Infinite Flow Cannon Fodder NPC Just Wants to Stay Alive

Description

Links are NOT allowed. Format your description nicely so people can easily read them. Please use proper spacing and paragraphs.

There are many types of NPCs, including: black NPCs responsible for executing players, white NPCs who stand by and watch, and an unlucky clue NPC which is specifically responsible for providing clues with their deaths.

Players want to kill clue NPCs to get key information. The dungeon boss also wants to kill the clue NPC to obtain crucial items to become stronger.

Unfortunately, as soon as Mu Sheng entered the horror game, he played the role of this kind of brainless clue NPC.

As soon as the system enters the game: 【It is recommended that the player behaves low-key and changes their cannon fodder character to increase their chances of survival】

Mu Sheng curiously asks: 【How much can it increase?】

System: 【According to calculations, from 0% to 0.1%】

Mu Sheng: “What’s the difference?”

System: 【Die a little slower】

Mu Sheng: “…”

Players of the horror game find that the NPCs in this dungeon seem somewhat abnormal.

When a player violates the rules and the black NPC has mutated and is about to execute the player—

Footsteps approach.

It’s the ordinary NPC that players have been paying attention to since entering the dungeon:

Bad-tempered and not very bright, except for that face that seems useless but inexplicably captivating.

The monster suddenly stops moving, its appearance changing from horror to normal in an instant.

It turns its head, its appearance returning to handsome: “Sheng Sheng, why did you come over?”

The “ordinary NPC” Mu Sheng speaks naturally and imperiously, asking, “What was the commotion just now?”

Behind Mu Sheng, the black NPC reveals a terrifying appearance again.

But its answer to Mu Sheng is still gentle: “Of course… nothing happened at all.”

It stares coldly at the players, with undisguised killing intent and threat in its eyes.

Players suddenly remember a rule in the horror game that hasn’t been relevant for a long time:

Ordinary NPCs shouldn’t be aware that they’re in a strange dungeon, or they will collapse and then disappear.

This is probably a story about a clue NPC who wants to survive and be happy, so he tries to maintain his character as an ordinary NPC to blend in and eventually become the darling of the crowd (of ghosts).

Upcoming dungeons:

【The arrogant and insolent follower who Flatters superiors, bullies subordinates, trying to have the best of both worlds】

【Having a cold big brother above, a rebellious little brother below, a cold and violent boyfriend, and a semi-blind and cowardly bottom with occasional eye problems】

Reading instructions:

1)Pretend to be a s*upid cannon fodder, the protagonist has some intelligence, but cannot surpass the author’s.

2)The protagonist has a condition, is a Mary Sue but not in the traditional sense, enjoys changing others’ destinies for fun, to some extent can be said to be a selfless selfish person, and will use the convenience of NPC identity to save people.

3)Adored by many (ghosts), very Sue, and everyone likes him. From the beginning of this story, it seems like “love at first sight” effect, if unable to accept, please refrain from entering.

Good novel, some parts jumped around and were not super seamless (but I was also reading the mtl, what do you expect?). The ending was sort of sudden; would have preferred a longer and more fleshed out world-building, and quite a few loose ends were left hanging.
Spoiler

What was the "Demon King's" curse about? What was up with the world Mu Sheng thought he came from? Was it an instance? If so, where were the players? What was up with the "envoy"/"messenger" players?

[collapse]

Otherwise, the novel was good. Well written, interesting arcs. My main gripe was that there were only 3! I wanted more arcs, more to read! It's really good, and I was disappointed it ended that quickly. Imma be seeing what else this author has now.

EDIT: just from looking, the author seems to be newer. They have good ideas, but trouble executing them. Which makes sense, imo.

I expected something much more brainless and shallower, the typical "all bosses love MC and turn the horror novel into a braindead pampering sweet text".

While it is to some extent, MC isn't really a helpless virg*n Mary, there's a bit of a twisted edge that I like very much because it separates him from the usual template.

I've only read one instance but so far, it's not just that all bosses and NPCs love him, he actually green-teas his way through the game by using NPC fractions and bosses against each... more>> other.

That's something I haven't seen before and greatly enjoy.

Maybe the novel really tanks later on, like many do, but up to this point it's an okay read if you can stand the cons.

One star less because there are a few inconsistencies and logical errors, they did make me stop for a second but aren't important enough to sour the whole experience - for now.

It's worth mentioning that the writing style sounds like the writer is very young, a lot of sentences are wasted on repeating how good-looking the MC is, how white his skin, how slender his wrists, and (even homophobic) NPCs lusting after every inch of exposed skin.

The sexualisation is pretty serious and gets quite uncomfortable after a while, for that I shaved off another star.

Try it if you like the tropes mentioned in the description and are into not-so-serious horror.

Leave it if you want 100% consistency, the writer already showed clearly that they can't do it and I expect it to get increasingly worse when they have to keep track of more and more established lore/facts, or if you like a more mature, less fetishised "Fujoshi BL" kind of writing style. <<less
