Haewon, a violinist, is a nonchalant person who neither blocks the ones who come into his life nor holds onto those who leave. One day, his only friend, Taeshin, commits su*cide, and after failing to speak to Taeshin, who called him several times shortly before his death, Haewon is haunted by his death, even though he doesn’t have much of an attachment to human relationships. Then, he inevitably runs into Woojin, the man Taeshin had a crush on, and Haewon indifferently crumples up the business card Woojin hands him.

One day, Haewon, forced into an unwanted relationship, becomes entangled in an assault case, but thanks to the business card given to him, he receives help from Woojin, who’s a prosecutor. Haewon feels uncomfortably guilty and tries to keep him at arm’s length, but Woojin is comfortable enough to take a few extra steps.

Not a work I'd expect to see here but a welcome surprise nevertheless (we will get to this later).

Leefail is an icon with impeccable writing that gives off a strong sense of immorality and s*xual tension. Into the Thrill happens to be an old work of theirs and the most popular. Once you get a taste of their stories I believe you'd get as addicted or maybe even crawl on all fours like I did. I got a chuckle out of the official custom keywords listing #Thrill. I understand the... more>> choice for using the manhwa cover but I recommend looking up on the original covers! This publisher makes the most beautiful designs and I personally loved the double entendre in every one of the volumes.

ITT comes in two parts, 4 volumes for Part 1 and 3 for Part 2. With two volumes' worth of short stories. It's a fairly lengthy work as well so pray tell it gets completely translated down the road.

Do take note that there are strong likes and dislikes for this work. If the main characters' deeds early in the story puts you off, then high chances that you will not be able to enjoy the rest of the story. Because this isn't about seeking salvation or exacting revenge. Be prepared because this will be a 'summary-ish' lengthy essay or whatever you call it. The brainrot hasn't left me for over a year.

The work is about how two unexpected figures get together, one who holds zero attachments to relationships and things around him and a control freak who seeks perfection and order in his life. With only the death of a person connecting each other, this novel tells you how every action has its repercussions, and that a relationship with unstable roots could never hold for long. They continue to separate and get together with their emotions (or lack thereof) slowly changing along the way. Part 1 is pretty much the prologue through Haewon's POV. You can see his apathy and the influence creeping in and changing him, but not without a few uncanny scenes that doesn't click just right.

Here's the reason why this work may evoke divided feelings

Spoiler

I've already mentioned that this work is NOT about revenge nor salvation for Taeshin. Understand that although Taeshin was what connected them together, he is but a mere device and a victim of a much bigger conspiracy. And even then these two would've met without Taeshin's actions. If Haewon's indifference and Woojin's cruelty makes you too uncomfortable it's okay to steer away.

[collapse]

Once you reach Part 2, you will be greeted to a special volume completely in Woojin's POV. Frankly I was pikachushockedface. jpg when I got hit with infodump in the beginning but fret not as it gets even more fascinating because you get to see just how insane this man is. Though it appears as if he's trying to justify his acts on a ground level, you will slowly begin to realise that this man maybe truly doesn't know what empathy is. He sees his life as a system, starting with his confusion over his obsession with Haewon. To him, Haewon was a flaw, a speck of dust that can be ignored, a possession easy to manipulate and yet this singularity continues to interfere on his daily life. This lack of realisation punishes him in Part 2.

As this man has no idea of the changes within him, he maintained his convictions that his actions thus far will bring him answers, continuing his threads of manipulation. One important thing to note is that he doesn't violate Haewon. Dubcon can be argued I suppose, but his actions throughout the novel was just him trying to pursue Haewon. Some spoilers below:

Spoiler

He saved Haewon from getting violated twice. First time was when one of his main targets tried to use Haewon to piss him off which led him to breaking the restaurant window and almost throwing him out (or push his throat to the broken glass).

Second was Haewon getting drugged and almost 'GB'ed until Woojin broke the door he was confined in with several bodyguards holding him back. In Haewon's words, he saw a... bloodied pen so uh let that sink in) then proceeds to beat the sh*t out of the perpetrators. Who needs #Regret gong tag for iconic scenes anyway? Anyway, Woojin actually has been careful since the beginning not to let Haewon get caught in his grand scheme of things but we all know how that happened.

[collapse]

Enjoy karma? Come get some here as

Spoiler

Haewon tries to redirect the pain back to Woojin and you will get to see with your own eyes how he completely loses everything. Haewon too develops regrets which gets cute af because despite wanting to see his ruin he tries to (awkwardly) pamper and fix his mistakes after. Oh and Woojin is extremely possessive of Haewon. Dude would've landed in the slammer for homicide before getting sentenced for embezzlement.

[collapse]

Of course Woojin, lacking emotional capacity doesn't register that feeling of losing everything because he realises the only thing he wanted was Haewon. In Part 2, Haewon tells him he could only be satisfied with his death in the beginning but Woojin tells him this,

Spoiler

"If I die, you will die too."

[collapse]

And once his life goals change,

Spoiler

He no longer tries to prove that he was 'normal'. Already shunned by his father and siblings, his mother tries to help but it only misled him. He was afraid of Haewon seeing his inner side but when he saw how Haewon accepted him he decides that he could act the way he is to Haewon. And he brings up the exchange back in Part 1 again, saying,

"Even if there is reincarnation, there is no chance that we will meet again."

[collapse]

From an outsider's POV people are free to say they will never last long but you cannot deny that they truly loved each other in the end. Haewon, a prideful cat who refused to put himself down for others, slowly grows to accept and finally understood what love is. Woojin, who only understood the system of adapting and handling things with logic, now understands that adjusting to Haewon wasn't simply just manipulation but out of affection (even if he can't understand what 'affection' is).

The habits seeping into each other was a great touch. Like getting the same car model as your lover because you grew to like it, or listening to your fickle lover's unreasonable requests and eating the foods you don't even like. It's cute. Did I forget to mention how obsessed they are with each other's scent?

Got my ass cackling when he had to calculate how far should his brutal honesty go even after all that vow never to tell lies just to keep Haewon from worrying too much.

If it isn't any obvious the snu rating gets a Thrill/10 there's so much tension it's obscene.

Spoiler

Like sharing a long deep kiss trying to melt the ice cube that contained a special ring ;)

[collapse]

TLDR, they were each other's first love. Haewon's just a purebred cat with zero sense of danger and Woojin's a desperate cat butler determind to win his heart and maybe sniff his soft primordial pouch. Guaranteed to highlight more than half the novel's quotes. <<less

There are lots of uncomfortable things if you're not used to read any dark stuff but if you're used to it, this is enjoyable esp the suspense, build up, turn of events, pov changes with reveals and classical music insertion was a great spice to add. This is not a matter of red or green flags, forgivable or not, but how a beast and tamer can find love. (Reminds me of that manhwa "The beast must die" with a mix of chasing the crematorium trope). I'll try my best not... more>> to spoil

I really like Haewon, he has a spine! Tho sometimes too risky which was his intention
Spoiler

Like hurting himself by using those disgusting chaebols srsly, to hurt ML too

[collapse]

How author wrote Haewon's conflicting emotions was really great that even I myself felt and understand it. He's comebacks in arguements are too good and slay ngl.
Spoiler

telling Woojin to crawl on fours lol Haewon knows what the readers want. "You thought I'll be on the leash but jokes on you, it's you" (he didn't said that but same energy)

[collapse]
One my fav Haewoon lines tho (not to ML btw) "Are you better than Beethoven?" "Better than Bach?" LMAOOO I LOVE HIM

Also Haewon to Woojin be: "let's get you to bed grandpa" meme

As for Woojin, like I said, it felt conflicting and frustrating. A mixture of feeling mad and sad for him
Spoiler

what he did was srsly despicable and will never be excused despite not being "involved". I still feel bad for Taesin, he didn't deserve to experience that

What I felt sad for Woojin tho is, he didnt choose to have an antisocial disorder it's something he can't remove and was born with it. His fam avoiding him at all cost made him much worse. (His mom tho, I can see that she loves him and did her best to understand him). With Haewon there, theres that relieving feeling, someone would love him despite being like that and embraced it (Im feeling like his mom)

[collapse]
I read insights of some readers like how Haewon became a teacher to Woojin since only him taught Woojin what to be like. And Woojin in main vs side story, he really has that charac dev. I really applaud the author how they conveyed his charac.

About the CP interaction, their serious and non serious banters was great to read. I don't mind the obsessions too LMAO. They're a matchmade ngl. There are also times when
Spoiler

I want Haewon to know the truth and RUUN. And sometimes want Woojin to CHASE HIM

Despite all those big problems, I still cheered for the 2 to end up with each other as long as no more lies and hiding of things. Which the author indeed delivered

[collapse]
Their moments was kinda cute too and ring scenes made my eyes moist tho. That part using the mouth instead of box for the ring to melt that was in an ice was a unique one and smart of the author. Last 2 chapters are my fav (like srsly, finally free from problems) made me chuckle with the convos. I NEED MOAR SIDE STORIES AAA

How the truths were unveiled was really the best part that your srsly into the thrill (title drop lol). Kinda funny with misunderstandings
Spoiler

SINCE IT'S THE TRUTH Also didnt expect for Jaemin to be actually a good person esp towards the ending

[collapse]

Such a satisfying ending <<less
