. <<less

I believe the people who gave this a lower rating did so not because of the story's plot or narrative but due to the quality of the translation.

I can tell that Devil Fox is not a native English speaker because (s) he often forgets words like 'an', 'the', 'of' and so on in a sentence. There are also various problems with characters names not being spelled consistently such as Dyno/Dino, and verbs being in their wrong form (ex: 'made' instead of 'make').

The story and plot in itself is really great,... more>> but the lack of a beta-reader is what I have most trouble with, especially since a spell-checker like the one in Microsoft Word could catch at least a third of those errors without the translator needing to go through the effort of finding a beta-reader.

So for those worried about the low ratings this fic got, they should know it's not due to the plot, but due to the translation's quality. <<less

Actually I can understand the feelings of other readers who feel uncomfortable with MC's childish nature.

But, it was a fact that childishness is a natural thing for ginseng spirit.

No matter what kind of story you read, the portrayal of ginseng spirit will never change... Ginseng Spirit will always be portrayed with a childish nature.

... more>> But after all, this is indeed a rare story where ginseng spirit is the main character... usually ginseng spirit will only become a side character who serves as a sweetener in the story.

So I'm not really surprised that are still many people who are surprised by MC's characteristics and can't accept it.

As for the story itself, it's fun to read... and please don't expect too much for the plot, because making ginseng spirit as MC itself already shows that this story isn't a story with a complicated plot. <<less

I'd actually come to this page looked at the summary and read some of the reviews multiple times and decided not to bother with it, but I read 'The Young General's Wife is Mr. Lucky', really enjoyed it and the reviews there said this story is almost identical. I thought about it, went back and forth a bit, before deciding to ignore the summary and give this story a chance, I haven't regretted it. The thing to keep in mind is that the main character is not human and has... more>> spent a very long time without dealing with humans and never felt a particular need to understand human sensibilities after he did start dealing with them. I read quite a few reviews about how s*upid the main character is and in some senses I agree that he is dense in certain aspects, but he's a plant he never thinks of himself as anything other than a plant so a fair bit of that is because he can't understand and the male lead has what he can look up on parental control

It is a good story and I have enjoyed it, though I think I still prefer 'The Young General's Wife is Mr. Lucky', because the luck aspect is fun and the Koi has a better understanding of humans so things move a little more naturally (is that the right word? Probably not). This story came out before it and is definitely worth a read, but only if the tags are things you're interested in. <<less

Yeah I can't do it... the MC is a child, point blank period. The author can put "he's a 10, 000 years old" in all they want but the MC behaves of a little kid. He's naïve, he has no awareness and physically looks like a child.

he doesn't feel like an adult, much less a 10, 000 year old being. There's a difference between an adult having a child-like carefree wonder for a new world and a child. Its clear upon reading that he has the mind of a kid.

Reading... more>> the lines where the ML admits to becoming sexually aroused to him makes me sick, watching all of the characters treat him as a kid, buy him toys, cartoons and then feel okay sexualizing him is just... ew ew ew

As of reading or rather dropped I failed to see any tags about this, the only tag relevant is "younger love interests" but I don't think that really discloses the fact the MC acts like a kid. <<less

This novel is about an OP ginseng spirit that gets married to a general on the brink of death. The plot itself isn't that bad to be honest, but there is one thing that is highly uncomfortable, which is what most people have talked about here.

The MC looks and acts like a child. This is CONSTANTLY repeated. He wears clothes that are meant for children. He watches cartoons. The adults talk about how he looks like a child. The adults even bring him toys. This is a classic case of... more>> the 1000 year old loli/shota. Even the translator made jokes about the MC being a legal loli/shota. Despite the MC looking and acting like a child, the ML still shows romantic/s*xual interest in him. It's worth noting that the ML does not know how old MC is.

The novel treats this as a joke. Even when the MC starts to look slightly older, there are still jokes about ML being essentially a child predator. I cannot stress how badly this plagues this novel.

Also, I think I have to mention this: although the MC is much, much older than the ML, it genuinely does feel like the MC is a child mentally. It is incredibly uncomfortable to read this novel knowing that the ML's family treat MC as a child and the ML sees the MC in a way that would be incredibly inappropriate for a child. I can almost guarantee that if you changed some numbers around, this novel would be so so much worse.

Edit: I forgot because I censored this from my brain, but our shota MC requires human fluids for some plot reason or another. I'll give you one guess as to what that fluid is and how he gets it. <<less

I honestly have no idea how exactly to categorize this novel. Is it interesting? It is. Is it fluffy? Most definitely. Is it supremely hilarious and hands down spoofing all sorts of bl clichés? Well, yeah it absolutely is! I had a lot of fun reading up to now and I hope it does get translated further, cus MTLing is kinda hard to understand.

I also absolutely love the cute ginseng spirit. He is op on all sorts of ways. Oh, and soooo adorable.

Okay so. There are a lot going on in this review section.

Because of this, I'd like to emphasize the fact that I've missed this endearing novel for a very long time because of some st*pid and malicious low rating reviews!

What?! The MC is a child? Ya'll are completely ignoring the fact that the MC was not a human and thus having a very different outlook of life than us, he eats differently, rests differently and of course talks and acts differently! He is not a child, only particularly unaccustomed to... more>> our human society. It was always hinted in the novel that MC is falling inlove with ML and also actively wants to do this and that with ml, fully understanding the meaning of such action. What, the ML is a disgusting pe*vert pe*o? ML intentions with MC has always been layed out in the very beginning, they thought that MC was just a teenager thus ML was planning to let the MC grow and educate him. ML said that when the MC grew and still wants to marry him, then they would marry. ML is smart, he figured out MC identity and made a lot of effort to understand MC in order to protect MC well. What, the MC is s*upid?! Being ignorant doesn't mean being s*upid. MC was very ignorant of the human society at first, thus he acts in a very naive/dense way. But MC didn't remain stagnant for long, he learned and later understood it quite well, ML also helped him, ML would ask MC what he thinks so as to understand mc's reasons and teach MC if he did or say something inappropriate because of mc's ignorance.

MC and ML are not perfect from the start, but they are both learning from each other and made a great effort to understand each other. Isn't that how a relationship progress? I think bcs of some reader's biases here, they failed to grasped the whole context and just focused on some parts. Authors way of writing wasn't particularly great, so you really has to analyze the lines and understand it. Particularly the mc's feelings towards the ml, there are lines that'd imply mc's already falling inlove towards the ML not just because of the energy within the ml.

Please, when writing a review, don't just put your biases but clearly state out everything. Whether a novel is really good or bad, explain it properly. Or don't write a review if you hadn't understood the whole plot. <<less

MC is infatalized sm, it makes it wierd and uncomfortable. Tbh the naive and innocent trope was never my fav but it can be done well and guess what, without making the character behave and be treated like a litteral child. From MCs "youthfull" appearance (He looks like what? 13?) and behavior it makes it feel like g*ooming. It's kinda icky, I don't like it. Author tried to give him childlike curiosity and wonder but instead made a 10, 000 year old child. Call me sensitive, I dont care, im not a fan. The stories characters think hes a child too. The plot was mediocre at best and the romance made me uncomfortable. This is just a warning to those that want to avoid a plant shota yk? I know (or at least I hope) MC gains maturity as the story goes on but im not gonna sit through the uncomfy to get there.

This low birthrate interstellar esque world where one of the was to combat said birthrate is procreating with a species which adults look 13 is scary to say the least. Also im pretty damn sure both author and ML have a fetish. Thats the only answer that makes sense to me

tbh I finished reading this when it was translated in 2021, but I recently came back to re-read it since im getting into the plant MC trope again. However, perhaps its cause its my 2nd time reading so im noticing more OFF things or maybe its bc I'm seeing this happen too much in asian bl, especially Chinese novels and Japanese manga.

the trope of having a clear top and bottom is fine, even if I don't really believe in that and prefer switch relationships. However, the way that that bottoms... more>> tend to become super feminized, submissive, clingy characters is a little off putting. And the tops with their romatisized possessiveness is an ick. BUT these are OK, I can deal with it if I like the plot.

unfortunately this novel doesn't just have these tropes, but the MC is specifically described to look 12-13 yo. Up to the point I re-read, they haven't gone all the way, but the almost explicit descriptions of attraction from a grown man to someone that looks 12-13 is very strange, no matter how much they try to play him off as a good person or with humour. Also, they have already done some s*xual acts, horribly enough. Sure, MC is 100000 yo, but he does not act it and is constantly described to look pure, clingy, pretty, and childish.

This is honestly the first novel I read that has given me such a visceral reaction, my body actually felt uncomfortable reading this again so I had to drop it at ch 55ish. I gave it 3 stars bc I did enjoy it 2 years ago, but perspective changes things. <<less

Characters: I like MC. Yeah, he is kinda silly but it matches his background. He is a gingseng spirit and only interacted with his Master and no one else, and basically rarely left his cave, he doesn't know much about the world, so he is straightforward and naive. So the way he acts doesn't feel off.... more>> But what I don't like about this story is basically every character other than MC. Has Chinese web novel market now started to mass-produce characters and sell them to all authors or something? Why are characters of so many novels basically the same? There's this absurdly obsessed ML, whose "gaze turns gentle" only when looking at MC. If you have read a lot of Chinese novels like me, then you might have read this f*cking 5, 000 times already.

And then, the face-slapping receipents. God! Does authors these days have no imagination? Face-slapping feels gratifying, yeah, sometimes it does. But its only when its appropriate. But these small fries provoke protagonists for nothing. Why the f*ck would authors (in general) write stories where other than the protagonists and people they like, everyone else is s*upid? Anyways, basically every character, apart from a few, is 2D, with no personality whatsoever.

Well, some side characters are actually interesting, and have interesting background as well. Sadly, they are just background characters in the novel.

Writing: Writing style is so poor, I wanna cry. Just like mass-produced characters, writing is mass-produced in China. There is nothing unique about the author's writing style. And you'll see sentences like 'his eyes flashed', 'the more she saw it, the more she liked it', 'He looked at this happy scene and was very pleased', 'He did so-and-so, so she liked him even more', 'His eyes were cold but as soon as he saw MC, his eyes turned gentle', 'Can ML actually treat someone that nicely actually?', etc. I don't know about others, but if I see all of these sentences in the same book, I basically declare the book as 's*upid'.

Story: There is no story. The story had just started to get interesting but then it suddenly ends. The story is full of meaningless face-slapping here and there, and some implicit misogyny, and four sons. I don't even want to start about why all these Chinese BL novels only give birth to sons, also multiple sons at the same time. Once or twice is fine, but when every BL book with m-preg tag has sons only, it would indicate something, something not good. (No, don't give me the explanation that two guys can't give birth to a girl, cuz in this book, another gay couple gave birth to a girl.) And yeah, let's get back to the non-existent story. The story is basically hollow. Women have 'status' only when they produce heirs. So the whole time, people jab MC saying things like 'he is a male and can't give birth so he's unworthy of ML', 'ML, I can give birth, so choose me!', 'My advantage over MC is that I'm a female and can give birth!' Half of the book only has this. And second half of the book goes like this: 'Shit! If I had known that MC is this capable, I wouldn't have provoked him!', 'Since you had belittled me last time, I won't sell this ultra-super-duper medicine that only I can make in this whole universe to not only you but your whole family', 'Oh! The baby is so cute!', 'Oh my god! He actually gave birth to 4 ability users! I'm so jealous'. So the whole book ends between people first taunting MC and then envying MC.

Also, I just don't understand some Chinese Novels logic. MC looks like a 12 year old child. How can these people who are over 40 and even over 100 want to pick up a fight with just a child? We normally won't go around hating on a child and provoking him/ her, will we?

Pace: There is not even a story, so do I even need to talk about pace?

Moral: No moral whatsoever. Okay, maybe something like 'Don't ever read this kind of book!' <<less

It was really hard to power through this, because it's written like BL for 5th graders. MC and ML fall in love almost immediately, they're super OP, and everything is resolved in a few sentences.

MC is a little white lotus, or rather, a little white ginseng. Since he's got the mentality of a 13 year old, it was pretty uncomfortable to read about most of his antics, actually.

There's absolutely no imagery, no suspense, nothing really. The author says things happen, so they do. It's really a brainless read. If you want to read something with more substance, read the author's other work, A Guide to Raising Your Natural Enemy instead. <<less

I love it! MC is a very cute ginseng spirit, old in age, mentally young. ML is a heroic Marshal who defeated the Zerg Queen at the cost of his life and body.
