Taking the Sword Heroes game system with him, Xiào Mu transmigrated into an interstellar world. Then he became a guide who has waste level physical strength but OP spiritual power. While trying to improve his spiritual power, activate skills, and make medicine… He unknowingly became a heartthrob in the hearts of the imperial sentinels.

Leo, the youngest major general in the empire, has rejected the Golden Tower’s matching suggestion for the 102nd time, stated, “Instead of marrying a weak chicken guide, I would rather live with inhibitors for the rest of my life!”

Leo is the only single sentinel in the empire who has SS level in both physical and spiritual power. He hates wastes and disdained weak chickens the most. Later, he fell in love with Xiào Mu, the weakest person in the empire in terms of physical strength.

Xiào Mu’s daily routine after work: Sorry, the appointment for spiritual treatment this week is full, please come back next week.

The assistant glanced at the terminal: Boss, quickly come to your senses! The appointment for treatment has already reached 2 years later.

Leo’s daily life after falling in love: You want to pursue Xiào Mu? I’ll see you at the challenge arena!

Definitely a 3.5 stars, but I rounded it up to 4.

Since it's not super clear in he summary, the premise of the story is that Xiao Mu isekais into the interstellar sentinel/guide world but in the body of the character he created in a Chinese MMO (that is not related to the world he transmigrates to).

From there, he finds out that he has an OP game interface system only he can see and that he's a guide. Only problem is that guides are super protected by the gov't--to the point... more>> that they're basically kept captive in the Golden Tower until they're matched (married) to a sentinel. Unwilling to give up his freedom, Xiao Mu has to keep his guide powers secret while trying to fit in and make a living in this new world he's in. But meeting Leo and their 100% match rate makes it a bit harder to keep his guide abilities in check.

The story is super interesting but it really tanks after he gets together with Leo. Before then, it was focused on how to change the world's opinion that guides were fragile and only good for one thing, which was super interesting. Up until that point, Xiao Mu also had to balance his OP system skills and introduce them in a way that it becomes teachable to other guides.

But then all of a sudden it feels like the author starts throwing random cliches and drama for plot. Characters that were well developed earlier were dropped for characters that are so meh and some of them came out of nowhere. Idk, it gets kinda weird imo. Luckily for the novel, I was already s**ked in by the first half of the story that I became invested enough to read until the end.

Overall, the plot is interesting enough to get started with, but it's not that great. Better than a lot of other novels, but kind of frustrating at the drop in quality later. <<less

This is a sci-fi slice of life novel which I found interesting. The ML was a jerk in the beginning and the MC had enough self esteem not to give in until the ML changed. The ML actually did have growth and understood the MC liked to make his own decisions, which was refreshing

I really liked the MC, he had a dream he was working towards and enough flaws not to be too MarySue at first (this changed as the story progressed, so if you don’t like MarySue this may... more>> not be for you). The MC never gave up on his dream and kept working towards it and even convinced the ML to support him

Again, most of the story is MC everyday life, going to work, healing people, visiting friends. That is what I enjoy about slice of life novels

And Banana is the translator which is a huge plus for me

I enjoyed this novel and recommend it if you like slice of life <<less

I finished it but I was bored of it pretty quick. The whole story was meh. It didn’t need to be 99 chapters and there were a number of elements that were just very flat, besides the characters.

  • The MC’s overall goal was achieved too easily, and he experiences very little pushback from the established power players in the story, mainly because he’s both legendary and OP.
  • The MC and the character he supposedly look like, didn’t look alike. The character who he was originally mistaken for had obviously different physical features. So I didn’t really understand the point of that, and it seems to only serve its purpose later on, but still doesn’t make sense because they have certain physical features that are obviously different.
  • Personally, I didn’t understand the purpose of his system or how he levelled up to unlock new medicines or abilities. Also, some of the explanations regarding certain abilities and their consequence (good or bad) were hard to understand or didn’t make sense.
  • Keeping with my issues with the system, there were literally ZERO drawbacks to all the medicines and abilities unlocked (as I understood it and I may have missed something), which fine, OP MC. But it didn’t feel believable.
  • I also didn’t get why the system had cultivation style elements to it. Or why specifically it was based on the game/character he was playing before transmigrating. The world in which he migrated to didn’t even have cultivation elements involved, to make sense for the way the system was set up. So it was an odd choice to me.
  • The world-building was lazy, especially because the main conflict is related to the existing social organization of the world, but it’s barely addressed. This also ties into how the MC basically forces societal change with little resistance, mainly for personal gain but also to the benefit of other guides. The only major resistance comes the main villains, all the other entities who should be throwing up road blocks aren’t. Well not any that last, as the MC is OP and connects quickly with a powerful backers unintentionally which seems to negate almost all of his issues.
  • The sentinel/guide trope is really only there to justify the OPness of the MC and ML. If you want the lore–of any kind–associated with this trope this is not the story to look for it in.
Tbh, it’s enough to kill time if you want to... more>> engage in mindless reading, and don’t want to pay too much attention to the story. I skipped ahead a lot, though I did read the story from beginning to end, I think you could probably get away with reading every 5-8 chapters and still get the gist of the story. <<less

I know alot of ppl are annoyed by ML. I was too at the beginning! But gradually he got better and he also has expressive problems.

I like the system and MC's goals for this world.

It was a really a step by step to reform.

Instead of Alpha Omega, I like they new concepts of Guide and Sentinel

It was a fun little read and great translation by the translator.

Enjoyable, well written, good pace overall, never boring, a bit cliché at times. I loved that there was instant attraction but not love at first sight and that love grew slowly. Very well done.

A silent r.i.p. To fatty the squirrel forgotten midway through the story and completely useless overall. Nobody cared for him anyway 😹 I only noticed after a few hours after I finished the novel.

The plot is actually nice. Its just that, the ML started as arrogant and bullied the MC.

Then he became someone who follows the MC like a jerk.

Its not that its annoying, but it is indeed annoying haha!

Even the MC WAS ANNOYING.

So I won't fully recommend this one to those who doesn't have the patience to tolerate the both of them haha!

This is the second story I've read about Guides and Sentinels, along with their Quantum animals and beast shaped mechas. I'm curious if these stories are based off of a game or another story.

In this story, it's focus is on a pediatrician who used to play some sort of wuxia game. Somehow he ends up in this futuristic story with the game system in his head. He also looks like the player he was playing in the game as well. Unfortunately, he looks exactly like a character who has been... more>> kidnapped in this new world. So he gets involved in a plot of mistaken identity.

Honestly, I liked the plot, but romance felt very forced. While I like to read occasional yaoi as well, I don't think this story was written too well. It didn't particularly matter whether it was yaoi or not. Strangely enough, every single couple was male. Only 2 females in the entire story were mentioned briefly at all.

For the majority of the story, the male domineering Sentinel is a jerk and later tries to mend his ways to romance his 100% pairing with the uke lead. However, the uke lead is understandably more concerned about his freedom rights as opposed to any sort of forced romance.

The game system was a nice twist but it did make the main character a bit too over the top OP. Which made the series not have much tension.

Overall, it's an ok one time read. Not too complicated, and most of the plot points are tied up. <<less

I really like the story and how the ML (XM) keep his purpose of medicine making in mind. He always try to make more people realize and cooperate to change the way people look and treat guides.

Spoiler

Like the cooperation to build the company, the contract with other guides also did not seek benefits for the company, when he helped other guides, when he provided free medicines during the beast tide, asking the other planet to promote the new way to treat the guides as a repayment of helping with the beast tide, and other small details

[collapse]

I also agree with what XM said towards the end about the villain and the misunderstanding. You can't really tell who's the wrong one, and there's no if in this world. Tbh, I do pity the main villain (YM).

Finallyyyyyyy, my fav part here is not the main cp, but the side cp instead (it's a little spoiler so I'll just hide it).
Spoiler

I really, trully, very happy for little Greene and Mitte. I think their extra story was just perfect! I'm glad and think this is how love should be, to make people trying to become a better version of themselves. I also think that living a simple and undisturbed live is lovely.

It's a good read. The MC is a big Garysue but I'm okay with that type of MC, though this MC was a little cold and selfish. The ML is an annoying jerk at first but improves, I really despised, but I like when characters improve themselves, everyone deserves a second chance. The side characters arent deep but cute, I did care about their stories. The main villian is an idiot, the sidekick villian is also an idiot but has a little more depth to his character.

Spoiler

some reviews sympathize with the main villian and I don't understand. I think the situation was all 3 fault, like the author said. The sentinel shouldn't have done things behind his lovers back, he was a coward, the guide shouldn't want what isn't his, BUT it's not okay for the villian to kill 2 groups of people because he is heart broken. 🤣 Now I would read a rebirth story with him or sidekick villian. I think the side kick villians story is even more sad, his family was mu*dered. It was all so the other branch could take control, then the main villian finds him as a child and twists his thoughts to the dark side

[collapse]

I only have a few complaints with the story. First there were a couple of things that were forgotten about and contradicted or weren't tied up at all
Spoiler

I mean come on the planet the dad's are found on is obviously earth, but why would the author hint at that then completely drop it

[collapse]

Secondly the last quarter of the novel felt like it was missing something. I can't put my finger on it, but it's like the author wanted to tell more but couldn't/didn't.

Lastly when I do read ABO type novels (I know this isn't exactly ABO but it basically is) I really like reading about their child. I wish there was an extra for the main couple years after with their sentinel daughter (because there seems to be almost no women on this planet) and guide son.

The translation was cleaned up MTL but I couldn't tell, the translator did a great job.

I enjoyed this novel. Maybe because of my preference to OP MCs, I got a bit disappointed that the author set up that he could increase his physical capabilities, but still did not allow MC to breakthrough. Also since his game character was from a martial arts game, there is a surprising lack of martial arts learned except for to escape and run away.

This is very ridiculous. As long as you go into this knowing a) this is ridiculous and b) you see ‘daycare caregiver’ every time the word ‘pediatrician’ is used it’s pretty enjoyable.

I spent a lot of time thinking that paramecium must have some other meaning in Chinese... but it is later revealed that it doesn’t. As a pediatrician is a fully licensed medical professional with eight years of science based post-secondary and 3-4 years of residency, I’m sure a pediatrician would know what a paramecium is.

So, if you read the... more>> MC as a daycare caregiver - also super capable, but a slightly different skill set - it makes more sense.

Apparently, this is my hill to die on ;)

The translation is, I believe, MTL but is easy to follow (I’m not judging- thank you for translating!) Some of the earlier ML dialogue came off as his being a recalcitrant caveman, but I think it was just the translation.

tldr; Ridiculous, but fun <<less

Nice read, sweet and quite fluff. MC has a op system and change the world. ML is tsun and quite like him, (no overbearing, black belly type) lol. A quite cliche genre, but is a relaxing, sweet read. No aghast or heavy dog blood. Just small drama. Tq

I read this thru MTL and its easy to understand so bo worries....i suggest to read the good translation first before reading the mtl if you can't wait for all chapters to be translated cause it will be easier to understand the succeeding mtl chapters if you've read the basic info using the well translated chapters.

story wise it was really good,

pros:

... more>> the fluff was enough, adventure, crafting and character improvement was enough

the dynamics of MC and ML are satisfying for a BL genre

cons:

just like most crafting novel i've read the first few chapters were interesting but it become monotonous after several repetition it wasn't interesting anymore.

The romance of some side couple was just sudden specially the bestfriends like one chapter they still in the I like you but you didn't know stage then all of a sudden several chapter after that they are engage!? like hello!??

Also the conflict was very bland.... some issues was just inserted just to make the story longer like around 90+ anyway you will see when you read it....

Conclusion:

This is a very light novel in my opinion, the conflict won't even leave a mark in your mind as it was very light.... this is a good read after some heavy stuff..... specially since it have a crafting genre so expect a very light vibes in this. <<less

Very cute MC and ML love story. (MC from earth new body learning guide verse trail by fire, ML military leader that keeps meeting/misunderstanding MC in first few chapters. The actually plot: to gain freedom for guides and spread alternative medicine. Some 'game cheat' settings but well incorporated. Side character stories also told.

It's only the 2nd guide/sentinel story I've ever read but I found it really enjoyable

Tbh I started reading it in the middle of the night and the first few chapters read like an edgy parody but it got better over time and turned into a really good story (i read a lot of chinese dog-blood stories so my bar might not be that high, oh well)

I really enjoyed that the story focuses plenty on MC working hard and upgrading his abilities and the romance is not overpowering

I see people... more>> in reviews complaining about that one side couple, y'all are forgetting MC thought their relationship was messy and noone was glorifying the stuff that happened. We got a romance that did not go well and ended well for some but not all. I'm really surprised that if an author adds something problematic into the story suddenly people think that means the story is bad??? I feel it added another dimension to some characters - every couple in this story got together in a different way and the characters weren't 100% good or bad, they had their flaws and made decisions that were followed by consequences.

ML wasn't perfect and started off as a rude narcissist but then again not only so many people had a crush on him but I bet his grandfather spoiled him to compensate for his parents. That coupled with his capabilities and achievements kinda explained his personality but then he worked hard trying to understand what is he doing wrong when he realized MC dislikes him and worked on himself trying to be better. And let's be real even with their 100% match rate he wasn't as possessive and overbearing as some "good" mls (and I'm talking both bl and bg stories here) and kept on trying to control his behavior for the MC.

And lastly a shout out to the MC because the amount of times I worried it might happen he
Spoiler

never went off on his own to get himself kidnapped or get into trouble like that and I keep reading stories lately that seem to be set in worlds where bodyguards do not exist even tho the main cast has so much money or the MC ignores all safety and runs out all alone just to get into dumb trouble that could be prevented if only all of their op braincells did not suddenly do a disappearing act

[collapse]

Once again
Spoiler

if a story contains problematic themes it does not automatically mean it's a bad story

I remember really liking this novel at the beginning and getting really invested, but towards the end, it became difficult to read and I just got so bored. I wouldn't say this is a bad novel though. It just suffers from the usual case of an author struggling in the latter half.

As far as I read, the story is good...

The beginning of half part of the novel is full of annoying ml..

Then progress to annoying MC...

Hahaha, but the plot is good..

It's just I don't think the side couple is necessary...

The side couple just annoying and doesn't need to be included, I think..

Spoiler

I don't really like MC best friend, Hawke, he just know how to make trouble for MC, and he is very unreasonable.

He doesn't want to like people he doesn't know, but he wants ML's friend, Lyle, who basically doesn't know him, to like him and wants to force Lyle to unite with him.

Basically, Lyle is a major general who is idolized by many people, including him.

So what happened was that he was a fan who wanted his idol to date him, and forced him to.

he's a character who only acts according to his own interests, but when he has a problem he will force MC to help him, and he also forces MC to tell him MC's secret

[collapse]

I must said, CH 52 is full of nonsense, I know this is Chinese novel, and I already left my brain when reading this, but still this chapter is really nonsense with a big hole.. <<less

The best part of this novel is the character development of the ML, so I would recommend only reading for that regretful ML trope. This ML starts off arrogant & prejudiced against the weak MC & definitely lives to regret his words when MC doesn't like him back. This ML also isn't nearly as s*um as a typical wife chasing crematorium ML since the MC has always not let any of his hurtful words get to him. Rather, the MC treats him and his misunderstandings mostly as a mild annoyance.

IMO,... more>> the ML's worst actions are 1) succumbing to the influence of the strong aphrodisiac-like guide pheromones released when the MC is drugged & attempting SA muddle-headedly, & 2) trying to challenge the other suitors to a duel as though MC's heart can be won. In fact, MC gets more upset at him over no. 2 than no. 1, probably because he's accepted that his S-level constitution is just too appealing to the sentinels, it's a physical reaction that can't be helped. It was still my least favorite gender reveal trope though, & many people will be understandably turned off to the story by it. <<less
